For clarity he did no writing for this game. RA developed lore set pieces and the world and ideas. Which is actually good because his writing is low tier compared to his world building
I played through the original game a couple of times, so I was familiar with it. With Re-Reckoning I thought it'd be fun to create a strictly Finesse (Rogue) character named Drizzt Do'Urden, for Salvatore's legendary dark elf. The character creation tool let me create a very accurate facsimile of Drizzt, and there is dark armor in the Finesse build, and the Fae blades are a good stand-in for his scimitars. It's harder to play the game w/o spells and might abilities (and durability) but the Finesse build is super-fun and some of the attacks almost seem like magic. It's been fun watching Drizzt rampage through this world.
This game is honestly amazing. The level up system is beyond fun and I constantly found myself doing everything to level up and unlock new attacks, abilities and passive abilities. The skills are also a lot of fun to learn and upgrade
You realize how much of an undertaking and cost sink a remake would be?. This didn't need a remake, it's a great game and still modern enough. They did the right thing, remaster, new expac and I hope leads to the sequel.
I just want to say that you have done a great job of this video and I used to play it on my PlayStation 3 I never got too far into it but I do remember that I love playing the heck out of it and the funny thing is right now as I'm doing this I'm downloading the remastered version of it on the PlayStation 4 and I am so excited to get back into it I really enjoyed this video because you are the only one that I have heard actually give this game the credit that it deserves and I thank you and love you for that and I'm glad that I have subscribed to your Channel and I look forward to more of your videos thank you very much much love Keep On Rocking and stay safe
I remember being super excited for this back in the day. Bought it, and never finished it for some reason. I did really enjoy it, but life got in the way I guess. I have been in a massive western RPG mood recently, and most modern RPG's just don't really do it for me anymore for one reason or another. This remaster might be just what I need to scratch that itch.
Good stuff. This was one of my favorite games of the last generation, and I'm really glad THQN opted to remaster it. Looking forward to the Fatesworn dlc they're adding next year; should be a good look into the future of the series.
When I try a lot of remastered old games now that I used to say were the "best ever" they are not how I remember them. The fact is they just weren't as amazing as I thought they were. Over time as the videogame industry progressed several QoL and improved systems were introduced so that's why (looking at you Secret of Mana) In the case of Kingdoms of Amalur however its just still awesome in 2022. 300 hours multiple save files. Saving whever you want. The ability to respec whenever you want. Story given to you as you explore (via lorestones). The ability to sell all your no longer needed items all at once via a "junk" menu. Eventual ability to become a god via crafting. A cross between Fable and Elder Scrolls I would say. If you like character customization and rpgs you absolutely have to play this gem of a game. Other remasters I love in 2022 ... Trials of Mana Final Fantasy 10 Final Fantasy 12 Ys games
I chose this over Skyrim when it first launched and bloody glad I did. was a lot of fun, lots and lots of lore and the combat was actually fun. as pretty as skyrim was, it all felt really disjointed
@@hyperscion5749 skyrim felt like you're swimg stiff at air, magic and archery is fun but thats about it for me, most things in KoA is pretty fun, even the lock picking
Love the original love the remake neither one of these games have bugs in them they worked perfectly fine can't wait to see what they do next Was maxed out in the original almost in the remake It's one of the best games ever made
I would highly recommend people get it on PC instead of console to reduce the load times as there are a lot of load screens, each building is a load screen
The lack of maneuverability through ledges was mildly annoying and did date it a bit. I played it for the first time and even then thought it was dated I couldn't move around in an era of Assassin's Creed style games at the time
@@jamesvancam Not a problem with the game itself per se. PS4's are just prone to disc drive issues, and this game running from disc throttles the drive an insane amount, meaning more wear and tear. Mine is a pro and to fix the disc drive you have to dismantle the whole PS4 including separating the CPU from the heatsink. This makes fixing the drive a real pain in the butt at minimum, which didn't seem worthwhile when I thought I'd have a PS5 by now. I just don't get the glowing reviews for this game. I tried playing it on PS3 about a year or two ago when the pandemic hit, figured a good as time as any. And to preface, I love RPG's and JRPG's, but I sunk about 20 hours into it before I realized I hated this game and was having absolutely zero fun. I went with a stealth build as I leveled up thinking I'd play much like a "rogue class", but enemies see you no matter what the moment you step foot off the path. The quests are like 98% fetch or kill quests and I found very little variety in them. And lastly, while attempting to complete a line of quests I was more than appropriate level for, I was creamed in seconds, so I went to grind for a bit just in case for a few hours, came back and had just about as much luck as before. Needless to say I don't see what ANYONE sees in this game that makes it good. I felt like I literally had to force myself to play the 20+ hours that I did, before I just moved on to something else. I really don't get the hype for the game. With that being said, my random game generator just spit out the remaster for me to jump into on my Xbox One, so I guess I'll give it one more try, but I don't think I'm going to feel any different.
Your review was bought and paid for, that alone effects this review. You have 0 criticism on this review and this KoA has serious issues; there's a reason this game bankrupted rhode island.

@@youcantbeatk7006 my point is if it's stable on the underpowered base Xbox One then it's strange that it would run poorly on other platforms especially PC.

Yep. One of the best games ever imo. Very few games give you that incessant drive to keep levelling up
I still have my Xbox 360 copy, I never sold it. Great game!
I loved the books by R A Salvatore that I read and I now added this game to my wishlist. Thank you for the review!
