  • This is the Sunday battle from the 245th Anniversary of the Battle of Monmouth. It was originally fought on sweltering hot days staring June 28th 1778. Though reenacted annually, every 5th year anniversary draws living historians from all over and makes for a grand historic spectacle. It brings artillery, cavalry, infantry, militia, camp followers, sutlers and of course visitors by the hundreds. Enough Union Jacks to make you think you came to King Charles' coronation. It has one of the biggest cannonades of any military reenactment I have ever attended. LOTS of gun smoke. I would rate this show as a 10 Huzzah event.

Great video of the reenactment. I’ve watched it several times, and will many more times.

Great video, we really did place that Howitzer perfectly between the trees to be seen.

Thanks for capturing all of this Chris! I was disappointed that I had to miss this event, so it was such a treat to see it all here! =)

Great event, but the endless commentary really disrupts the experience. I suggest this part be extremely brief next time. Just a suggestion.

Does a reenactment have predestined chaps that are supposed to get “ shot and die” for dramatic effect ???

Sometimes, but other times you "take a hit" if your musket malfunctions or something like that. In Saturday's battle my flint broke so I decided to go down.

The amazing feat here is the endless, torturous play-by-play narration. Why not just broadcast this on Zoom and let people hear the battle sounds, if they choose. For me this totally ruins the effect the reenactors are trying to achieve. You can still educate people about the battle and be much less obnoxious and obtrusive.

I just record reenactments for my YT Channel, and have nothing to do with how the event is produced.
      Speak to the management.

We should all give thanks to those who reanact, they come with there own uniforms at great expense to remind us of all the sacrifices that were made in the creation of our great country. God bless them.

Well said. This past year I inherited white fringed hunting attire, and am able to embed myself with my fellow reenactors. I have known Mark for many years and he does yeoman's work when it come to narrating these events.
