I'm raising both meat and laying chickens to feed my dogs but I still feel these birds should have a good life no matter what their purpose is just like you! I subbed for this reason! Their purpose is not to be eaten by you or your dogs anymore than it is your purpose to be eaten by a man eating tiger (God forbid). You do what you want to do because you can.
I hatched 20 chickens in my incubator, after one week one developed ryeneck. I want to tractor supply and what selenium and vitamin e in a tube made for goats, I fed her two times a day a pea sized portion. The next day she showed improvements. I continued for 4 weeks, she's currently 6 1/2 weeks old seems to be completely healed, jumping flying pecking acting like the rest of the little chicks. I tagged her leg with a zip tie so I can tell her from the rest of the flock, but she seems to be just fine
You are sweet to be kind to all the chicks, regardless of their purpose. Thank you for showing us how you treat this syndrome. I’ve treated it too, and slightly diluted the contents of a vitamin E/selenium capsule with a little water. Your idea is even better. I now have a tiny hatchling Coturnix quail who was in the smallest egg in the batch. She did not hatch on her own (only pipped), and two days after all the others hatched, I helped her out. I thought her neck was crooked due to the confines of the very small egg (smaller than the others), but now I’m wondering if it’s wryneck. So I’ll treat with the vitamins just in case. We just got some ducklings and the smallest one was doing fine for the first few days but all of a sudden she had really bad wry neck, to the point where she couldn't walk and would just have to lie on the floor, she wasn't eating a ton but she was eating more than the others, I think maybe the others will have the same fate sadly.

I was so sorry for him as didn’t know how to help and he looked to be a warrior, even with this problem he will try continuily to stand on feet. So, I was looking who may had the same situation and found your video. I gave him selenium and electrolites this is what I had handy around 1 am. In the morning his neck was straight and he could stand on his feet, walk, but I didn’t see him eating yet, so I keep giving water with electolites and selenium to support. Wondering if your chick was eating after the neck was treated. Don’t want to loose him due to starvation now when he got his neck healed.
Selenium works so fast and the results are dramatic. Thanks for sharing your story. Help him eat and drink and hopefully he will be ok. You can even add honey, garlic, and apple cider vinegar to the water for an immunity boost. Best wishes!
This video would have been much better if you’d lifted the camera up off of the chick, so, we could hear your voice better. I had to turn my volume up a lot and I could still only hear the chick.

I know it's nature's way, but it's still sad. Recently one was born with scissor beak and only one eye. We had to put it down since there was no way it would survive.
I just bought a small batch of 6 Issa brown chickens that are 19 weeks old form my local hatchery and one of the hens has something similar to this but it can still eat drink and scratch. It hasn’t laid yet unlike the others but it doesn’t bother us.!
my rooster has his neck circling like when they do little head scratches but its violent and won't stop unless he leans against something it just happened and im scared its something serious i think its partly connected to his legs because when i held him int the way where his feet dangle the head moving slowed down but not stop and we are waiting till morning to see if he survives but even if he doesn't i wonna know incase it happens again what it was and how we can help our chickens if this happens again
She recovered from the wry neck shortly after giving her the selenium. However, she die a day or two later. She probably had other health issues. Sometimes chicks die for no apparent reason.

Canned tuna also has vitamin E & selenium in it.

Guys is it still wry neck when my chicken neck twisted then upsidedown after that she can't even get up for like 30-60 seconds

Do the “save a chick” electrolyte powders hat you add to the water not have selenium?
Not that I can tell. But it does have Vitamin E in it which can help with wry neck.

The medicine is a vitamin called Selenium. You can purchase it at most department stores, grocers, or health food stores.

You can try but I have no idea about the mass. It could be an infection or a tumor or a birth defect.

Selenium and Vitamin E. If you have a multivitamin, just use that. Crush it up and put in water.
