the delicacy, the smoothness, the tone and how you never get carried away with overly bluesy riffs but instead sneak in alot of folklore tone make the two of you stand out as a uniquely classy duo
I would like you fellows more if you make this look harder. You know, make faces, sweat, drop a pick now and again----Something to appear more human!! Great stuff as usual. Love it! Haven't heard this tune in years.
Hello! Je ne me lasse pas de vous écouter et de vous regarder! !Vous êtes deux guitaristes de grand talent, c'est un réel plaisir pour moi! MERCI POUR LE SHOW!
Wow! excellent, I have never heard this done as an instrumental before, being familiar with Riley Pucket's and Jerry Reed's versions and the version by Benny Martin renamed "Lover of this Town". I'd like to see more of Yiannis and Kostas.
it is such a great pleasure to listen to you guys play. you bring so much joy and happiness with your music. Thank you both if I can play half as good I will be happy. LOL!!
Superb picking guys! How two Dudes from Greece adopted American Bluegrass/Roots tunes and play those so well together amazes me. So keep on pickin'!!.....(:-)
Erich Ryll funny you say that. My mom was German and dad Greek. My mom's family played bluegrass music( total hillbillies) and i always loved it! And i always loved Greek music. I found a similarity with some bluegrass and Greek folk songs. My favorite song is Jack White's version of Wayfaring Stranger and the way the guitar is played kind of reminds me a little Greek music. Its the best of both worlds for me.
greekflatpicker thank you so much for this! My mom was German and dad Greek. I grew up in a small town called Tarpon Springs in Florida with a large Greek community. I was blessed to be exposed to my mom's family who had a Bluegrass band and attend Greek festivals and weddings with Greek music. So both sounds are nostalgic for me. I miss my parents and so this was really nice to hear. Thank you P.s. if you haven't yet you should come to Tarpon. Im sure you would be well received here because the joke is most of the Greeks here are kind of country.
I need to move to Greece. Lol. Greetings from Ohio, USA. Yiannis, you & Kostas are the greatest! I've recently been struggling with trigger finger in my index finger of my pickn hand. You have re-inspired me. Thanks for all of these amazing videos!
Hey, you guys have done this before!! Seriously, you're great. Isn't it great to sit and watch "almost in your living room" live music from all the way across the world? Keep it up and I'll keep checking in.
I've been watching your videos and really enjoying your musicianship! I've commented before about your technique. The fellow on the right, has such a smooth relaxed right hand. The upstroke and down strokes are poetry in motion!!
Wow! I'd love to hear your two play this in person, I really would! (I got to hear Doc and Merle Watson together, many long years ago, but not yet you fellas...)

Yiannis, Welcome back. Keep icing that thumb and doing whatever the doctor tells you. I like to immerse in ice-water... As usual, excellent picking by both of you! It seems it's been so long you forgot where your chair is though? We usually see you sitting on the right. =)' I bet if you two did a Kickstarter CD after you heal, you would be funded in NO TIME. I'd be in. Super Fan too of sweet Bourgeois!

I'll be making more songs/tunes for my friends and fans.Happy pickings, Y.
It's outrageous how good you two are. I love all traditional music, and as a singer/guitarist myself I've explored various genres, and many folk songs from around the world are a part of my repertoire. I wonder whether you play and sing traditional songs of Greece, and the music of Mikis Theodorakis which always moves me to tears.
helen em thanks for the kind words! We do play and like traditional stuff. Theodorakis is the best, really. Please check out my other videos if you like ,i play some old time Rembetika music along with another good friend.
helen em, I have electronic files of the soundtrack to Zorba the Greek and could send them to you if you are interested. My father bought the album back in the 60's and I listened to it growing up. That music traverses from joy to sorrow and everything in between.
@@christopheryellman533 Oh Christopher, that's so kind. I have the wonderful recording of the soundtrack, and like you, I've listened to it throughout the decades since I saw the film at the cinema when it was released. The funny thing is that when I saw the film again several years later I was surprised and shocked to discover that it was filmed in black and white. So vivid was the experience that I remembered it in colour. Thanks again, Christopher.

+believer936 thanks for commenting. No,I'm just a guitar lover and someone who collects them. Also,I'm showcasing guitars that belong to friends of mine.
+iloverumi ,thank you my friend. To answer to your question, yes,we are the best, because we are the only existing ones here in Greece, lol After having played this genre on the acoustic guitar the last 20 years or so,I have never found anyone who had any interest to it. Thank God my buddy Kostas came into my musical life the last 10 years. And he is really the best!
Hi there. Thanks for asking. My thump was too bad back then,I remember i had too much pain when we did this video with my picking buddy,Kostas. I gave up playing for a couple of weeks, and I came back very very slowly. Let the time be the healer.
What I don't like about these two perfect guitar players is the following : They never have eye contact at one another. I think it is bad attitude from one of those, I am not going to speculate which one is it.
Rob Sten first off, thanks for taking the time to watch and comments on our videos. Secondly,it’s not about bad attitude,it’s because we are in the studio recording AND having a camera at the same time. If you have been in the studio before doing the same thing ,you’ll understand what I’m trying to say. It’s not easy, believe me. If you scroll down and up,you’ll find enough ‘informal ‘videos where we play in our living room being perfectly loose ;-)
greekflatpicker, greetings from LA! I happened across your Tennessee Waltz video and it blew my mind - you guys are incredible. I've pretty much spent an hour going through all of your videos :) I just picked up a '57 D21 and have to ask what type of strings you're using on the '51? It sounds wonderful. Thanks!
+Memphis Mourning thanks very much for your kind words! Congrats on your D-21 too. In general i prefer nickel or 80/20 strings, but the '51 had some new Elixir Ph.Bronze medium strings on it.They were new and you can hear them.My buddy had nickels on the Bourgeois.
+greekflatpicker Wow, I've never even considered elixirs (you always hear the traditionalists over at UMGF making fun of them). But I love the tone of your D28 (and your playing, of course). I will be trying those out now :)
I know..I don't like them very much too,BUT they seem to be lasting forever and they are very consistent too. You know,I believe that a good sound has to do more with the right picking hand and the size of the pick than with the strings itself.
+greekflatpicker okay, now I have to ask your pick of choice? Haha. You're a much better player than I but I really appreciate your personal recommendations. I bought a few tortex and golden gate picks but they sounded more muted to me than the junky free picks the music stores give out...
My favorite picks are genuine tortoise,1mm thick, always triangular style.Think of what Tony Rice uses. But my other favorite picks are the Wegens,I prefer their mandolin pick(so my picking buddy does),a triangular one that has rounded corners for a mellower tone.
the delicacy, the smoothness, the tone and how you never get carried away with overly bluesy riffs but instead sneak in alot of folklore tone make the two of you stand out as a uniquely classy duo
