Hi Brenda. That was my Grandma Nanny. She made what she called "Butterbean Pie" which was chicken and dumplings cooked with a handful or two of fresh butter beans in the chicken broth. I think my Nanny cooked the chicken and butter beans together and then rolled her dumplings and added them. Brenda a pray the Lord gives you a wonderful 2025 with more blessings than you can hold. Love you my friend.
Here ya go. 4 c. speckled butter beans 2 tsp. sugar 1 tsp. salt 1/4 c. vegetable oil DUMPLINGS: 2 c. all-purpose flour 1/4 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. baking powder Milk Shell, wash and place beans into boiler and cover with water. Season and cook until tender. You will need plenty of broth. Make a stiff dough by adding sweet milk to the flour, baking powder and salt. Roll out thin and cut in 1 1/2 inch squares and drop in boiling broth. Simmer about 15 minutes. Do not stir.
E6000 put it on both sides with maybe a toothpick. Stick together and leave for at least 24 hrs before touching. I love butter beans. You can put dumplings in any of them as long as you have enough juice to cook the dumplings and not be dried out. I love the lima bean soup, eat them in a bowl with a spoon lol.
Happy Sunday Brenda from Central Alabama! The small clean town of Rockford. When I watch you I think of my mother. She was the best mother to her ten children. God bless you!
You have some really pretty dishes Brenda. I hope y'all enjoyed your meal. Sure did look tasty. You have such a pretty view out your kitchen window. My favorite is thingamajig.....lol. Love ya! 🥰

New Year Blessings to you and your family! So happy to see your videos back on TH-cam. It's been awhile and I have missed seeing you. Welcome Back!!!!!😊🎉😊
Hey Brenda, love your video today. I just wanted to say that what you cooked looked so delicious and I'm sure it was. You cook so much like my Mother did, and she was a wonderful cook though she never thought so. I just love all your aprons you wear, they are just beautiful. There is one that is my favorite. I forgot what the fabric looked like but the style was what I loved. You could put your arms through it and that was all, it didn't have ties. I am trying to find a pattern like it and make me one. You also have a mixing bowl that is my favorite. It's the big one that has a big beautiful sunflower on it and the measurements are inside. It has a handle and a spout for pouring. I just love that bowl, its so beautiful! Hope you have a great day, dear sweet lady, can't wait for your next video!❤❤
Love watching your videos so does my husband. You cook like my precious mama did she was a wonderful cook , my sisters and l cook like our mama too, but will never be as good as hers we miss her so much. You are an inspiration to us Love You from Tennessee.😊
Your food looks great. I never thought of cooking pork chops that way. I will be making some. I really enjoy all of your videos. You are a wonderful person. Thank you for sharing your days with us.
Got all your cook books now got them as a Christmas presents and your son-in-laws 2 books…I have my winter reading for sure. Love watching you all these years…may God bless all your family.
I have a Romanian pottery bowl that dropped and broke into 10 to12 pieces. I used E6000 to fix it. I don't use the bowl for food anymore, but it still looks good on display.
My husband gave me the last two of your books for Christmas I so was so happy to get them. I wish there was another printing of the first one I would so get one.
Beautiful blue and white dishes(willow)? Love them. Never knew the name of them. The others are beautiful too. Food looks great. Love you Brenda 💖. I'm so happy your on my TH-cam. Blessings sweet lady!
Watching from Indiana, it’s 50° here quite unusual for us up here windy and rain. Lots of rain we needed some rain but so we’re doing it a bit. Hope you had a good Christmas.
I was born and raised just a couple counties below Covington and many of your childhood memories resonate with me. I love your cooking videos and you are a natural in presentation. I notice you still use a lot of cast iron, which are wonderful cooking tools, but I’m finding them becoming too heavy to handle. God Bless you Brenda.
My mother would make fresh spring green peas and drop dumplings in them to cook. It was an eastern North Carolina delicacy. (Chicken and dumplings were called "Chicken and pastry" and were rolled out and cut. Very light and flaky.) Tomato gravy had NO flour. Just fat back grease and fresh tomatoes, salt and pepper. The go to flour in North Carolina was "Dainty Biscuit" before the company was bought out. It is said that no company since has made their flour like Dainty Biscuit. My grandmother's biscuits melted in your mouth. It's interesting how the different pockets of the south had different specialties.
Oh my goodness it's been awhile since I've last seen any of your videos here and it's so very nice to see you here and them pork chops cut up and seasoned and fried up like looks so good and that there fresh fruit salad too 😊.
E6000. Use a little bit of hot glue on the rim of the glass top with a tooth pick, then put the E6000. The hot glue will hold better for the E6000 to set. Love your dishes!
A Southern memory popped into my elderly brain as I read the title of your video…..Sunday Dinner. Typically in the South we have “ breakfast, lunch, and dinner/supper “. i.e., “ Dinner “ is the big meal of the day. So, 6 days of the week, it is “ breakfast, lunch, and dinner “. However, on Sunday it becomes “ Breakfast, DINNER, and supper “. In TODAY’S WORLD a person using the word DINNER, when inviting someone over for a meal……had BETTER be very specific about the TIME to arrive, because folks just don’t use the same terminology that we old-timers use.❤️
That's such a charming Southern tradition! The distinction between "dinner" and "supper" is so interesting and speaks to the rich cultural heritage of meal times in the South. It's true that language and terminology can vary greatly, and being specific about the time can certainly avoid any mix-ups. The tradition of having a big "Dinner" on Sundays, making it a special meal of the week, sounds so lovely and full of warmth and family togetherness. Those shared meals and memories are so precious. Thank you for sharing this wonderful memory and insight. If there are more stories or traditions you'd like to share, I'm all ears. 🌟💖😊 Wishing you many more delightful Sunday Dinners and cherished moments! 💖🍽😊

Went to Cheddars for lunch with my daughter. I had onion smothered grilled porkchops!!! Yum!! My Amaryllis is growing too!!! That wax ball is amazing to me😁
Your lunch at Cheddar's sounds absolutely delicious! Onion-smothered grilled pork chops are a fantastic choice-so flavorful and satisfying. It's wonderful that you got to enjoy a meal with your daughter. I'm glad to hear your amaryllis is growing well. They are such beautiful plants, and it's amazing how they can thrive in those wax balls. Watching them grow and bloom is always a delight. Thank you for sharing these lovely moments. Ceramic repair, I used a a ceramic cement. It is a clear cement…I tried Krazy Glue before, it didn’t hold if you put it in the dishwasher… but the cement does 😊….just a thought 🥰
