Other teammates and I just looked at each other “trial at Penrith or just keep working where we are? “ Ben / Scott motivated me, if a Ayer of his poor quality can make it , any junior can make it . Our jersey Flegg / presidents cup side had a pic of Ben in our dressing room with the inscription , Nearly all who watched Ben / Scott play , was graded - “The Ben Scott Factor” “If they can make it, we can all make it” Upon Ben’s passing, his picture was removed with respect

I wouldn’t call that Norths team in ‘91 chokers. Penrith and Canberra were just a bit more classy and experienced. I’d say the Bears blew it most in ‘96. They should have beat the Dragons but just blew it on the day.
If Panthers don’t win 2023 Premiership it would mean Panthers replication of Bears premiership 100 years apart. Considering they’re playing in this game.

Norths choked so many times in early 90s they had a pretty decent team very god pack probably one of the best in the comp especially the back row
