actually that s a big misconception people have.
In undertale they can absorb monster souls but only Boss monster souls.
I have a minitheory on this, its only because a same type of soul as yours cant live alongside yours within your body, but chara has no soul
And besides chara isnt exactly absorbing your as much as they are posessing it

Blizzzy SnowBear he isn't even strong, he just uses fucking bullet hell attacks. Papyrus is definitely stronger, but monsters are a reflection of their soul, the less they want to harm someone the less damage they do. And he is an innocent cinnamon roll so that explains his challenging but simple attacks

That is an misunderstanding. First the intro was meant for Chara it doesn't make sense that they used Chara as beginning for frisk's story. The poor child Chara has died of poisoning herself with buttercups to save the Underground. And she gave her soul to Asriel. And Asriel failed to save the underground and his dust possessed a flower. With determination from Alphys' experiment, Asriel became Flowey. Chara, body found near the flowers, was buried under a patch of buttercups at the falling place. When Frisk fell, their strong Determination woke Chara up in a ghost-like form. That is the main reason you have a Narrator telling you things. It doesn't make sense that she walked towards frisk. Chara was already with frisk the entire time they were in the underground. And the animation for frisk and Chara don't make sense. They're too tall. This is my reason I don't like this game.

Sans saying "Papyrus, do you want anything?" is honestly more heartbreaking after a genocide run. (For me I watched JackSepticEye's play through of it. I can't commit myself to kill the characters I've come to love. And I actually have yet to play Undertale so.....yea. I've just watched about every video about it on the internet. 😆)
