  • UPDATE: History repeated itself LOL. SeaSHINE sold to the back-up offer (the original folks flaked which was super frustrating but probably for the best).
    Ahoy! Welcome to our April 2023 Great Loop update from Cape Eleuthera in the Bahamas. (and yes we know it is May -- it has taken over a week to get this uploaded. Starlink is on to us LOL).
    Follow us on instagram @TheBoomershines / theboomershines or TikTok @MVSeaSHINE or on TikTok @MVSeaSHINE
    Since our last update, we successfully made it from Key Largo, Fl to THE BAHAMAS in SeaSHINE, our 56-foot Ocean Alexander motor yacht. We have done over 5,000 miles of the loop and are still going on this detour thru THE BAHAMAS. We will cross our wake when we return to the USA.
    After that, we will sell our beloved SeaSHINE. If you'd like more information on her, please contact Brent Bowlin Great Loop Yacht Sales.

      So kind of you to say Tom! Don’t worry. You will not get rid of us that easily. We have hundreds of hours of footage of the whole trip to edit into many episodes of actual boating. The best it yet to come from our channel!

    Hi guys, I heard you a few video's ago saying that you are selling your boat. Can I give you some advice? Back in the early 80's we bought a 50 ft steel trawler. We had four young kids. We had the kids help as young as about 7 to 14 and we gutted the boat. This made the boat theirs. I redesigned the interior and called in the pros to do the work. I was self-employed and took my summers off to boat with the family. We did that for 17 years living all summer on the boat traveling the St lawrence, Lake Ontario, Georgian Bay, Niagara Falls to New York. It was the most satisfying thing we could have ever done. The kids bonded and we created memories. When they started leaving for college and universities, we lost our crew and we sold our Sunadan. Today the kids are grown up, have good jobs all have kids of their own and they are each other's best friends and all wish we had our boat again. Don't sell your boat, it's a really nice boat, well cared for, and will last you another 25 years and guess who's going to want to come back to boat with their kids so that they live the same experience and your boat will be a family focal point again, and listen to the stories your kids will be re-counting, Think about it. We are now 67 and also miss our boat so much that we are looking for that perfect boat again if not for the kids and grand kids it will be for ourselves.

      Hi there and thanks for the kind words! Love the adventure you had in what sounds like a beautiful boat! We loved cruising Georgian Bay last year on our Great Loop. Definitely gorgeous and our kids loved it. We will not be getting out of boating by any means. We will continue to boat as a family by chartering in different parts of the globe. We also plan on upgrading possibly to a larger and newer boat years from now. SeaSHINE has been a wonderful floating home for us, and will be a fantastic boat for another lucky owner in the near future. SeaSHINE was always meant to be part of a short chapter in our lives and we never planned on keeping her long term. Thanks again! Capt. Mark 😎⚓️

    Wow, I have not seen you guys on TH-cam in a while now. Just saw your video and surprised we have not seen you. We did Bimini, around the Berry Islands, Nassau, Exumas down to Georgetown, up Long Island, Cat Island and have been in Rock Sound, Eluthera for the last couple of days and headed up to Tens Beach tomorrow. We are a 46 foot Maxum named Lady Bug. Now that we know, perhaps we will run across you. So far we have seen Searching for C-Shels (we have their old dinghy) and Spear it Animal.

    You guys would be so much more amazing if the 'First Mate' would just be a tad more animated and excited about boating and life in general. Just kidding... you guys just compliment each other perfectly. Wish I could manage a way to acquire your boat, someone is getting a smashingly good deal to go along with all the stories. Best of luck

    Go off your stern to grab the ball, run a line through it and walk around to the nose with that line.

    • @TheBoomershines
      @TheBoomershines  ปีที่แล้ว

      That does not work on SeaSHINE because we do not have a full walk around. But that would be a great approach in a boat with a full walk around. Our approach is working great thus far!

      That's the way we have always picked up a mooring. It's also a really easy way to do it as a single hander. But, we have side decks.

    • @TheBoomershines
      @TheBoomershines  ปีที่แล้ว

      This was always the plan. We have boated our whole lives and will always be boating -- just on different boats. SeaSHINE is our Loop boat.
