  • Join me as I demo my painting, "Stardust In My Bones," which explores using a brayer to apply sheer veils of color on a layered oil and cold wax abstract painting. This painting is 12" x 12" x 1.5" on a cradled wood panel.
Thank you so, so much for following along in the creation of this painting!

Thank you for your kind words, Linda! I'm so happy you've discovered the fun & possibilities of working in oil & cold wax. And I agree. These earlier videos had the music too loud. I've been working on managing the issue. 💗

pastels in oils? does that only work because you added the wax?

The final coating of cold wax seals in the pastel so it doesn't rub off. It works kind of like a fixative.

Is there anything else equivalent to gamsol...

Good question. I've only ever used Gamsol, but I know a few artists that use Zest-it as an alternative.
