"If Bdubs can do it... I can" is pretty much a life lesson for all 14 year olds
And most adults too
timestamp?
@@lethargicnoise uhm maybe 13 minutes or whatever in..... i was jokingly paraphrasing; she wasn't taking a shot at bdubs or anything... everyone knows bdubs is amazing; no drama. They were talking about how she got started and she said how at 14 she was watching Bdubs and Etho and Doc, etc and playing Minecraft with friends and thought "hey I can do that" is kinda how she got started making vids
@@lethargicnoise 13:46 is the actual timestamp....but again, start at 13:00 for full context
BDubs has an amazingly approachable way of presenting his work. He also plays the fool a bit (deliberately) which adds to that. Such a wonderful creative!
One step closer to having every Hermit on the Podcast. Would be great for you to get Doc or Keralis.
Keralis would be awesome. And Doc as well, but for some reason i'd like Keralis first
Yeeeeesssss Keralis, oh please make this possible ☺
I don't think they should limit themselves to just Hermits. They had Martyn on, so I wouldn't be surprised if they go down Empires or branch out to other SMPs and other TH-camrs who also play Minecraft. I'd even love to see Captain Sparklez be on the podcast at some point, I know it's not going to happen sooner rather than later, but why only stop at just Hermitcraft people, right?
@@JasonICECarson Of course! Just anyone who they think would fit the podcast.
But Keralis, Big Eyes! Just sink about it!
It's been awesome to hear from so many creators (especially the Hermits) that might not have done an interview / been on a podcast otherwise. And at this point, I'm always ready to learn more about whoever they bring on since it's always guaranteed to be time well spent :)
Especially when seeing in the title of the video that it's just the first out of two episodes with the guest, that always makes me excited for the subsequent episode, even before I listened to the first one (which happens to be the case right now, but after watching the introduction, I know that this episode will be just as good as the rest have been... and also because it's Gem, and as the quote from one of the Hermitcraft episodes goes, "Gem is great!")
I'd love to see Lizzie and Joel on the podcast!
Yes that could be so fun❤
YESSS
YES 100%
Yesssssssssss
I agree, I would like to see them maybe individually rather than as a couple, I want to go deep into Joel like they did more with Tango
GeminiTay's room and outfut makes me want to burst out with "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!" So amazing
Altough it's more like fall-themed. But it's so cosy!
I know, her outfits are always so amazing!! If I lived somewhere cooler than where I do now my entire wardrobe would look like what Gem wears lol
It's the cute cottagecore vibes... 🍁
Welcome to the Canadian life
Gem is a Canadian National treasure. She makes me proud to be Canadian.
I'd like to call her a North American treasure so I can be a small part of her awesomeness. 😊
yeah! i would love to know more about him, about stuff he does like charity, how he creates and moderates life series, etc.
how I feel about Iskall
I'm Aussie, but my dad grew up in Canada and his sisters live over there now. I'm proud to have that link, however tenuous!
Same for me, but with scar
Hearing Gem say that she was the one needing the advice still is a bit heartbreaking. I hate how terrible people can be, and how it doesn't matter how awesome the person is, they'll still be treated just as terribly. You kick ass Gem, I'm sorry people suck so much. >
The oldest video Gem has , it starts with " Gemini is awesome " , so the phrase "Gem is great " is not just a statement , it's "LORE".
Haha I felt it in my soul when Gem said she had to teach her parents internet safety. I relate to that so hard. I don't know when the switch happened but I'm constantly worried they're going to fall for internet scams, misinformation, catfishing. My mom thought she was talking to someone from the town she grew up in, nope! I feel ya Gem, I feel ya.
I'm older and I don't trust anything on the internet and routinely ask my kids if things are legit or not. better safe than sorry
I can imagine people, especially when they are from a quiet little town, just don't think about that? My mom would be 66 now and loved her social media. But since she had worked for a bank all her adult life, she automatically implemented a privacy secure way of thinking in the way she went online.
Oh my god, yes. I'm in my 40s, so my parents are elderly and thus its even more difficult to wrangle. Especially my dad, who's even older (in his mid-80s), and it is soooo difficult to keep him remembering what not to do so I'm not being called to fix their computer once a month to fix whatever he's broken on the computer by clicking on ads.
I definitely felt the having to teach people internet safety as well from almost the opposite perspective, I'm pretty young so I started out being on the internet at a very young age. Internet safety has been a thing ingrained in me both at home and at school since legitimately about kindergarten/first grade. When people are lax about internet safety it's infuriating, because these are the ultimate basics! It's like stranger danger to me, something you just know and will always fall back on even if it's 3 am and you have completely lost any semblance of a filter. And then someone in my life will post a picture of their house and I'm like "STOP- PLEASE YOU ARE GOING TO DIE." Which may be a slight overreaction but I would rather be freaked out and overreacting than stalked
my mom DID fall for an internet scam. she's had her identity stolen twice.... its bad. i try so hard to caution her and protect her.... she googled computer help and let the guy she called into her PC. i was like MOM WE TALKED ABOUT THIS!!!!! and i had to hard wipe her entire computer to get rid of stuff he'd done. it was scarry.
Thanks for having Gem on! As a very old lady mine crafter who was always scared of doing vids or streams, it’s lovely to see a woman as strong and smart as her featured ❤
Hello, I'm an old lady minecrafter as well!
Gem is a Gem! I might have to try videos as well!
Not gonna lie, Gem is a big part of why I'm currently saving up for a computer I can actually record Minecraft videos on... Been playing since before the nether was a thing, and I'm not great at the game but Gem is such an inspiration. 😊
I'm old lady minecrafter too! I totally relate to the concept of MC being a tool for artistic output - I don't have space for 'making things' in my house, so having a space to 'make things' that can be stored digitally, but still feel 'real', is something I've expressed a few times to friends who don't understand why I love Minecraft. :)
@@janelgoolsby2135 You should try videos. I don't like appearing on camera, but I made a few timelapses and it's fun without ever having to actually talk to an audience :D
I'm a young man, not an old lady, but I love Minecraft. If you have a passion for something, going for it can be a good idea. Focus on the passion, and your future fans will notice your authenticity, even if the fanbase's growth is slow-going at first.
Really enjoying listening to these in the background and learning a lot. Great series 🙂
Thanks Biffa!
You guys should interview Ren's brother Jono! I feel like he'd be the first non-minecrafter you could get on here.
If he's a non-minecrafter, so are Evan and Katelyn...
@@riuphane no they stream games i think on twitch
@@addy9764 I'm aware, I watch all 6 (when they're active) of their YT channels and follow their Twitch. But Jono also puts out Minecraft videos as well as doing music, and I think he does other gaming too.
@@riuphane oh ok! just pointing it out.
Jono is... Ren's brother? I always assumed Jono was like. this music-making entity that just appeared in the hermit's lives one day 😂
Gem is such a delight. I’m so happy she joined Hermitcraft because that was my introduction to her because HC was the only Minecraft TH-cam I watched for years. She’s got such a fun sense of humor and always makes me smile. Thanks to Imp and Skizz for the great podcast and thanks to Gem for guesting on it! Made my morning!
Gem and Pearl were literally such perfect additions to Hermitcraft its crazy!
They fit right in with the vibe and bring new perspectives and ideas!
I just knew this was coming soon based on the positive energy on camera during Twitchcon
I am counting the days till Skizz gets Cub in. He's such an enigma and interesting dude I think Skizz would be entertained by him for days
@@enkays_den I reeeeeeeeallly wanna hear them talk about the golf thing Oh myyy xD
I became a big fan of hers. She looks like the sweetest person on Earth, but when Doc77 said he's afraid of Gem, i thought "here you go, the scariest person on the server. And she had the Ethos heads to prove it. You rule Gem!
GeminiSlay indeed.
Her talking about the DM's actually made me want to cry. It's terrible that that's what our world has come to. Love you Gem! ❤
Love this podcast! We've been following Gem since her 1.13 Survival Series. Our two girls, who love Minecraft, were excited to find a family-friendly female Minecrafter "like them", and we've been following ever since. (In fact, Gem is basically the one who introduced us to Hermitcraft!) Thanks for the interview! Looking forward to Part 2!
Gem wishing there were more females in the space...all the females in the space: "Gem! We're trying!😭 we'll get there!"
We can only go into the spaces the men allow us to go. We could do an all female SMP but the only way half the target population would be interested is if the females were f**kable. It’s a sad reality. Gen is lucky that she’s cute.
I love how Impulse really is different in this one! Typically, with guests, especially Hermits, Skizz leads the charge because Impy works with these people and knows them well, but Skizz doesn't. But this time was definitely different. Impulse talks differently with Gem then he does a lot of other people. There's a bubbly warmth mixed with excitement and I wouldn't be surprised if Gem reminded him a bit of his own daughter. She's clearly a mc daughter to him, at least.
But it wasn't just Impy, oooh no. I heard that tone of voice and saw the hand flex when Gem mentioned that some of her DMs... Likely were on the creeper side, and not the mc creeper... Skizz was instantly dad mode. I heard in the hum, I saw it in the sudden hand flex, it was beautiful!
Being a woman in the youtube space has got to be scary. We humans are maturing, but as all three of them pointed out, it's slow. We women still face a lot of challenges but it's always heartening to know you have good men/boys/guys/ ,what have, you in your corner. Because, and I love how Impy said it, at the end of the day, what's truly important is being a good human.
We're humans. Maybe we're female or male humans or no gender or both genders, or we have a specific type of partner, or a lack of desire for one, maybe our skin colors vary greatly from each other, but you know what? We're all humans. We're all physically the same race at the end of the day. Yes, culture, personal upbringing, self identity, and individual personality are all important, but, being a good human to other humans is really it.
Unfortunately, a lot of humans aren't good to other humans and I'm glad internet safety was really mentioned. I'm gonna date myself here but I remember when the internet was young and I was always taught, never give your real name, be cautious, use the same instincts online as you would with any physical conversation. People too often think they're safe, their immuned, that nothing can get them on the other side of the screen, but as Skizz mentioned, it's extremely easy to get someone's whole life story with just a few breadcrumbs of information...
The internet is a wild and untameable place and all we can do is try and carve out a safe place for ourselves, our kith and kin, and for content creator's, their fans as well. Imo a really good content creator is someone who recognizes their fans are giving srconds, minutes, hours, etc of their lives to them and while that might seem intimidating, might make them feel a need to put out the best content ever or they've failed us, in reality, I think me, and probably a fair few others, simply enjoy that not only are we getting content we like, but we feel safe, like your not gonna attack us or a lot of the bull some youtubers do or We're not gonna be attacking each other, and also we know that you know we love you.
A good fan community is as important as a good content creator, imo, and it makes me happy to see not only a good community but also the acknowledgment that it is and knowing it makes the content creators life a little better because they have a good community, feels good. (That was a whole rambling rant but I hope it got the point across.) (Tl;dr, you guys have good communities and you clearly value and acknowledge you do and it makes me happy and glad I'm apart of it!)
But alllll this aside, I'm excited for the next podcast!
35:24 YES. Gem. Say it louder for the ones in the back. 👏
Does this happen often? The comments and fan things I see for her is always so overly lovely and positive. Alone the fan art on her discord is amazing.
As a non creator maybe there are things I don't see, but that part of the interview stood out to me and left a question mark.
As an internet veteran the things said back then were really harsh and were not even punished.
Cheers!
@@minementalx Pearl has talked a bit about this on twitter. You don't see it because it gets caught in automod or they delete it asap.
@@minementalxI can’t speak to Gem’s experience specifically, but moderation has gotten better, which means viewers are seeing a better comment space generally than the creators or their mods do. Scar mentions that in his episodes, how he gets some really cruel comments as a disabled person and his mods do their best to clear that stuff away.
@@Mekrinel Not only that, but especially with communities like Gem and Scar have a lot of the hate will get snuffed out by all of the positivity, because that hate won't get the attention that they're looking for. Sadly that won't stop them from seeing it in creator studio or whatever but having the strong communities they have helps for sure
I feel like a fun special guest would be Joel (Smallishbeans) honestly would be so fun to listen to him chat about things
A great episode as always!
One note to Impulse, about not seeing people as labels but just as people: something I had to learn is that for a lot of people who are minorities in some particular way, they might consider that label to be an important part of their identity. And there are a lot of people out there who *do* see the label and treat that person in a negative way. So we do need to remember and acknowledge that the label is there.
Yeah; people are both people who experience and feel things and also people from particular contexts who experience the world in specific ways based on those contexts.
As a member of two notable minority communities, labels are important both for finding people with similar life experiences, and as a useful tool to advocate for our rights. I love Impuse, but I think he doesn’t realise that ‘I don’t see labels’ is actually a privilege that comes from being (or at least being largely perceived as) part of the majority in a person’s community. People within minority communities often need to be more aware of who is around us, and how they’re going to react to who we are for our own safety.
Gem is great!
Gem is great!
Adventuring is fun!
The whole conversation about someone from your past suddenly appearing in your comments happened to me once. This happened in a live stream, but it was a guy I went to school with who also live streamed games. However, he was terminally ill, and required a heart transplant. Just a month after coming into my stream, he finally had his heart transplant, but never woke up. This kind of hit me hard. He was interested in what I was doing, and said he'd be back to watch me often, but it never happened again.
Next guest should be Grian!! 😉
😂
yess
i wish grian is the last cuz it would just make me intrested more and more
He's busy cutting his fingernails.
@@906iphoneor boarding his loft...
I always thought I was weird for needing to go on a walk to process things or even just think better so that and the fact that I have the same white board in my room for organizing and planning my month makes me feel so heard!
There's a bunch of neat science behind why it helps, but yeah, going for a walk or something really does help! As a programmer I'll sometimes go work out when I'm stuck on a tricky question just because it's often the best way to deal with it.
And the whiteboard... Oh heavens. If I've got specific schedules to manage (rarely a thing for where I work since we try to avoid date commitments where feasible) the whiteboard gets turned into a calendar and I live and die by it until the project is done
Gem's sweater is so cute, as always! it's the Forest Green Fox Head Jumper by Run and Fly from the UK
I love how every hermit they’ve interviewed has said they’re a regular listener and big fan. It’s so amazing how they all support was other. 🥰
you guys HAVE to have Bdubs on now, after the conversation with how Gem views herself as minecraft artist!
Gotta love that every single guest episode turns in to a two parter.
The launch of PE was SUCH a cool time to be a kid. Amazing memories.
Gem be workin. Being an artist of any medium is so much more than just making and I don't think most people understand that. Thanks for another rad episode guys
Wow! Didn't expect to find you here!
Gem is the entire reason I learned how to have so much fun with Minecraft. It turned into a family affair for me, my kids, their cousins, and I’m so grateful.
Gem is a Gem💎 she is wonderful.
I LOVE your two-part interviews. I listen while working and I love that it gives you a chance to go deeper with great folks, without having to worry about time constraints.
Gem talking about having to guard her parents from the internet! YES!!! My dad ALWAYS is engaging with obvious spam accounts on Facebook. "No dad, this gal with hardly no clothes on from hundreds of miles away does not actually care how you're doing! That is a spam/scam account!"
You guys need Etho on the podcast. I'm sure you've probably already asked him already, but I just love Etho!
It will be so funny to see of him in his Let's Play or something while he talks, cause no camera hahah
@@idontcare_wtfThey actually had Xisuma on without a camera.
@@horserider7263 I got some podcast to check out then!
What I love most about these content creator guest podcasts is that you get to hear how they view content creation, and it’s always fresh and interesting.
Halfway through the video right now, and I’m just thinking to myself with how all these guest videos go.
Damn. I need an imp and skizz interview to reflect on my life and how far I’ve come. This feels like therapy listening to Gem’s journey
I knew this was coming!!! Gem has to be one of my favorite creators I've come across in the last few years, her vibes are immaculate. Loved hearing her talk about the importance of people in the majority calling out bad behavior toward minorities, bc they have more cred to those people than we do. And the importance of online safety!!! I'm looking forward to next week very much! 💜
So excited to see Gem. We just got our TCG cards in today, and are now the proud owners of a rare collectors edition signed GeminiTay card.
Love her vibe sm! And live the friendly chemistry between you all! Glad to be here early for the watch!
This has been super inspiring! As someone who has been interested in content creation, this one really connected with me. Gem has a lovely soul. I'm very thankful for this one at a hard time in my life. Thank you for having a great platform to have people share their experiences. I really enjoy these podcasts and appreciate hearing you all be yourselves.
This was unexpected but very fun surprise. I like how every weekend I hear and learn something new and have new things to think about, new motivation for another week
Gem is one of the most amazing and adorable members of the community, she is a talented, lovely, and wonderful human being. I'm so glad she was on here and can't wait until the next podcast! Gem thank you for being you!!!!
I love getting to know the hermits in this type of environment. I wasn't sure I'd dig the podcast and I'm constantly finding myself enjoying it and learning something.
30:00 I attended a class in 12th grade where my teacher made us stand in front of the class and present a dissertation without a written essay. we could write down key points but the majority of the presentation had to come off the fly, and if you said um or uh, she would make a loud buzzer noise and you'd have to start again. At the time, I thought it was so stupid, but as I grew up, I noticed people relying on filler words to hold conversation and I realized how important that lesson was. I thought it was cruel at the time but I couldn't be more grateful for it.
Gem you are a BEAUTIFUL human being!!!! Just understand that hurting people want to hurt people. Pity them, I cannot fathom how horrible life must be that they thrive off of trying to be toxic to others. I love you, many of people love you!!!!!
Gem just is so sweet I always love the interactions she has.
I love you guys, and your podcast, and how open you are talking about things, so I hope you'll take this comment in the spirit of wanting to share an experience that I've had to learn over a long (and difficult) time myself. And really is still a work in progress for me tbh.
On the topic of not seeing labels. Not everyone wants or needs labels. I myself am someone who holds the labels I've chosen pretty loosely. But I have CHOSEN them because they're useful to me in certain situations.
Hearing someone say they don't see labels or think of labels in relation to me doesn't feel awesome. Even for me, who is pretty easy going with them. There are folks who really have fought long and hard to find them. I get what you're saying, but I want to ask you to consider that I (and people who find labels meaningful to them) don't need protection from labels (whether they're self-chosen or someone else is trying to assign one that's untrue.) What I actually need is protection from the reactions of people to what they perceive my labels to be. Because they do see and apply labels to me (and others) beyond even the ones I pick for myself. And those reactions can be actively dangerous (mentally, emotionally, physically). Reminding them I'm human in spite of my labels is minor stakes. Remind them that people who fit that label are not wrong or bad. There's nothing wrong with being "label".
It's similar to why people of color don't feel comforted by hearing "I don't see color". These things impact how people experience the world and ignoring that part of the experience can be disheartening for people living it.
Yeah I had the same thought when hearing that part of the conversation. Like yeah…in an ideal world, your labels wouldn’t hinder you in life…but that doesn’t mean they will ever be totally invisible and honestly I’m not sure they should be.
I think the attitude of "We're all human" and "I just see the person" is unhelpful to the people who suffer because others don't see the world the same way. Until we have a truly equitable society, color-blindness or any other sort of blindness to racialized or marginalized people is less helpful than the people who do it, with good intentions ofc, think it is.
Might be my favorite interview yet. Gem is such an awesome person!
Gem! This was so fun to watch/listen to! Looking forward to next friday!
I’m so glad that Gem could be on the podcast! I love watching the podcast, and having Gem here just makes it even better!! Gem is great!
Oh man Gem was one of the hermits that I was really hoping y'all would get on, so hyped
i love that gem's native accent peeks through a little here and there when she feels comfortable with the people she talks to.
No no no. I love part 2's! It just means we get more amazing content with the guests next week.
really enjoyed this one. I've been watching gem since around 2017, 2018, and have loved seeing her grow through the years. her talking about being in artist in minecraft really reminded me of things bdubs talks about in his videos and applies to his builds, along with things joe hills talks about - not just his builds being the art, but his videos themselves are his art, and the way he always refers to hermitcraft as an artist collective, for example. love the podcast
This makes me so happy!!!! 😊love all of you.
Gem on the podcast, woohoo! I love the chemistry between the 3 of you so this is gonna be great, like Gem!
Listening to you guys has really helped me, thank you for the content Imp and Skizz!
Love Gem. Had a feeling this podcast was coming. Hearing from someone my own age and their process into TH-cam content creation is very interesting and inspiring. Something ive always been very sad about is the challenges and hate if thats the right way to describe it that females face in content creation. I credit Gem for mentioning it but also Skizz and impulse for providing this brilliant platform to get it out there and spread awareness. Thank you for another brilliant podcasts cant wait for part two ❤
Love Gem…So focused. Go Gem. May all your dreams flow richly
It was such a great pt 1, I can't wait to see more of Gem! Would also love to see Pearl in the podcast she is amazing!
Her talking about watching the OG Mindcrackers is very relatable.
Have Stressmonster on next to talk about her perspective of balancing life/work.
Yes
I love the cliffhangers! Looking forward to next week!
Para-social stuff is so strange, and probably the main thing that makes me, personally, uncomfortable with the idea of doing the TH-cam thing for myself. All three of you (and all your peers) are braver than I. :)
Gem, love your content. There's a frenetic energy that really resonates with me.
Imp, Skizz, this podcast always brings a smile to my face. Keep up the great work!
I see gem in the thumbnail, i clicked so fast! I love this podcast so much! So much helpful insights for the youth and older generations alike to be aware of. Thank you imp and skizz and Gem for making this happen. ❤❤❤ and the cliffhangerrrrrr ohh mannn leaving us hanging like that! It worked. 👏👏👏 Lol 😅
How you guys got started as youtubers is the same way I got into Film and Video creation. Just start doing it and make as much as you can. Just doing it is how it really works.
ive been hoping for this episode!!! great as always :)
You could ask Philza to come on, I think his experience with Hardcore and streaming would offer an interesting perspective. And I know Impulse knows who he is😊
She's so sweet. Can't wait for next week. Another great episode, men!
Another really great podcast! Thank you for making these and keep up the great work!
The podcast I've been waiting for, I just love her positivity
you all are so amazingly talented! and inspiring!
Great podcast & a great guest - full cred' to GT for giving us such an insightful overview of RL as a popular and talented YT content creator. Thanks to you all.
Gem! I’ve been wanting her on the show for so long!
This is my first episode and I’ll definitely tune in more after this…Gem is probably my biggest Minecraft inspiration. I am so glad that she was featured!
"The only thing you need, is to want it." Everyone you bring on the show has such amazing insights, I never expected so many one liners lol.
Well now I am doubly glad I waited to watch them BOTH at the same time lol
Some very important and insightful things were talked about, good work. And thanks for the laughs as well
I still find it hard to believe that Gem is 27, she looks maybe 20 at most
So cool to see Gem on the podcast! She's one of the first youtubers I watched. It was interesting to hear more about her experience as a Minecraft TH-camr.
GEMM!!! IM SO EXCITED TO WATCH THIS!!! ❤
The thing i love about Gem, skizz and impulse is their down to earth attitudes.
I always find these podcasts very informative and helpful.
I was building and recording while listening to this, and I hope to be one of the creative videos channels that was talked about.
YAY GEMMMM!!! YESSS!!! Love ya gem
I like Gem because she is so "down to earth" I remember when I started watch Gem channel she was doing a hardcore world and she was studying to a nurse and she told that she liked TH-cam but she would consider working as a nurse just in case.. that is very mature thing to do at that age and I was impressed.. and she didn't quit the studies even though her TH-cam channel was growing. So at a time in her early TH-cam she studied to be a nurse and doing content on TH-cam.. that is also impressive.. She I'd pretty cool 😊
Love the cozy couch setup. Great podcast as always!
Can't wait for part 2!
Whoop whoop! Gem time!
I love listening to this podcast! it's actually Help me with my Content! thanck you Both for makeing this podcast!
I've been a long looong time subscriber of Gem. I wish I interacted with her content more, i was always a lurker, but its insane to see how much she grew and learned from what she was doing. Gosh.. i remember been a pre-teen and i didnt like her becuase I thought her voice-overs were too breathy. I remember her family dog Wilson, who i think insipred her to get Winnie.
I remember when there was a rumour that she was 6'3, I remember when she said she wanted a dog but had to get a house with a yard first.
Its been such a long time but so fun to watch her grow.
Gem, if you ever see this, i adore you. I wish you nothing but happiness and success
Super insightful episode. Really enjoyed hearing about all the processes that go on behind the scenes.
Yes yes yes!!!!! Gem podcast episode!! 🎉
Gem is great! I'm looking forward to part two.
Loved this! Amazing pod!
This was brilliant. As a fellow Canuckian, and soon to be eventually a transplanted Maritimer (from away), I can say that Gem is right up there with Linus as our most favourite exports. It used to be William Shatner, maybe Ryan Reynolds for a bit, never (ever) John Roberts, but for sure GeminiTay. Her bright presence is always a joy. Thanks for showcasing her!
Excited to listen to this one!
Really enjoyed the podcast. And Gem is so real. Nice to see the down to earth lady who does well. And love your work gentleman. Very entertaining to watch your minecraft stuff as well.
Gem describing her initial style of Minecraft as being an artist using it as the medium is so validating ngl. Most of my worlds are creative, and specifically for me to build big artistic showpieces in, and while I myself consider creative minecraft it a form of 3d art tool, it can be hard to really believe that what I make could be considered art (whether it's good or bad art is fortunately irrelevant to this 😂)
I'm not aiming to do the youtube but I am aiming to do the writing in my future and I'm learning so much about self-emplyment, about what it means to be a creative who has to schedule out their own work-life-sleep balance.
some things don't directly translate between these two spaces, but a lot of things do. So it's really nice to hear you open up about your experiences, so others can take lessons from them for their own lives.
