Those mosaics are amazing!!! They have given me inspiration for some of my (many) "treasures" that I always seem to bring back from trips. And I love the chunks of green glass too.
I could hear that biting wind. The day was clear and sharp, oh I remember those bitter, bright, cold days, could just about take your breath out your lungs it was so cold. It was like trying to breathe ice water. Your nose would chill and run, your lips would chap and burn. I am SO glad I live in the sub tropical Bay of Plenty now….great video. I felt for your wee Scottish finger tips.
Oh yes it was so cold Amanda! When I took my gloves off, my fingers starting shaking with the cold... but the sunset was stunning and the emerald green glass was rewarding ! Oh the Bay of Plenty - we didn't make it there when we were in NZ! We loved Wellington very much and Auckland had some sea glass too :) NZ is a lovely country!
Was good filming towards the end(noticed others have mentioned this too) - clever people with the huts; the lobster nets(that song ringing in my head now - Rock Lobster - B52s) - nice souvenir the sea mine, there were loads of them! Have a sale on with the emerald jewellery (time it St Patrick's Day). BRRR !
That's very kind, thank you so much! We love those huts - could spend a day digging round in all the wee bits and bobs collected there! Haha! Love that song - always reminds me of a strange episode of Family Guy where Peter does a hilarious version of that!! Planet Claire is the one that gets stuck in my head - all that beeping! lol Great idea... not long to go for that! Thank you so much, best wishes, Nicole & Craig xo
Thank you so much! We love the huts here, but that one has the best collection of bits and bobs... and its the only one with these cool mosaics!! So glad you enjoyed it! Best wishes, Nicole & Craig xo
Talk about freezing, we had 6 degree farenheight this morning here in central New Jersey USA!!! I'm staying inside toasty warm and watching you pick all that beautiful green glass.
What a lovely beach you visited N&G. I love green seaglass and you found very pretty pieces from that spot. Hope you got well back and enjoyed a hot drink to warm you. Hugs xx
Beautiful wee pieces of glass love the red wow stunning green so cool love them ❤❤❤ wow even loved the bigger ones you both found before beautiful ❤️❤️❤️
Hi Nicole and Craig. Really enjoyed your wee expedition to Pettycur. My wife enjoys a wee scour about the beaches herself but thus far we haven't been down to this one. We did do a wander along to Burntisland a few years ago. Just making it off the beach before almost being cut off by the tide! I remember the United Glass factory. It occupied the site under the cliffs where those 'new' houses are now. When I was an apprentice electrician, I was involved in the rewiring of the scheme above the harbour area. A woman who lived in those houses worked in the work canteen at United Glass so we used to pop down there for the odd lunch. The folks who own The Bay Hotel and caravan park are old friends so we'll maybe have to make a day of it and pay them a visit and go down for a scrounge about when the weather gets a bit better. Some nice views down there but on a good day, the views from the caravan park are simply spectacular. Cheers.
Hi! So glad you enjoyed it! Hope you get a chance to re-visit the place and enjoy treasure hunting in this amazing bay! Oh! The tides on this streach are very tricky - they come in quite fast in this bay! That is so cool - its amazing to hear that you remember the factory being there... It must have looked quite different...its pretty quiet now, so hard to imagine when it was a hive of activity! We have never popped into the park, but will have to do that for the views - if you fancy a wee climb, there is an old, long abandoned, mining village in the hills nearby - it was called Binnend... Following the path along the side of the fields on the hill, takes you to the most spectacular views along the Forth - we made a video up there a year or so ago! Very many thanks! Best wishes, Nicole & Craig xo PS. good luck beachcombing!
Wow.. where do I start with what I like about this video. Those pieces of art at the huts are so imaginative. Your enthusiasm is so infectious when you find something you like. The shots of the seascape are soothing to the soul, the colours nature gives us are beautifull. I'm always envious of your finds. Thank you so much for the glass history lesson too
So glad you enjoyed it!! We love this place, its filled with so many treasures - the ones we find on the beach, the ones created by the shack owners (particularly the people who own that one - its amazing!!) and the treaures in nature - this bay has views that just bring calm and peace... truely lovely place to be. Thank you so much for coming along! :D Best wishes, Nicole & Craig xo
You are hearty souls to go out larking in the freezing cold. But what lovely finds you made and the scenery was beautiful too! The mosaics were inspirational! ❤
Thanks so much Lisa! It was so cold but worth it, for the green sea glass chunks and the sunset - we could have stayed there forever, just watching the sun set!
Thanks ever so much Charles ! Luckily we have been able to get some warmer clothes - thanks so much!! It was such a cold day, just above freezing with really baltic winds coming off the North Sea :)
Beautiful sunset and such lovely green sea glass and the red one. The weather of course would be way too cold; anything under 16°C is too cold. Hello from southern California where it's about 22°C. 🌞🇺🇸
Thanks so much Rosemarie! Oh the red turned out to be plastic - I only noticed when I tried to drill it!! Hope all is well in California - I saw the Santa Cruz pier was destroyed by the recent swells...
This was so beautiful, an amazing view of the ocean and sunset. I love looking with you as you find what you want. The emerald green glass is stunning and does resemble uncut gem stones. Thanks for braving the temperatures of freezing 🥶 cold to lark for us and with us. Great days! Have a safe and blessed week. 💗💗💗💗💗
There was what looked like a wee green emerald near the bird ring. Thank you for braving the cold to bring us this great video & taking me on this emerald hunt with you.
What a fantastic adventure, although I did feel a bit guilty about how you braved the cold while I got to watch this from my warm and cozy home! The mosaics at the shacks were amazing! Wouldn’t it be special to hear from the artists who created them! The emerald glass was gorgeous, and I loved the red flash glass. Thanks for sharing the history behind the green glass. The seascapes were incredible- and so calming. Thank you for braving the cold to bring us this amazing episode!! Take care and stay warm!! 🥰🙏
Aww thanks Ruth! It was cold but we were rewarded with that amazing sunset and the emeralds :) The red glass turned out to be plastic - I only noticed it, when I started drilling it!! Take care - it's getting a bit warmer now thankfully... x
What a brilliant video😊 I loved how you show the scenery and explained all the different areas of Scotland. Great finds, even though it was so cold! Take care ❤️🇦🇺 xxx
I feel your pain! I was up on the West Coast in January. But what fantastic colours on that beach, both from the glass and the sky! It looks like it was well worth the chill.
It was such a cold day with the wind coming towards us from the North Sea ... brrrrr! We had a lovely day out with that sunset being the star of the day!
Thank you for a particularly interesting and beautiful adventure in lovely Scotland and enduring the cold temperatures for your video. The mosaics were awesome and wonderfully crafted by the owner of the shanty with all the beach treasures. The beach was very lovely and your finds were so unique. You are blessed to have these amazing places to escape to and find true peace. I appreciate the historical content as well.
We are so very lucky to have so many incredible places around us - in Scorland, we've never far from the sea. The mosaics are so cool, inspirational... the owner of this shack has the best collection of flotsam and jetsum! We love this little bay, the view across the Firth of Forth and the way the tides change here are really special. So glad you enjoyed the video and thank you so much for joining us on our wee beach hunt! :D Best wishes, Nicole & Craig xo

Thanks for the video, I live in the far north of Scotland and the weather here has been atrocious lately so I haven't been able to get out to the beach. The last time I did make it, I had a rare find, a dolphins vertebrae.
Yes , but becoming harder to find. I like yourself make jewellery with it and use my beach finds to make things from shell wreaths to sea pottery mosaics and driftwood hearts.
Oh it was such a cold day! The wind was icy and we had considered just going back in the car when we arrived ;) We were the only people at the beach, and you know it's usually a busy place!
Hello Nicole, Hello Craig, I do agree that those green pieces of glass looks like Emeralds. I think they're simply lovely. Was also wondering if you ever did any glass carving?? Some of the bigger green pieces would make great frogs or even Green Dragons for pendants. Oh well whatever you make its gonna be beautiful. Greetings from the U.S.A.
Thanks so much Peggy! I have done some carving on a few larger pieces for pendants - I made a necklace for my mom a few years ago with several pieces and they read ' I love you' :) I carved a bird and a cat paw and a mermaid as well! I haven't carved an entire piece into a shape but I have seen sea glass being transformed into things like a starfish by other creatives.
Hihy I saw some white was petty too,I love the red too, you could make cute Christmas trees fer Christmas too this year! Get a metal detector and find more stuff to put on colas Christmas tree too,the white I saw was beautiful too 1/2 was clear, and some smoked, add that to, take care mare
I realise this is an old video and you may have already been but you should go to Kinghorn Harbour beach too. On a good day the tide goes out really far and you can walk around the rocks on either side going towards Pettycur or away in the other direction. I spent so many childhood summers at kinghorn Harbour. I'm sure it will have sea glass around those rocks although it's been a while since I visited it. There's actually hidden coves in kinghorn if you walk next to the train line/old caravan park (not pettycur but the now private caravan park in kinghorn) then jump over the seawall (when tide is out).
@@scottishmudlarking it is very small but as it's between Kirkcaldy and Pettycur I bet there's sea glass around that area. It's been so long since I've been but it is one of my favourite places in Fife. I did do metal detecting there once mainly found fishing hooks and modern coins though.
I could feel how cold that was!! Good that you started to get some nice little pieces, perfect for your jewellery. I've been running backwards and forwards to Edinburgh Airport recently and depending on departure times I've been visiting the beaches with my dogs on the way home. So far I've stopped at Aberdour (Black Sands), stopped off at Dalgety Bay and Burnt Island. This one that you're at is further along the cost but not too far. Any suggestions for a good beach to visit? X
Thanks so much Karan! How did you find Aberdour Black Sands - there is silver Sands right next to it! Did you go to the Mermaid's tears cove in Burntisland - it's just past the car park near the swimming pool, towards the Sea...follow the path on the coast! Kirkcaldy has always been nice for pottery, it's getting a bit picked over now and we haven't been for nearly two years so I expect it's changed... Check out our Fife Coastal Path series for some more info on places - links to long videos are in the description. :)
@@scottishmudlarking I have a vintage set with glass birds and all metal fittings, but noticed around 8 yrs ago a few of the big department stores were recreating a lot of old vintage tree decorations, you know the type with the neon bright colours, well a few also recreated the birds except they had those awful green clamps! They were a deeper tree green, think that ones bees sun bleached! 😂
You are right - its horrible stuff! Check out our past videos where we collect and use plastic from a number of different beaches - I've copied a few links here. We often collect plastic and try to encourage its use in art because that way, it gets trapped outside the immediate environment... We collect and bin a lot each week we're filming, or just walking, too, but we know binning is just displacing it into a landfill or even just getting it dumped somewhere that it will be equally nasty. Sadly, we cannot collect it all... This beach alone has a vast collection of nurdles - the tiny component pieces that are melted down to make plastic items - we did a special on that to draw awareness, but we can't collect them all, there must be hundreds of thousands of these tiny plastic pieces on this beach... Here are a few of the videos we have made that focus on the problem and, we hope, give some creative ideas about using it. Thank you so much, its an important issue! Thank you so, much... we're always happy to get feedback, and we're glad you enjoy the channel...Sorry you find that annoying - we keep that in the videos because we've had lots of positive comments about it, but it is fair to say that, sometimes we might get a wee bit carried away! :D Best wishes, Nicole & Craig xo

Hallo nach Wuppertal Jennifer :)
What you found set of bones from a baby dragon and just left them laying on the beach ?
Hahah Dave! That's what it was!! ;)
Could you not pick all the little pieces of plastic as their terrible and just pop into nearest bin
Best wishes, Nicole & Craig xo

Please stop the can you see and dragging out every discovery. Like your channel but that is boring. Once in awhile is ok but not every single time. Thank you😊
Thank you so, much... we're always happy to get feedback, and we're glad you enjoy the channel...Sorry you find that annoying - we keep that in the videos because we've had lots of positive comments about it, but it is fair to say that, sometimes we might get a wee bit carried away! :D
Best wishes, Nicole & Craig xo
