A big thumbs up for ZFC! I had some Muc-Off team Sky Hydrodynamic lube. Let's just say my experience was very consistent with ZFC's test results and I will not use Muc-Off lubricants again.

Stop claiming something is the fastest without some INDEPENDENT testing done to verify it is in FACT the fastest. I want to see independent testing done vs known fast lubes like Silca Super Secret, Smoove and Squirt.

Nowhere they specify part of the formula ! Test this lube vs wax+ptfe, not sure it will win ! From some of the closeup shots, you can see a lot of grime on some cogs, this will wear your drive train faster (than wax+ptfe). They wear gloves, I don't need them for wax+ptfe treatment of my chain, never have very dirty finger, just need 1 wash with soap+water and my hands a perfectly clean again. That means that the wax+ptfe doesn't attrack particles. All in all, I don't believe them.
@@RichardMigneron I have tried the wax+PTFE it was absolutely rubbish it ruined my new chain, chainring and cassette I will never use it again. I now use muck off dry lube ceramic it is great I could not fault it in any way. No wear and lasts for a few weeks 😁
The independent zero friction cycling lab has rated this lube very poorly in term of efficiency and longevity. There are way faster and longer lasting lubes out there. If you want to stick with the GCN sponsors, the Silca products are very good.

For instance, I don’t buy Muc-Off’s marketing, but I do pay ludicrous price for Oakley’s which is marketed to be ballistic proof and able to protect my eyes. To me, I believe it to be true. But to some people, it’s just a marketing fluff and their AliExpress sunnies are no different. To each, their own. To believe and buy the marketing, or not to.

Yep, since a well lubricated derailleur drive train already has only 3 to 4 % losses a further reduction in friction here may be worth to pay for for professional riders (where a hundred of a second can be important) but not for amateurs who won't even notice or measure a difference

I found on my fixed commute bike that wax was useless on a track chain. 10 speed ok but I agree with 1 wet ride and that's it. Can't deny it's cleaner. Went to wolf tooth lubricant. Astoundingly good imo. That fixed chain is really slick and survives the wet for a few days.
WD40 is awful for bike chains. Not a true multi-use lubricant. Best for stuck parts and cleaning but not lube. Use a lubricant designed specifically for bike chains.

I use SCC Tech Slick Chain Lube. It's a synthetic lube that cleans your chain as you rode. All I have to do is wipe off my chain after every ride since it pulls all of the dirt out from between my links. This stuff is supposed to be so good you can start using it without even cleaning your chain. I call BS on that claim, but I always clean my stuff before adding lube. I can attest to how long it lasts though. How did I hear about it? It was recommended to me by a few MTBers I know, and my LBS uses it on all off the high end road and mountain bikes they service. It's a little pricey compared to some other lubes though. My other fave is King of Rock n Roll Gold. It's a good lube too.
Awful lube - unless you like a thick, black grinding paste wearing out your components, splattering you and your bike, and general slow riding. AVOID ALL muc-off lubricants and treat yourself to Silca super secret, Ceramic speed UFO drip, Squirt, Smoove, Rex Black Diamond, Effetto Mariposa Flower Power, or Tru Tungsten and thank me later.
Next step in incremental gains-GCN has to look at energy lost by these super loud ZZZZZZZ free hubs when coasting. I can’t imagine and aluminum hub/carbon wheel being as efficient as my old Cerwin-Vega speakers in converting watts of energy into dB of noise, so there has got to be some losses there, which could add up multiple seconds lost in an alpine or pyrennean descent.

They are being modest. It is beyond ludicrous. You can get a quart of chainsaw bar oil for pocket change; enough lubricant for decades of chain maintenance and it is exceptionally well-suited to the task. Apply to each roller with a pinpoint oiler, wipe off excess oil from chain and rings, and wipe down again after each of the first few rides and you'll have a smooth and clean-running chain hundreds of miles longer than silly and expensive boutique lubricants. A clean well-lubricated chain is extremely efficient. Don't worry about further miniscule gains unless you're such a fantastic rider as to have a mechanic -- and then you can leave them to worry about your lube day and night.
I really love MucOff products, but we seem to be in a time where new items are released with maximum prices for minuscule gains. It’s like guys that obsess with using pure nitrogen to fill their tires on their performance cars rather than normal air because F1 teams do it.

If this is the fastest chain lube, what is the quietest one? I don't ming losing 0.5 Watt, but if I use a dry lube, the noise coming from my chain is unbearable, and it is Ultegra Di2 groupset.

You don't gain any watts. You loose less watts. But the question is, compared to what? Any aftermarket lube is more efficient than stock lube, so they can claim all they want but it only matters how this AF lube compares to leading wax immersion lubes. For that, we need independent testing

A couple of blocks of paraffin wax with fine Teflon powder. Put in in a slow cooker and Bob’s your uncle. Enough wax to retreat your chain fifty or more times for £15
After all this marketing talk, priced at $65 US, I'm just going to keep using my Boeshield T-9. I have never used a MUC-OFF product and probably never will because obviously they look at cyclists as a cash cow. It makes no sense to keep funding manufacturers like this.

The advice used to be to leave marginal gains to the pros. Now people who ride 2 days a week are being convinced they need 12 speed electronic dura ace and a £50 bottle of lube. Between these ads, you could at least be doing more to promote more inclusive cycling.

Have no doubt this product will be incredible, I'm typically always impressed with Muc Off. However you can't shove a brand deal product down our throats with 'Fastest Lube' Phrases without an Unbiased test done.
Nice advertorial full of typical marketing hype. 'All mouth and no trousers' as my grandmother used to say. The lube appears to be oil based which means it will attract dirt and grime. It's ok for pro riders to go through this clean and lube process after every race but the average rider is just going to waste money.

As an msc mechanical engineer, I can only state, that paraffin is not a lube at all, and do not trust any "independent" information from ZFC.

i wonder if this video is simply a paid for commercial? No one would take a statement like "the world's fastest" seriously, without an actual scientific comparison between known fast lubes.

Have no doubt this product will be incredible, I'm typically always impressed with Muc Off. However you can't shove a brand deal product down our throats with 'Fastest Lube' Phrases without an Unbiased test done.
Nice advertorial full of typical marketing hype. 'All mouth and no trousers' as my grandmother used to say. The lube appears to be oil based which means it will attract dirt and grime. It's ok for pro riders to go through this clean and lube process after every race but the average rider is just going to waste money.
