I am Pakistani and I feel the Kalash culture and people should be the feather in our cap. This is truly unique in every way and should be protected. They should be able to live freely, do as they please and get equal opportunites in every field. I would hate for them to see the same fate as their 'brothers' from the neighbouring Afghani villages.

Hindu Kush population was integral part of ancient India. Their custom resembles more of Hindu religion even today, Kashmiris are neighbors to them who also have similar customs. They have not descendent from other region, in fact its their own land. Islam rulers destroyed most innocent Hindus and occupied, converted many. Bad to hear this conversion is still alive.

You can see this everywhere in developing countries, as tourism changes the life and culture of the host people. I think this is a small price to pay for financial independence in a changing world. Good luck to the Kalash people and hope that you can hold onto some of the simpler and beautiful parts of your culture that makes you unique.

These simple people are the original indigenous Aryans whom some people are trying to make them believe (as an agenda) by brainwashing that they are Albanians, Greeks, etc.they are neither of these. Alexander the Macedonian never set foot in this area, besides these people are lighter and taller than the average Greek. Alexander his troops spent time in Pakistani Punjab where many people are dark and short like the Greeks. Though they by large are neither Greek nor Macedonian. Their language is Dardic related to Shina and Kashmiri. These great people must survive and not get Semitized religiously either.

As a person who is new to the existence of the Kalash people, I see that tourism is a double edged sword. Yes, it can greatly help them financially, however, there is the the potential cost of diluting the culture. As far as tourism being potential is another matter in itself. The safety of tourists is for sure on their minds. With the issues with India, the Taliban etc many Europeans and Westerners will not be willing to travel to these locations. As a person who has served in the US Military, I have seen many of these areas and I feel many of them are beautiful and most of the people are caring, want a normal life and have been very open to westerners. However, there is always the ones that will do what ever they can to bring in problems to the community which puts everyone at risk.

They didn’t conquer Greece there was no Greece before them. They were literally a fugitives who went north running from foreign occupation from Asia on their original lands which was Syria (ancient Syria like the Greek historian Herodotus described it) to the north and established Greece. Then they named the cities they established a names in their original language. And when they have established a force they returned to liberate and protect their homeland then the romans continued this and they even crowned emperors and empress from their homeland like Philip the Arab and his sons, Septimius Severus Arabicus and his sons, his wife Julia domna and her sister Julia maesa..etc. (Funny is that there was no emperor or empress from the northern “European” who claim now they are from the same origin and related to the Ancient Greek and romans)
Ancient Greeks and Romans have real relationship with Arabs not like the rest of the world who are trying to cling to them. They had conflicts but were internal conflicts not occupation.
Fun fact ancient greeks and romans never linked themselves with the northern barbarian( they named them this name) who are named Northern European today the Germanic, Celtic, franks and Slavic. They viewed them as foreigners and were at wars with them constantly.
      Go learn real history.

The Kalash is the only tribe left that is considered "pagan" (not in religious or new age terms) along with the Yezidi Kurds who are persecuted by isis terrorists, the turkish government and others and I think by now they have been driven away from the lands they used to live for centuries. Everything and everyone is going to be assimilated and history is being deleted.
PS. beware of nazis in the comments and nationalist disinfo in general, this is a serious matter

They are the original indigenous members of the Aryan Race. Their ethnicity, culture, language etc., is Aryan (Indo-European). They speak a Dardic tongue. It is hoped that though Islam is a fine Semitic religion these great people will not be Semitized religiously. God has made the planet colorful and diverse and it shall stay that way. They are being made to believe (via brainwashing) that they are Greeks or Macedonians they are neither just indigenous Aryans. Besides Alexander was not known to have entered this region after his battle with Porus he withdrew from the Indian subcontinent. Alexander was only in what is now the Pakistani Punjab.Whether Alexander or the great Kshatriya (Rajput) Porus won is surely not clear but both survived and Alexander withdrew.

    • @joek600
      @joek600 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

The outcome of the battle of Hydaspes was crystal clear. Alexander won though with severe casualties and his already tired troops once realizing the magnitude of a campaign in India revolted and demanded to go home. King Porus remained as a ruler of a client kingdom. I really dont understand why the Indian state gets so butthurt about this incident to the point of denying the outcome without providing ANY solid sources.
The Kalash people are probably indigenous people caught up in a romantic background pressed upon them. Many of them seem to embrace it and it seems that they did had some oral traditions related to the passing by, Greek troops. Now the extend of a real tradition and a manufactured one due to their need for attention and financial help, I cant know. After all they are surrounded by foundamentalistic shitholes, for them to assume a ''glorious identity'' that resonates with the west might be a way to survive. Personaly I believe that they are indigenous people, it wouldnt be that far fetched for some of them to have a small percentage of Greek dna, but the researches until now do not support it. On a last note. Its mentioned (not by you) that Greeks try to highjack the Kalash people. Well... no. Actually there is absolutely no need to claim an obscure little group in the middle of nowhere. On the contrary it creates troubles and obligations that the Greek state is not willing to take on. The whole thing has a romantic charm and some private citizens might feel moved but thats the end of it. By chance it happened that a family friend married a Kalash woman, I dont know how they met he was a captain in the merchant navy. They moved to Greece and she continued to practice her religion which had some common elements with the ancient Greek one. Now was it a cultural remnant of the hellenistic era of Asia? Was it just a version of the proto-indoeuropean common cults? Im not in the place to say.

@@Laila-hl8dc There are so many things wrong with your comment.
      1. You're called Laila. Why did you put a heart?
      2. Kalash people aren't descended from Greeks, although they are related to them genetically and linguistically as they are both part of the Indo-European language family. The Kalasha people are remnants of the ancient vedic aryan invaders who got isolated in the paropamisus and received relatively low amounts of IVC admixture compared to their counterparts down below. The vedic aryan people were a mix of steppe and BMAC genes. The greeks were steppe genes who mixed with southern european neolithic genes. So it was a two-way parting.
      3. I you think greeks colonised some islamic arab land in pakistan and put their offspring there, might I assume you came from the american education system? Firstly, paropamisus during Alexander the Great was BUDDHIST, Zoroastrian, and shamanistic. Alexander the Great and his descendants however never touched the area and almost a millenia later the arabs arrived at the area, bringing their wretched religion with them. The mongols when they plundered central asia told of the Kalash and never massacred them and described them as being gentle and peaceful people. However, the muslims in the area were trying to and had been trying to convert them to islam, calling them infidels and whatever. This discrimination has been happening for over 12 centuries, and I doubt it will get any better next year, so it was the muslims who "forcefully colonised"

They should migrate to India. They were part of India for thousands of years, so they'll be going back to their roots. Their religion is somewhat similar to Hinduism too. They'll fit in, and it'll add to India's diversity. Besides, there are other Dard groups in India today, so they'll fit right in. Moreover, Muslim fanaticism is much less in India, so the Kalash will be safer there. Their Brokpa cousins will give them comfort too.

Teacher from the Kalash tells the truth. The population in the fortress believes that it is of Albanian origin, the Kalash population does not believe that their origin is Greek. They are of Albanian origin, fighters of the army of Alexander the Great. The religious beliefs of the population in Kalash are pagan beliefs that have nothing to do with the Christian or Muslim religion. In the culture of the Kalash people there are
pellasgian names and proofs based on the Albanian language. The castle is being invested by the Greek state with Byzantine-style buildings to help this very poor but noble population

Lol, not quite brother. I live in Brazil, in the Amazon region, and there are many missionaries who work in villages in different ways. Many natives convert, others not so much. There is also the governmental issue, since the left-wing government prevents not only missionaries from entering, but also other groups that have nothing to do with religion.

There can be no doubt that by looking at "some" of these Kalash people, mestization has definitely occurred with Europeans. To what extent? I have no idea but it occurred at some point in their history whether with Greeks or other Europeans. The skin tone on "some" of them is not typical of your average Pakistani. In conclusion, colored eyes, lighter skin tone, physical features on "some" of the Kalash people tell a different story than that of ordinary citizens of Pakistan. If I were to go on a hunch, I would guess 25% European and 75% South Asian admixture.
