@@chrisbennett6395 in a place like west Texas our ideal fruit set temps have already passed so yea.. too late for some of us unless you want a fall harvest
I went to your store yesterday and loved it. I got tons of plants I can't get anywhere else. I was helped by a wonderful person( I wish I remembered her name) who answered all my questions and helped us find a great place for lunch. I was taken for my birthday, and had a perfect day. Thank you 😁
A few years ago, I tried for the first time a Garden Peach tomato. Grew it in a raised bed with Mark’s Mix. This one plant turned into a mega tomato plant with tomatoes everywhere! I had never seen anything like it! Totally outperformed everything else I planted.
So happy you are doing sponsorships to help out the channel!! I've been watching since the beginning and seeing you, your channel and family grow has been such a pleasure.
I grow one called millefleur (1000 flowers) that grows a small yellow tomato in huge trussels that can easily pull the plant to the ground if you're not careful. It's crazy productive!
German Lunchbox, I got from Baker Creek. Super productive, produces before everything else, ripens first. Makes great sauce and salsa because it's sweet.
I think productivity has a lot to do with your growing conditions. These were my 5 most productive heirlooms last year (central Illinois): Sart Roloise (yellow/purple shoulders), Purple BumbleBee (large cherry/ awesome flavor), Terra Cotta (dark orange), Large Barred Boar (dark red/green/BIG), and Snow White (small saladette sized). I single-stem, vertical garden (except on the Bumble Bee which got ahead of me and took over half my garden).
surely does but there must also be the genetics. have you ever had lots of fruits for your Black Krim or Cherokee Purple?...mygreathanks and blessings🙏
I had a black cherry that took over too. I couldn't keep up with the harvest and fruit was rotting and falling everywhere. Consequently, I had a thousand volunteers this spring. It was not on my grow list for this year, but decided to give one plant a chance for its resilience and determination. 😂😂 They're still sprouting everywhere. 😅
Romas are very productive plants and don't get to wild but can get tall purple bumblebee is a great grower red pride bush is great for a smaller slicer tomato plant check out my youtube
I'm growing the Rose De Berne this year. I've added the other four you mentioned to next year's consideration list. Glad you and James Prigioni recommended it. Great video Luke!
coming from someone who bought from migardener i have high expectaton of the centiflor tomato that was my first purchase from him, its in my seed tray right now growing and i just feel its such a unique variety that people should grow openly more, also luke if you see this, can you make a video of just walking around the garden talking about different things? i know its not on channel topic but i feel the walk through your garden while discussing what you think needs to be seen more in the world would be really pleasant with the serenity, your such a kind guy just dont let overwhelmingness corrupt and turn you bad, always remember your persona and personal life,
Honestly we had a June 15th frost last year that stunted or killed all the tomatoes in my area, I was one of few gardeners who got tomatoes by the end of the season and it was only 2 plants out of 20. They were the 2 giant crimsons I planted and I got enough tomatoes off them to can salsa and marinara for the entire year! They were the most prolific tomatoes I have ever grown, my season is too short for a whole ton of production but it's dry so disease isn't an issue
2023, and this is my first garden! I purchased MIGardener Cherry-licious. A mix of indeterminate cherry tomato seeds. There are lots of varieties in one packet. I can't wait to see what varieties I have growing now!
My absolute favorite cherry tomato that seems quite productive is the tropical sunset. It's not only a really pretty tomato but super tasty! Kinda sweet and fruity.
Love your videos, have been watching for YEARS! One thing I would LOVE is the labeling of “indeterminate & determinate “ on your website for ordering and on all the packets. That would be awesome! Grow big!! 🤗❤️
I have always grown Sweet 100 cherry tomatoes. But I saw one of your garden tours last year and couldn't believe how much fruit was on your Centiflor tomatoes. I bought seeds from you this year and am very exciting to try them!
@@Bassslayer0 While there were many flowers on each stem, many tomatoes did not develop. The skins were very tough and the fruit was difficult to remove from the stem. I didn't like them, am not growing them this year.
We had a lousy year in 2022 due to drought. Out of 10 plants we got about 2 dozen tomatoes (including the cherry tomatoes). This year I have 48 plants 🙀, 10 cherry and 15 large tomatoes with 2 of most varieties. Of course we’ve gotten more rain this year (S TX) so I’ll be swimming in tomatoes soon. I’m most excited about the Pineapple and Pink Brandywine. We always grow Kellogg’s Breakfast and Red Brandywine so looking forward to the many varieties this year that we’ve never grown.
Try out Reimer seeds "floridade" tomatoe I'm in zone 8b Georgia and we were under moderate drought most of the year and we basically gave up on our garden it literally only got water when it rained and it was the last one standing out of the 5 varieties we grew
Need to check out Napa Charonnay. It's a sweet yellow grape shape.... cherry tomato. It grows in clusters...like grapes. Super heavy ...needs extra support for the tomatoes. It's a must have in my garden. It's so good...I will just grab a handful....as a snack.
Can confirm that Rose De Berne is both a tasty and productive tomato. I really enjoyed eating it fresh on a tomato, basil and mozzarella panini. I would say it has a nice balance of sweet, acid and tanginess.
I’m in the southwest desert zone 9b. Growing red centifleur that I ordered from you. Wow great tomato. plants are about 4 1/2 ft high and have lots of blooms and tomatoes. My aunt came over and could not believe the buds on this plant. I have not tried one yet as the tomatoes on them are still green. Also growing blush tomatoes and here in Arizona they are pumping out the tomatoes and starting to ripen. They are a beautiful yellow long cherry with pink and red streaks. So beautiful.
I’m growing Silver Fir for the third time this year. It produces way ahead of my indeterminate’s and continues into the fall and I’m in North Idaho. This is the only determinate I’ve grown and will always be one I grow in my garden.
Wow! You probably have short season. We are in western Washington and I just don't plant large tomatoes, nothing more than a couple of ounces. Summers are incredibly unpredictable.
Here (NE Illinois, Great Lakes region, Z5) I planted Silvery Fir last year, for the first time, using seeds from Seed Savers Exchange. Yes, like Glacier, it did seem to have a long season. And it produced even in containers set in partial shade. That said, it seemed a bit sensitive to disease.
Woo who! I feel excited. I have five Ace 55s and two Centiflor tomato plants set out this year. Along with a bunch of others. And the other three mentioned (I have grown the yellow pear the last three years and it is insane!) I've got marked for consideration next year. They look really interesting.
I got a free pack of Ace 55 a couple of years ago,. I love it and its one I plant each year now. Im going to bookmark this video to watch in December before ordering seeds.
Black Cherry, all the proper flavor of a 'black' Krim (produces more and quicker then the cherokee or brandy) in a quick small tomato. Quick to ripen and becomes a huge vine, I grow it up metal box frames, 3ft to the first bar, 4ft then max of 5ft with a horizontal bar at the top in case I need the space (like layered tables, spaced and staked twice)- I only plant ONE Black Cherry all within eye level I can let 9ft of vine grow in central michigan
Thanks for the tips im definitely going to see if I can source at least one of these for this season and have added all to my shopping seed list for next year
I'm in Central NC, zone 7b (just a hair short of 8a) and it gets HOT and HUMID down here. Last year, we had extreme drought conditions and many days over 100 degrees. But my Arkansas Traveler, Delicious and Dester plants produced and produced and produced. and did not back down in our brutal conditions And they were all good sized, delicious maters! So for your Southern gardeners, those might be some to try.
Thanks for the tips 👍 similar here but I’m a hair into zone 8a in Georgia. I actually just set out an Arkansas Traveler and have a couple of Desters ready to go. I tried Dester last year and it died on me early 😕 so got different seeds and am trying again 🤞 Our German Johnson and Old German tomatoes did fairly well for us last year and so tasty! I’ll have to check out the Delicious variety
@@cherylk1518 I was skeptical with a name like "Delicious", but it lived up to it! Sorry to hear about your Dester . I had never grown it until last year and I was super impressed. Hopefully you'll have better luck
@@cherylk1518 You're welcome, I was a bit skeptical with a name like Delicious, but it lived up to the name, and they get BIG. I'm sorry to hear about your Dester plant, but hopefully you'll have better luck this year. Arkansas Traveler wasn't a huge tomato - maybe the size of a tennis ball, but they were early and prolific, so they produced well before blight and weather got the best of them.
I like it when people say where they got their seeds. There are so many similar varieties. It seems like different sellers call the same tomatoes etc. by different names. I try to buy from MIG every year. Waiting on my order to arrive any day now.
Thanks for the advice, Luke! I had never heard of 4 of those. This year, I'm growing Cherokee Purple, Paul Robeson, Beefsteak, Wood's Famous Brimmer, Brad's Atomic Grape, Pink Bumblebee, Sunrise Bumblebee, Amish Paste, and San Marzano.
I am doing Tiny Tim and spoon tomato’s this year for the first time. I believe I ordered them through you. I ordered like 30 packs of seeds recently and finally got them all planted. I’m so excited for some beans I got too!! ❤ Thanks so much
I have not tried ANY of these yet, but I have them on next year's list. Meanwhile, I planted "Chocolate Stripes" and "TripLCrop" seds that I bought from you 3 years ago, and they all germinated. Thank you!
Thank you for these tips! Too late for this year though :D I didn't think of productivity when I pick my varieties. This year I picked for interest and utility. I have some black ones, yellow pear, paste, and bush tomatoes since they're hardy for me here. I'll definitely consider productivity more in the future. It makes sense to be more efficient with the growing space too.
I bought and tried about 20 varieties from you last year. I did try Ferderle. Wa.Peach was the other of the two I didn't even bother saving seeds from. Ferderle were a very weak, lack luster plants. They were slow, skimpy and just weak. I didn't get much fruit at all. The Wa.Peach was nice plants and quite a few fruits but literally sacks of water. No firmness to the fruits and no flavor. Every other variety grew fantastic, strong and produced very well.
Love these!! I can’t wait to try them all next season. I am currently growing the Red Centiflor, my plant has many many flowers with a few tomatoes ripening up. Absolutely a beautiful plant as you said, I can’t wait to taste them. Currently in my garden, I am growing about 12 to 15 different varieties of tomatoes, to include your Giant Crimson. At this time I have many tomatoes ripening up, I haven’t had the opportunity to taste them yet. I am so anxious. I can’t stand it!! I love your recommendations, I always grow everything you recommend. Even if some of the vegetables you recommend are not feasible due to the heat in South Houston, I still give it a try. Thank you very much for your insight, advice, and tips. God Bless ❌⭕️🙏🏽♥️
You should check out the Bison Tomato. Easiest to grow. No pruning. And the most prolific tomato I have ever grown. 10 plants gave me 22 gallons of salsa last year.
I would add Orange Roussolini to this list! I’ve grown them every year since you started offering seeds and the plants are loaded every year!! :) I’m growing ONLY them this year, plus one Red Centiflor. :)
Omg…I’m going to need a starter pack with all of these varieties. I’m growing lots of tomatoes but none that as good as these 😅 Juliette and Verona are my my favorites for roasting with fresh garlic, basil, oregano and red pepper flakes with olive oil. Still growing red snapper for a determinate. Started a variety of cherry and micro dwarfs for my daughter. A couple yellow tomatoes. Ox heart is a favorite.
My personal favorites are sun gold, and lemon drop. I planted double seeds, and couldn't bring myself to "sacrifice" any, so I ended up with DOUBLE seedlings I kept together. In 2 storage totes, (approximately 18x24 each), I grew SO many, I was eating them right off the vine, taking some in the house, plus, I gave some to friends! 🍅🍅
Lol I remember your first videos and I loved them. I was about your age, and it was nice seeing someone my age actually doing something instead of partying
I wasn’t sure what I bought when I bought this tomato, because I never seen so many tomatoes. I grow about 25 varieties a year, and literally more cherry tomatoes then I’ve ever seen. This one plant had as many tomatoes as 5 plants of other varieties total.
I'd recommend Barry's Crazy Cherry tomato, just as productive for me as Yellow Pear without that pesky tendency to crack. It has earned a permanent spot in my garden lineup.
Ive got Ace started! I grew yellow pear cherry tomatoes last year.. they were really good and productive..but i found they split easily. I’m growing San Marzano’s .. first for me this year. I’ll add Fedele to my wish list for next year. Love James’ channel too! That’s where I heard about the Rose de something tomato.. I was going to add it this year, but I just couldn’t justify buying more tomato seeds (ive got around 40 varieties of tomato seeds already.. some waiting their turn still. Centiflore.. next year Luke! Thanks for the information. Your greenhouse looks amazing!!
Love the video, and I'm going to grow the red centiflor this year (on your recommendation. But, as someone who knows a little Italian and Latin, it is NOT a thousand flowers, but rather a hundred (which is more than good anyway). Ciao.
Started my red centiflor tomatos from seed indoors about 2 weeks ago looks like its about ready to be transplanted can't wait to get it out in the garden 😁
I will have to try the centiflore. Have you tried chocolate sprinkles? Super productive & super sweet snacking as the name suggests. I grew them once & brought a big bowl to work everyday for months. My staff appreciated it.
If you snap your leeks of the crown instead of digging you do not hurt the patch. Find a dense clump and dig out a few center leeks and snap of above the root base . After a few snapped leeks it gets easier.. the crown of that leek mass remains healthy for next year
My most productive were Big Beef, Jet Star, 2 hybrids. Heirlooms were German Lunchbox, a saladette size, Giant Belgium Pink, Green Giant. love flavor of Classic Beefsteak and Amish Paste.
About the Ace 55. You said it is semi determinate. How do you take care of semi determinate tomatoes? Do they need some support growing, do they need pruning?
My most productive tomato BY FAR year after year has been blueberries tomatoes from migardener seeds. At the end of the season it’s the only tomato plants I have that are still alive and thriving because of the humidity here in kentucky.
I love the San Marzano. I’ve started some Roma too just cos I could. I have a Pineapple tomato for snacking although it can produce a nice size Tom and then a 800g one on the same plant!!. I might try to get some seed from these ones for next year
One of my favourite varieties is called Rapunzel it's a cherry tomato I got seeds really late last year and it still out produced all my other varieties
I'm really glad I went back to watch this because I'm going over what plants are going in the garden and which ones I'm giving away. I have federle starts and was trying to decide if I should give it a shot. I will definitely be putting one in the garden this year.
Well, on the more common name tomato plant, I grew 2 romas, and I was giving tomatoes away. I got so many it was crazy. They made great tomato sauce and chili.
I am growing the red centifor this year for the first time. I just put my seedlings in the garden. I put Trifecta around the top of the soil. Will I need to fertilize more to have the abundant growth?
I've had a garden in the SE for over 20 years and I've only heard of one of the tomato varieties that you mentioned... Red pear. Maybe those varieties don't grow well on the coast of NC?
Luke, thanks man. Your videos are a lot of fun. I feel like you've covered every vegetable I can think of and you keep coming out with more fun content. Friggin great
Luke I love this type of content I’d loved to hear a top 10 or more. I have to say I was very sad with Rose De Burne good taste but sadly mines weren’t as productive but want to give them another shot so if you have some advice for Rose de Burne let us know. Thank you
Hey Luke, I started some Tiny Tim and Brandywine Pink from seed TWICE. Both times, they germinated nicely. I kept them evenly moist. They grew about 1 inch and then stopped growing. Could this be a seed problem?
Yellow Pear I imagine must be the same because Ive always grown those and I just dont stop picking fruit once it starts, that plant just goes and goes and goes. lol gosh dangit luke!!!! Now I have to put in another order and hope I can grow them in time up here LOL I have so many varieties of tomato seeds hahhaahha whats 4 more LOL
Luke, have you tried 4 th of July, I grew it last year for the first time, and it out produced every other tomato I tried. It has great disease resistance also.
I'm trying out 4 types that I saved seeds from fruit I got from some Amish last year. Mountain Fresh, Mountain Merit, Jerusalem, and Big Rainbow. I figure they know what to grow, ha.
Ha ha! I've seen some of your early videos Luke. Lol. The dancing gardener! He he he! & the hair? OMG! I did enjoy it, BTW. Hopefully you'll keep posting until this video seems out of Noah's ark. I wonder what will be the most productive tomatoes in 10 years time?
Nice video! This is the first time I've actually clicked the link for any TH-cam sponsor, but I signed up on Farmish just 45 minutes ago and already have an order for 4 dozen farm fresh eggs waiting for me! I've been looking for a new contact since last summer when I lost my egg supplier because a coyote ate most of her chickens. :-(
So, it isn't necessarily TOO late to start tomatoes. Mine were all started just a little over a month ago and they are already really big, like more than large enough to already have gone in the garden a couple weeks ago! And I still have over 3 weeks to go before I can plant them outside. I started a couple more types a couple weeks ago and they'll be big enough to go out at the same time.
I planted 10 different varieties of tomatoes from MI Gardner seed today and none are on this list. I did plant the Wisconsin 55 and yellow pear. I only planted 48 plants, now I need to get more seed. 🍅🍅🍅
Thank you Luke for the recomenssations, this will be our first year growing our garden. Do you have all these recommended varieties of tomatoes in your store .?
The only tomato I have ever had success with is pink brandywine....took 17 bamboo steaks to prop it up... delicious fruit but not resistant to nuttin... can be difficult to stay healthy 😊

Good info, thanks!
Whew! I’m growing 5, the two from Luke are Sweetie & Moneymaker, both doing well. Hopefully I can add more next year.
I’m growing lots of tomatoes but none that as good as these 😅
Juliette and Verona are my my favorites for roasting with fresh garlic, basil, oregano and red pepper flakes with olive oil.
Still growing red snapper for a determinate. Started a variety of cherry and micro dwarfs for my daughter. A couple yellow tomatoes. Ox heart is a favorite.
The Monte Carlo is my fav so far of all the varieties i've tried. about 35.
I wish you had posted this in February! Adding to the list for next year. Especially Federle!
I wasn’t sure what I bought when I bought this tomato, because I never seen so many tomatoes. I grow about 25 varieties a year, and literally more cherry tomatoes then I’ve ever seen. This one plant had as many tomatoes as 5 plants of other varieties total.
I started red centiflor this year! Can’t wait to see how it does!
Same here! 😂
@@igleamingrace ive got 20 or so varieties of tomato seedlings waiting on their spot in my garden! Planning on 40+ plants!
@@ruthannecoro6198 That sounds awesome, hopefully one day I’ll be able to maintain that many tomato plants at one time, lol. Happy Growing!
San Marzano tends to get blossom end rot easier than some other varieties. Keep an eye out for that.
San Marzano great 4 sauces , pizza or spaghetti sauces
Hey thank you for the videos, getting my garden going at the moment. Love tomatoes 🍅 and definitely getting on farmish !
Love the video, and I'm going to grow the red centiflor this year (on your recommendation. But, as someone who knows a little Italian and Latin, it is NOT a thousand flowers, but rather a hundred (which is more than good anyway). Ciao.
This year I am growing Red Pride, Sweetie Cherry and a mystery small tomato that I saved seeds from.
Started my red centiflor tomatos from seed indoors about 2 weeks ago looks like its about ready to be transplanted can't wait to get it out in the garden 😁
For all the "this video is too late" commenters, Luke did a video last month on tomatoes they were starting. 👍👍
I love your sweatshirt! I need that color!!!
Ace 55 , Wisconsin 55, etc..all fantastic, for me is always a high feeder of calcium throughout the grow...
After a few snapped leeks it gets easier.. the
crown of that leek mass remains healthy for next year
Well....now you've got me all hyped up for the red centiflor, which was on my grow list for this year. Its about to go in a container.
Orange rousellini got me excited this year.
Thumbs up for gardening 👍
My husband and everyone who tried, adored the Sweet 100 Cherry tomato last year. Pretty dang productive. Idk if it's an heirloom though.
It’s a hybrid but delicious and a huge producer.
Try the sun gold and black cherry.
My most productive tomato BY FAR year after year has been blueberries tomatoes from migardener seeds. At the end of the season it’s the only tomato plants I have that are still alive and thriving because of the humidity here in kentucky.
I grow the Ace 55 every year it’s great for canning and is pretty flexible for making salsa spaghetti sauce or just eating with a little salt ❤
Hearts for Tuck 🐶❤❤❤
Well, on the more common name tomato plant, I grew 2 romas, and I was giving tomatoes away. I got so many it was crazy. They made great tomato sauce and chili.
Ace 55, Red Pear, Federle, Rose de Burne.
Plus red centiflor😊
I am growing the red centifor this year for the first time. I just put my seedlings in the garden. I put Trifecta around the top of the soil. Will I need to fertilize more to have the abundant growth?
Thank you Luke!!
Barry’s Crazy Cherry is the most productive I’ve grown yet.
Hey thanks for the great content and new leads on varieties 😊
Super sweet 100. Super prolific. I had probably 500+ tomatoes last year
I've had a garden in the SE for over 20 years and I've only heard of one of the tomato varieties that you mentioned...
That hoop house filled up fast!!
My thought exactly!
Great info!!!
Would you use Federle for salsa or can you suggest one?
Yes, paste tomatoes are great for salsa. San Marzano and Opalka are also good ones.
Barry's Crazy Cherry is insane as well! Multiple clusters per plant with 40-60 cherry tomatoes per cluster.
What’s the flavor like?
@@debtank1 sweet yellow cherry tomato.
Luke you might want to give blue beach a try. It is an heirloom long more slender paste tomato sold by Fedco in Maine
I planted 10 different varieties of tomatoes from MI Gardner seed today and none are on this list. I did plant the Wisconsin 55 and yellow pear. I only planted 48 plants, now I need to get more seed. 🍅🍅🍅
I wanna try that ace 55 , and centiflore, will be buying that seeds from u for next year planting ...
Thank you Luke for the recomenssations, this will be our first year growing our garden. Do you have all these recommended varieties of tomatoes in your store .?
I still like the Brandywine tomato. It is a heirloom variety. Has a cat face but, is delicious. 😎😎😎
The only tomato I have ever had success with is pink brandywine....took 17 bamboo steaks to prop it up... delicious fruit but not resistant to nuttin... can be difficult to stay healthy 😊
Pink Brandywine is my favorite.
Trying it this year.
The yellow Brandywine is divine. I might consider trading my kid for a basket full of them 😋😋
