Goddamn Stella drums like a boss. And looks so friggin cool doing it.
She plays drums on some of Kurt Vile's videos and was going to tour with him this year (I had a ticket) but it was cancelled due to virus. Sigh.

Maybe the best rock band working in the world. Their songs are operatic, complex, often dark, and such great musicians.
Music taste is a very personal thing so some will understandably disagree about the "best rock band working in the world" statement. But having seen Warpaint perform live three different times (in 2014, 2017, and 2022), I can tell you they are a truly excellent live/festival band and, oh yeah, they're personally my favorite rock band working in the world of the last decade!

I love that they are four frontwomen. Anyone of them can lead the band and the crowd at any time.
I have seen that, too. Any one of them could split off and start, and lead, their own band (not that I want them to).
Undertow is one of those songs that makes me submit to the universe. Sooo beautiful

I've been into punk rock my entire life and still am, but I gotta be honest, whenever I have to walk somewhere the soundtrack on my headphones have been warpaint live for the past 4 months. They are great.
Warpaint remind me of Joy Division at times and I can't think of much higher praise than that.

I was there! Never heard of them prior to the show, I was waiting for the next act, I thought it was going to be a heavy metal band with a name like warpaint, but then these chicks walk out and start jamming! I became an instant fan , I played their music on the way back home

At this point in time Warpaint reminded me very much of a mid 2000s Canadian band called The Organ. They released one LP called Grab That Gun. Check them out if you like Warpaint circa 2017.

I fell in love with these beautiful femmes the first time I heard them and was totally stoked when I first got to see them live! They connect with their audience on such a primal level that it enables the listener to be inside the performance. Stella is most certainly one of the best drummers in the history of modern music; her performance is so intuitive that it brings the listeners soul inside of it. Personally I am hopelessly in love with Miss Emily Kokal and hope I get to interact with her someday in some way.

Can't remember Bananarama playing instruments to Warpaint standards either ....but if you are talking about the way the Bananas clicked when singing in harmony then I totally agree .
Definiria su musica como SEDUCTORA e HIPNOTIZANTE. porque una vez que empiezas con ellas no puedes pausarlas. Tienen unas BASES RITMICAS de 10. Empiezas una cancion y te va llevando y no sabes a donde va pero te obliga a dejarte llevar. Eso y las armonias vocales. La voz de emily tan desganada y sensual a la vez y la de teresa tan dulce y malevola a la vez. Juntas harmonizando son como unas voces de sirena que te hipnotizan.
Warpaint son para mi la definicion de bailar con musica rock/alternativo.
Las conoci por un conconcierto en vivo aqui por YT. No recuerdo cual estaba vuendo y termino y se repeodujo al instante el del primavera sound en España, llamemoslo destino❤. Escuche los primeros acordes de keepn it healthy y wooow me atraparon. De ahi me fue a revisitar sus clasicos y me di cuenta que hace aaaaaños de chavita en MTV hits yo ya las habia escuchado con elephants! Y me gustaba esa cancion pero en aquellos años estaba clavadisima con tokio hotel por lo que no las segui.
Escucho mas sus en vivos que sus discos grabados, tengo ciertos artistas que los prefiero en vivo porque son grandes musicos o tienen una gran banda con ellos y las warpaint son grandes musicos!
Muchos las llaman infravaloradas lo cual no estoy de acuerdo, porque dentro de su nicho musical me parecen consolidadas y aclamadas. Eso si, las considero poco conocidas para el publico general. No son una banda masiva en cuention de mercadotecnia. A menos que escuches este tipo de bandas o escena musical probablemente no las ubiques. Pero personalmente prefiero que se queden asi; son como un tesoro oculto que "pocos" conocen😊.

Is it just me or does she seem the least comfortable with being in the limelight? In most of the performances, she seems to almost be trying to hide behind the guitar, keyboard or the microphone. It's not a criticism at all, but an observation that I thought some of you might also agree with.
