Stoked for this video. Loved this album and saw them tour Cork in Ireland one freezing November. About 25 or 30 people in the crowd. Got to chat to Al, Scott and Dale after the show. Scott dropped his gear just to shake our hands and I was talking to Dale for a good 20 minutes (absolute gent). Wino disappeared straight after they got off stage so I didn’t question that hahaha. They were amazing. Still have my poster and CD and spin the album from time to time. Feel lucky to have seen them especially given the unfortunate situation that came to light more recently. Thanks for covering this! Hopefully more will discover it! For my money, one of if not the best metal supergroup ever. Definitely the most unsung.
Yo, Nick! We got two album announcements coming in. Periphery are releasing their 7th album on March 10th, entitled Periphery V: Djent is Not a Genre and Cattle Decapitation will be releasing their tenth studio album on May 12th entitled Terrasite.
It's great you boys dug this one up,cos this album is a spiritual experience...The riffs are killer, which is to be expected. Shame they couldn't follow it up.
When this album came out I was working with a friend who teased the supergroup by casually telling me about a 'new' band that was coming out, I was passively listening (not really paying attention) until he started listing all the names involved, I then proceeded to drop the item I had in my hand in slow disbelief and stare up at the person telling me this.... NO FUCKING WAY!!!!! that was about a month before the album dropped, it has since been one of my all-time favorite superband projects! FLAWLESS VICTORY!!!! (I wonder if they will ever do another album????)
Necrotic Nick- I still have my CD I got the day it came out. When I heard about this project I was sold just on the line up. Generally I'm more cautious when it comes down to supergroups but I had a feeling about this one.
Good but not great (how was it ever going to live up to the promise of the line-up): at the time it felt like the closest thing we'd get to a new Sleep record, I think Al was the MVP but Wino (who is a phenomenal musician) feels kinda underutilised. The first show I had tickets for got cancelled by a volcano eruption (which is pretty metal) but when I saw the rescheduled show it did not gel well in a live setting, IMO. Weird vibe. Not surprised they didn't go back and try again.
I was disappointed in this. It felt pretty disjointed and outside of the first track, each track seemed like a watered down version of the band each respective main vocalist came from. Wino in particular seemed to be a square peg in comparison to the sludgy heavy vibe the rest of them come from. I listened to it a while back and I will agree that the recording is great. I think the Melvin's main guy Toshi was involved.
This was one of the first supergroups I anticipated and subsequently a bit disappointed by. Nothing wrong with the album. In fact it's rather enjoyable but it's not greater than the sum of its parts. I'm a big fan of all of the members' other bands. There aren't a whole lot of Downs in this world.

I was just getting into Sleep at that point so I really dug it and that doomy vibe that Scott Kelly brought was awesome. Supergroups are unfortunately really hit or miss but I think this was one of the good ones... so naturally it was short lived lol.
It was an ok album in my opinion but I gave it away with a bunch of other CD'S in my collection to Darcy6strings on TH-cam who I'm friends with along with a few others that follow Darcy's channel. But other wise very good review guys.🤘🍺

Shrinebuilder! Got the reissue vinyl a few years back, I had the cd initially, I am going to be brief, Shrinebuilder is supergroup done right

The best Shrinebuilder songs weren’t even on this album, but there’s some great live videos of them. The songs are Nagas 1&2.
