I don't understand your assessment of this performance. What exactly do you mean by western ballet excerpts interpreted in Asian manner ??? There is no such thing as overly refined classical ballet. They should be refined to the tee. Don't bring in race card to the world of dance.
@@mikiohirata9627 Having worked in the Asian department of one of the world's most important museums, I am steeped in the Japance culture from a historical perspective. It is well known as a refiner of other country's culture rather than as an originator of its own. This has been going on for centuries. It is nothing new...and is a fact well known by arts professionals. It isn't meant in a judgemental or even negative way. It just is what it is. And there is plenty of overly refined ballet out there. Occasionally a dancer like Kimin Kim (see TH-cam) is able to embrace the spirit of Western ballet, transcend his Asian perspective and become a superstar in the West. Check out his numerous videos. The Royal Ballet also has a lead Asian dancer who is likely Chinese.
