You are a very talented artist with such a beautiful spirit, willing to take us along on your journey. Watching you create is magical! Thank you from the bottom of my heart, and please keep sharing your creations!
As always, your work is outstanding. You stage it so well and make it easy for me to attempt. For me it is more about learning techniques rather than duplicating your make. I just love the stars on the base tag. So much you can do with that. Thank you!
Thank you so much for that wonderful feedback... I'm delighted you are finding so much inspiration here, and especially that you are taking the ideas and applying them to your own work. (There is a video on making those starry backgrounds too... not sure whether you meant that you'd seen that one? The link should be in the description below the video, if not.)
Lovely, as expected, Alison. The colors capture beautifully, the moodiness of the wintry outdoors. Excellent idea for some holiday cards. Thanks, Alison.
It was a treat to watch you create the mixed media backgrounds but it was a pure delight to watch you create these tags! Adding the words near the end really brings out the stars in the background! Lovely from beginning to end. TFS
That's so kind - thank you! I started out with these sessions at around 15 - 20 minutes. And now they're usually nearly an hour, so it's just as well you like them!!
I'm a bit late in coming to your video today. But oh what joy, these are so gorgeous. I really love how you put layers of leaves and twigs etc, a lovely touch. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Happy crafting, xx❤❤😊😊
I love using Nature's offerings in my crafting... she's the best artist of all, so they always bring so much to the party! Thank you so much for your lovely comment, and have a great Sunday.
Happy you found your way here! So pleased you love these tags, and I hope you'll enjoy exploring further on the channel. Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
Oh, that's great to hear - to me, there's something so exciting about dimensionality and the movement it can add to a piece of art. Thank you so much for watching and for your lovely comment.
Very happy you enjoyed the next steps for some of those tags. Now to work out what the others would like to do!! Thank you so much for watching and commenting.
Such effective collage/assemblages and perfect for the winter/festive season. I think some of your seed head stamps would also work beautifully with these backgrounds. I really enjoyed following the process and watching these come to life. Thank you.
Thank you so much for that lovely, thoughtful comment. Yes, I have my eye on a couple of the other backgrounds as possible places to use the seedhead stamps. We'll see what happens next!
When I see your tags I just want to go in the woods and pick pine cones and small branches and smell the fresh balsamic air. It's absolutely gorgeous 😍👏
I'm very happy that they give you such a strong sense of the natural world... I hope you've got some woods nearby that you can go and do just that in! Thank you so much for watching and for your delightful comment, which has put a big smile on my face.
I can HIGHLY recommend using wood glue. You can often get a "no name" brand from a builders merchant (or whatever it's called). I buy mine in big bottles of 750ml for £6,50/$7 and it glues paper, wood (obvs!), fabric, glitter, gems etc. really well. I never use anything else now. I LOVE LOVE LOVE your videos Alison.... beautiful colours - I have just ordered a whole bunch more of the Oxide inkpads - can't wait to play with new colours. Have a lovely weekend all xx
Yes, the Cosmic Shimmer (with the fine applicator) is basically a form of wood glue - it glues everything - a good strong acrylic glue. We do have big bottles of wood glue that we've always used when making things for my mother's dollshouse collection, and I have to say I find the Cosmic Shimmer more effective than her generic wood glue - but if you've found one that works for you, that's brilliant. So happy that you are loving the videos - hope you'll have a lovely time with your new rainbow of Oxides! Happy weekend to you too.
Very happy you're enjoying the creative journey... as you saw, the stamping platform is great, but I'm always forgetting to use it! Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
Oh Alison, your tags are absolutely gorgeous! I love all the dimension and the lightness of the words. The pine cones here are too big but I have some seed heads from my Crete Myrtle tree that might work. I have already inked my paper and die cut lots of greenery so I just need to make the tags and hopefully create something close to yours. But first I am meeting my daughter at a beach about an hour from here to look for shark's teeth. I am probably going to be cold because anything under 75F I am and the forecast is for the low 40'sF But with my daughter, that's what matters. Have an awesome day! Sorry for the blathering.
Hope you've been having a lovely (and not too chilly) beachcombing walk with your daughter... The weather has been icy but glorious here today - hope you've got some similar blue skies for it. I'm sure any seedheads you can find will make lovely embellishments amongst your diecut greenery - have fun bringing it all together, and happy weekend to you.
Hello Alison! Wintry mix FUN which is appropriate for me today as we are currently in the middle of a lake effect storm (New York State USA near Lake Erie which is still warm). I’ve already gotten probably 24” to 30” of snow since yesterday morning! I managed to get my plow truck stuck pretty much at the beginning so had to call for professional help to get me unstuck and then to plow while they’re here. UGH… WINTER… LOL I’m glad you used your mistletoe stamp to mix in with the other winter greens. I don’t have that one yet. I’ve been gradually accumulating your stamp designs - I have 17 of the 22 stamp sets with words and pictures and only 2 so far of the quote stamp sets. The two TH watercolor stamp sets also came this week so… I have Lots of options! I’ve actually been feeling pretty good this week so have been busier than usual and not spending half the day in bed to catch up on my rest after the working days. Some of our family were able to get together for our Thanksgiving which was wonderful. Today is a good day… I am hoping to play this evening / tomorrow. Take Care and enjoy the rest of your weekend. 🙂 PS… I loved the Books, Books, Books this week but haven’t commented yet so hope to do that this weekend as well…
Oh my goodness, that's quite the EAB collection you are building there - heartwarming to know, thank you so much! I know you'll have a lovely time with those TH stamps too... they're beauties. Wow - that's a LOT of snow in a very short time. I'm not surprised you got stuck and had to call for help. That doesn't seem unreasonable in the circumstances. I can see snow on the nearby mountains, but there's none here in the village yet, though a very hard frost this morning. Lovely that you got some family time over the Thanksgiving holiday - and I hope you're continuing to enjoy a restful and creative weekend.
19:00 I LOVE the cutting tip! What a great idea. I have a lot of problems with my cutting style but you’ve helped me to see my way out of the corners I find myself in. I also like the way you use the old cardboard to place a backing on your tags? I’ve started to do this, as well. Many thanks. ❤🇦🇺
Very happy you found that helpful... it's one I learned back in primary (elementary) school, I think!! And yes, the cardboard gives such a nice heft to the finished tags, I think - pleased that you've adopted the idea too. Thanks so much for watching and for your always lovely comments.
How beautiful!! You have perfectly captured the "crispness in the air" feel of a clear winter's night. I'm always amazed at how a simple element (such as the white twine) can just complete a piece. Do you do anything to the back of the tag or just leave the cardboard showing? The backs of my pieces always seem to have unsightly fingerprints, ink spots, or whatever stuff was on the craft mat - it is not visually appealing. Thanks for turning on the camera. I really enjoy watching you create.
Oh, that makes me so happy that you can feel the frosty night air! And yes - the finishing touches often make a surprisingly big difference. Mostly, I don't do anything to the backs of the tags. I do occasionally stick a piece of plain white card or cheap design paper over the back, if I want something to look a bit more "finished", but personally I like the look of the plain cardboard. And given I usually stick them onto card after I've finished making (this was an exception, because I knew I wanted a solid base for the cinnamon and so on), it's generally pretty untouched on the reverse. So happy that you are enjoying the videos. Thank you for your company on this creative journey, and for your lovely, thoughtful comment.
Happy you like them, thank you. As far as "doing" anything with them... I'm not sure what you "do" with any piece of art. For me, the making is the doing. The state of flow I find in creativity, the learning that happens with each creation, the playfulness of exploration, the combining of colours and textures - those are the value for me. Many of my tags live in crates in my studio, for flicking through for inspiration or for pleasure (you can see what I mean in these Shorts - th-cam.com/video/EwkvmSSKvb4/w-d-xo.html ). Others come out for seasonal displays during the year. Sometimes I'll create a little tag book, or use a tag (either a background or a finished tag) as the basis for a journal page (you can see that kind of thing here th-cam.com/video/TYqLY1mSDsI/w-d-xo.html Occasionally I'll give one as a gift, or as a tag on a gift as an extra gift. But mostly, as I say, it's about the process, and the delight that brings me. I hope that answers your question.
Thank you very much - happy you like them. I use the Liquitex heavy gel only when I am gluing 3d or heavier things. If I'm gluing paper to paper or to card, then I would use my Cosmic Shimmer, probably, which is just a basic white acrylic liquid glue. A good wood glue is useful to have around. I quite like the Tim Holtz Collage Medium for paper or decoupage-type gluing. Glossy Accents by Ranger is great for gluing small metal or plastic embellishments to card. There are literally hundreds of glues out there, and I haven't tried them all... so others may have other preferences. But basically glue is glue is glue is glue. You just need to find one that works for you. Hope that's of some help.
@w0rdsandp1ctures There's is a reason for so much glue. I have only for my paper projects 3 types of glue 🤣 Tonic Studios have very good glues and the best glitter paper I had yet. And because of Black Friday I just ordered TH glue to try on. You're my inspiration to do more mix-media 👍
I've never got on with glue guns. I find that after a year or so the glue somehow dries out, and whatever you've glued with it falls off. The thick glue I'm using here usually works perfectly... it's because I'm still fiddling around with things rather than leaving them alone for a bit that it's causing difficulties. But thank you for the thought! So happy you like the tags.
@@w0rdsandp1ctures I understand, you have a point there. John Next Door, a British crafter, uses a special gelglue of his own brand, that does not dry out, it is amazing stuf.
