Too bad that great movies such as this one don’t do well at the box offices. I guess people are just so used to fast paced stuff with a whole lot of fighting they don’t appreciate a meaningful story anymore.

It’s also worth noting Joe’s personal struggles are what draw a lot of attention to this film. The portrayal of a man in pursuit of finding his true meaning in life while simultaneously struggling to decide between duty and selfishness. Men often face both of these conflicts for many years resulting in the male mental health crisis seen today.

Thanks for this video! This helped me understand what was going on in the movie. I just rented it today, because the previews of it looked really good. I have not seen the original film. I recapped the story of it on TH-cam to try to get a better understanding of it, before watching the sequel. I was half way through the movie losing what the heck was going on in the story. I finished it out though, and I was a little bummed of it being a wasted rental for me. I could not follow the story well. I'm happy to find this video, and understand it better! This movie is good, and even better with a couple more re-watches of the flick in the future, now having more knowledge of it.

13:47 Don't see how Deckard could be the same model as Rachael because of Deckard's background as a BR. It is not said how long he has been "on the job" but we assume he was already a BR long before Rachael existed. Deckard had already "retired" remember he told Bryan "I was quit before I came in here. I'm twice as quit now."

For me it was confusing because i did not see the prequel - so it was my fault thinking i would catch up during the first 30 mins or so. However, this video clarifies a lot. Also, ironically, even though i did not see the 1st one i like the acting. Wish i could have seen more of ryan gossling and harrison ford in the same scenes.
Lastly, being biased to the above-mentioned actors it is heart-wrencing to know that the good actors of yesteryear are getting old and these new actors - who, like ryan gosling, are great and few and far between - have to face the wokeness of Hollywood to survive. I say that to bring home the point that although these younger actors can act they still would want to be relevant and get a pay cheque and it seems they would have to succumb to the political correctness of a message in every movie. It begs the question: Have we come to an apocolypse of cinema?

"Why wilt thou give to her a Body whose life is but a Shade?
Her joy and love, a shade: a shade of sweet repose:
But animated and vegetated, she is a devouring worm:"
"Man divided from his Emanation is a dark Spectre
His Emanation is an ever-weeping melancholy Shadow."
"Daughters of Beulah! Muses who inspire the Poet's Song!
Record the journey of immortal Milton thro' your realms
Of terror and mild moony lustre, in soft sexual delusions
Of varied beauty, to delight the wanderer and repose
His burning thirst and freezing hunger."
    "The deep of winter came,
    What time the secret child
Descended thro’ the orient gates of the eternal day."

The movie is basically a sci-fi remake of The Maltese Falcon. Every character desires something. The main focus is Anna, but others have personal goals. For example Luv wants Wallace to see that she is the perfect replicant, not Anna. Deckard is the only person, who doesn't want anything but gets what the rest are after. Yet just like the statue Anna isn't what people obsessed searching for them expect. One is fake while the other is flawed.

Love these movies, both of them are top five of all time in my opinion. I found it very interesting that the world wide release of 2049 was on October 6th...my birthday. 10/6....this was the date carved in the root of the tree. I couldn't believe the universe that I was seeing my favorite movie's sequel 30 years later, and they were releasing on my birthday in LA, in theater 19...my lucky number. Later, somebody shattered my dreams when they told me it was JUNE 10 on the tree root. I was bummed. But why would they make the world wide LA release on October 6....not June 6? Anywho. I will forever secretly believe that the first replicant was born on my birthday. Great vid.

its ironic that both movies were not fiscal successful in cinemas because (again ironic) both did not make enough to warrent a sequel
Blade Runner, which premiered June 25, 1982, was a $30 million film and made just $41 million
Blade Runner 2049 made $267.5 million worldwide against a production budget of $150 million.
the fact that movies need to make 2 - 3 x their cost is part of whats wrong with hollywood.

The gaping plot hole of how K got the memory of the horse, and ended up part of this plot, is so large that a truck can drive through it, and that means this is a terrible script and terrible movie. The director purposely created this gaping plot hole as clickbait for the scifi fans to debate over, rather than writing a correctly tight script.

There is nothing ot explain, it's a bad movie. They not even get the difference between a living being and a machine, there is one and a machine doesn't grow up. A living being does, as explained in Monod's book, "Chance and Necessity", since they make from a machine a human who grows up there is no difference anymore. They are confusing everything.

Another extremely overrated film by an extremely pretentious and exceptionally overrated director!

Strange how the visuals are nowhere near the original film, made without CGI etc, nor the soundtrack. 2049 is too long and slow.

L'idea del test per identificarli è una cagata, la differenza si poteva cogliere facilmente da un test sul genoma, se non altro che per i geni di fine vita o comunque a fattori correlati
