The Gold Hog Multi Sluice is one of the premier gold clean-up tools around. The Multi Sluice is designed to reduce the amount of concentrate you have to a manageable size. It does not give completely clean gold, but rather reduces the amount of concentrates so the remainder is easier to clean completely with a gold pan. In this review test I use a bucket of High Banker cons and run them through the first run on the Multi Sluice which is designed to leave about 1 cup of material. Which I then clean up with simple gold panning. In the second video of this review I will run all three runs where I use the MultiSluice to bring down the cons to about 1 tablespoon. Thanks Dan, great video and thanks for understanding the capture rates. The Multi Sluice is designed for REDUCTION as its primary goal. (It's a concentrate cleaner) We ALWAYS assume there will be a 2-5% loss by weight simply because we are throwing basically ALL HEAVY concentrates at it. On my second run I usually classify a bit smaller and play with the angle too. When running the WASHER mat... #2 stripping mat. It's critical to understand that we REALLY push the cons hard and there's not a lot of places for the gold to hide. What does this mean? Any large flakes, round nuggets etc... that have a strong hydraulic drag will sometimes be pushed out as well. But when STRIPPING the black sands, one has to lose the fear of losing gold. We want to TRY and blow the gold out almost. It's fun to play with all the angles and pitches too. Be safe out there. DOC

Great video! I love my Multi-sluice. Really important to use the pvc inserts to limit water flow with the different mats. When you use it per Doc’s instructions, I feel it’s one of the best out there for clean up.

Awesome Dan. Your results mirror mine exactly with the Multisluice...I would never be without mine now - it's saves countless hours panning cons. Also good as a mini field unit too with the coarse mat...I just classify to minus 1/2".
My son loved using my flowpan so much, I had to get him one for last Christmas. The Multi sluice is next. Truly great mining products & a life saving for us who only get to yo prospecting a couple of times a year.

I have used Docs equipment from the very beginning. Helped him test many times. This unit can take 5 gal of cons to a cupful in under 10 minutes with a capture rate over 95 percent on the first run. So you can get back out prospecting. Save the 2nd run for bad weather days, there wont be much in it anyway. Nothing will catch 100 percent of the gold, there will always be acceptable losses. The amount of material you can run and the time it saves along with the capture rate makes this unit the best on the market.
During one test we put well over an ounce of gold in 5 gal of cons, ran it then went to get a drink. Well we got to talking (nawww, Docs really shy and dont like to talk, ha ha) and realized 30 minutes had past with the unit still running (we were really testing a new battery Doc found). After running the tailings again even Doc was surprised how little gold had escaped. I use mine all the time
It is also very good for testing a new area.

Maybe not enough water with the small pump, but make a screen (small fryer basket) to fit the upper box would save pre-classification.

One thing I like about battery equiptment, they are QUIET! Nice vid, Thanks.
I love mine👍. Different cons may require different angles. Also lower flow rates can scrub mats so watch your angle and pump rise and hose length. Is there a line of black sand on the beach? Watch for a definite line where flood water receded and wave action concentrated the good stuff. Your multi sluice will love it!
Your videos have inspired me to start looking for gold. I don’t really live in the best country to find gold (Northeastern Colorado). But i think it will be a fun hobby to get into. Could you do a beginners video? It would be greatly appreciated.

Doc is good people and makes good products for what it's designed for. I have just 1 issue with most of the products and maybe if Doc is reading these he can chime in. I think we have to be more efficient with what we are doing. Just take a look at how you got to the point of doing this video. You had to somehow get those cons, no doubt it took you a day to get those cons. And yet you still have a ton of work to pan out what you have left. Does that seem efficient to you ? It would be great to have or make a more efficient pan, in my opinion. Even the blue bowl is not efficient as you have run the cons 2-3 times. There are 1000s of products out there that get you to super cons and I'm afraid they all just make it way to difficult to pan out in the end.

And it was a very good video I hope part 2 is going to reflect the extra hard work in panning those super cons out.

Bad valve. It's fixable.
@@Danhurd I had a bicuspid aortic valve, had it replaced 4 1/2 yrs ago. No problems now. I was 65 when I had it done.

Wow Dan good call on mentioning how that second run was surprising but just at the same time. When I saw the results from your first run that second run was certainly 2% maybe even less really. That's judging from the larger pieces of gold tho as I saw a lot of fines in the first run material but I couldn't see much for fines in the second run. That Doc guy has a great gig going for the gold hounds out west.
Hi Dan, I have a Gold hog Piglet. I do not have at yet the Multi Sluice, but I did notice what I believe did could improve on as per Doc, your mat at the top of the sluice should be more of a rounded curve, it looks like you have that mat tucked in real tight to a 90 degree angle.

Hey Dan, I have heard that it is a bad idea to let the sluice run after running your material because it could white wash the gold out. Is that true? Or only on large rigs like Gold Rush guys run? What is your thoughts? Obviously I am NO expert and just trying to learn. Thanks sir! Hope you get your health issues ironed out.
The Gold Hog mats' designs allows (reasonable) final washing after the run of material without Gold loss. OTHER systems (depending on specific design) may well loose gold to wash out. All the Best, Joe S. (AK)

Great video Dan, Sorry to hear about the ticker problem. I am wondering if running a second box below the first would be different than a second run? It would seem to do the same thing, but half the time, only one cleanup, and half the battery consumption, and the second box could have a different slope and even different mats.

I use the multi sluce a lot . I took my black sand that I ran through a blue bole and ran it in the gold hog and I was shocked how much gold I was loosing in the blue bowl .

Another great video Dan...really highlights how to properly use the equipment. I’ve been a believer in Hold Hog equipment for a very long time and I’m still surprised at how well these mats work (I have the Stream Sluice that I have converted to a highbanker ). I was really torn between the Multi and the Stream Sluices when I bought and I wen the way I did because I was primarily looking for a top notch primary recovery not a cleanup system. Great video but honestly to me doesn’t seem worth the time labour cleaning and cost.... to just classify concentrates smaller and having to do it a second time... basically we both start off with a half bucket of concentrate you use the Hog I’ll just use a pan... the challenge is who finishes first, has the best catch percentage and makes it to the car all equipment cleaned ready to go... great video though love seeing gold!!!

I live in Georgia and as you know that is where Doc's manufacturing plant is and he lives also. I meet Doc several years ago and went to several of his training sessions. I learn something new about catching gold every time I talk with him. He is spending a lot of his time now with commercial operations but it you have any questions about capturing gold especially small gold, Doc is your man to go to.

When you do multi runs you get more and more gold . Like a car racer once said speed costs money and more speed costs more money . Same with gold ,speed costs gold, and more speed costs more gold . This is fast for clean ups and that is the goal . Less time cleaning up
Would it be useful to put the pan you showed in this video below the end of the sluice with a finer riffle/catch mat before it ran into the safety bucket? Or just easier to run it again?

Dan I have used it on BLACK SAND FROM THE WASHINGTON BEACH AT CAPE DISAPOIMENT works great.that black sand it is very hard to pan out thick and heavy multi sluice makes it almost a brease have a great day in canada
