    It's 1508 and the Mamluks, with Venetian aid, enter the Indian Ocean with an armada. Lourenço de Almeida - the son of the viceroy - comes under their attack in the harbor of the city of Chaul. His need for redemption, however, clouds his tactical judgement.

    At Night time Almeida walks calm and collected on to the Portugues Flagship, his hands stacked behind his back.
    He passes through a Chaotic crew scatered running back and forth like worker Ants, carrying Barrels and Crates from A to B.
    Almeida yells out: "ready the Ships", "prepare the Cannons" as he slowly made his way to the ships Fordeck.
    Anybody that would dare to look into his gazing Eyes would understand, that this Man is Dead Inside.
    At the Fordeck Almeida looks out, into the Waters of the Indien Ocean, into this Dark Void that just a few Days ago swalloed his Son, his Lagecy Alive.
    With a growling voice he orders, to himself :
    "Next Stop Diu".

    Many people look at the atrocities committed by their ancestors and feel ashamed of their history. I personally think that context is important, and historic context usually lacks in these arguments. We can't judge the actions of our ancestors with the morals of our present. Doing so will only celebrate the defeated while condemning the victors, which ignores the fact that if the defeated had been victorious they would be the ones commiting these attrocities and the only reason they didn't was because they couldn't. You don't have to be proud of these immoral actions, but you should be proud of your ancestors success, without it you wouldn't be here.

    • @shamsishraq6831
      @shamsishraq6831 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You're right, but the problem is selective judgment. It's perfectly fine judging your ancestors by context, but then to see the enemy as barbarians betrays what it really is. Not a nuanced view of the world, but a warped history where my ancestors wrongs are better than that of the enemy.
      Many Spaniards and Portuguese are major culprits of this, because they have a... colorful history, while always portraying Moors as exceptionally cruel and barbarous. This is sort of unparalleled in Western Europe.

    • @crayonsukrou913

      People are free to be proud, or ashamed, or even apathetic toward their ancestors and history. Just don't let others to dictate how you should feel about your ancestors and the history of your nation.
      Altho, TBH, this self-loathing phenomena exist mostly in Anglosphere countries (US, UK, Canada, Australia, NZ), plus Germany, and also Japan for lesser extent (due to being forced on them by the Anglos). On the other hand, vast majority of people in Arab countries, Mongolia, Iran, India, China, Russia, France, Spain, Portugal, Turkey, etc are proud of their illustrious history.

      @@FlashPointHx About the Carlist Wars, for the spaniards were very important wars because it was the origins of the regionalism and nationalisms they suffer nowadays. Moreover, in that wars participate many good spanish generals like Zumalacaguerri or Espartero, and foreign generals from France and Austria.
      Pedro II of Brazil was a very chad king and he participated in many wars, being the most famous the Triple Alliance War against Paraguay.
      For the spanish and portuguese communities, that videos will be a hit and instant classics for the channel 😊
