Just snapped my wheel stud and look who has a video on replacing them thanks brother I learnt a lot from you and I hope to keep learning from you down the road keep posting videos
I used a ball joint press to press each stud out. Less impact on the wheel bearing. For us salt belt folks I'd suggest buying a separate bolt to remove the rotors. You'll also probably not be able to get the rear hub off. I cut the nipple off the 2.5" studs and they will squeeze in without taking the hub off.
@@schlimegod2175 back out the 4 bolts, but don't remove them, leave enough good thread inside. Hit the bolts from their heads (punching the hub out). You may mess the bolts though. It also helps the interface soaked with pb blaster overnight. A smal pry bar also helps. There a few places around you can get them in. Last idea, a thick chisel, but be careful with damaging the knuckle.
Might just do this when I gotta change break pads. Might as well since it'll all be coming off at that time anyway. Wish they had some black ones though.
Found out that on a 2022 BRZ, you will need to remove the front hubs to slide extended wheel studs in. It isn’t hard, but clearance to remove the front hubs is tight.
It'll depend on what exactly you're doing to the hub assembly. If you're doing what I did in the video, you won't need an alignment as I didn't actually mess with any of the mounting locations that would affect the alignment.
@@KevinVo 💯 greatly appreciate it. I’m an FTSpeed repeat customer from a little U.S. Territory named Guam in the Pacific. Many of us order from here, keep up the great content and products.
@@KevinVo follow up question, I'm about to do this with my 22 brz, they have the same procedure right? No difference especially for the rear the hub can be unbolted and wiggle some room?
Finally attempted this today for the rears because my fronts have extended studs! I failed. I only got to one wheel in the rear. I could not get the hub to come out a bit like in this video. It was stuck, really stuck. I ended up putting regular studs back in. I basically wasted 5 studs and lost a few hours of my day 😵💫 From Guam, USA 🇬🇺
@@KevinVo yes, but it was difficult to get a good swing. I’ll try again in a few weeks, maybe get some kind of tool that’ll allow me to remove the hub more easily. Nonetheless, your guide is really helpful, thanks for it
I’ve never seen anyone be able to make a stock brake caliper look “good” but somehow you did. You are a true master Kevin! Great video 👍
Thanks, Rick! Doing my best!!
awesome camera angles, made it easy to see and understand everything
Thanks! Doing my best to make it as clear and easy as possible.
Stripped stud - Kevin coming in clutch with these videos of course after seeing this video i will be doing my own.

Hands down the best video I have seen on this topic. I will be doing it this summer, so thanks for the tutorial!
My pleasure! Always happy to help!

A press is certainly a good option. Luckily this car is pretty clean in terms of rust, but I could see rust being a PITA.
I never thought of that. That should make installing the rears so much easier!
how did you cut the nipple off exactly?
You just saved my life I’ve been at this FOR HOURS and this worked perfectly
Awesome tutorial....great angles and no nonsense. Thanks
Now how about you do this on our BRZ?
NAHHHHHHH 😅
You had it super easy. My rear hubs were stuck in place.
I'm glad I didn't run into that haha
Homie what did you do

That was soooooo helpful, thanks!
Glad it was helpful!

Change the disk while you are at there too
@@Carlos.Rivera I have a 2020 BRZ IDK if I need to change out the disks yet...or maybe if i do a big brake upgrade...hmmm
Eventually the colored coating would just wear off anyway, but you're right. While you've got things off you might as well!
@@KevinVo My BRZ is white and I've got a white/black/red theme going but the gold might look okay in there too for a little bit.
@@shinigami052 once you put the lug nuts on you'll barely see them. If you get the standard size you won't see them at all.
Nice wood Job
Did you use 2.5' wheel studs on the rear?
Found out that on a 2022 BRZ, you will need to remove the front hubs to slide extended wheel studs in. It isn’t hard, but clearance to remove the front hubs is tight.
Most likely due to the different front knuckle on the 22 BRZ. On the GR86 it should be the same process as the previous gen.
@@KevinVo yes. It’s the larger aluminum knuckle. Trade offs!
This might be an stupid question but does messing with the hub assembly required an alignment after?

@@KevinVo ok thank you
What lug nuts did you use to install them? I have steel lug nuts that were stripping on me
I just used some spare lug nuts I had laying around because I didn't want to damage the lug nuts I usually run.
any step different with the brembo set on the front and back of the car ?
Did you have any issues or worries not taking the rear axle nut off, like pulling the axle out?
For the amount need to pull it out I wasn't really worried about it. Just don't go yanking it out with all your might haha
Just wondering, I’m so OCD with the torque specs, was there a torque spec for the brake line bolts for the front? And the rear?
Thanks 🙏🏼
I believe it should be 24ft-lbs

Do I need an alignment when I get to take those 4 bolts on the rear?
No, since you didn't mess with the suspension.
@@KevinVo follow up question, I'm about to do this with my 22 brz, they have the same procedure right? No difference especially for the rear the hub can be unbolted and wiggle some room?
@@rollerchester1 yes, except it's different for the front on the brz because of the new hub design.

Sorry to hear you struggled with the studs. Did you try hitting the hub with a large hammer to try to loosen it?

yo kevin i forgot to disengage the e brake while changing the studs for front and rear.. will that damage anything?😐
No, just prevents you from taking the rear rotors off.
@@KevinVo thanks kev!
