There’s always people who will complain about something. It’s a shame that people act the way they do, and over something as silly as a bag. I’m sure the customers make you want to just scream man! I’m sure it’s hard to be away from family on holidays. At least you were home for Christmas morning man! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Chris! 🎄🎉
There are times I’m just thinking “ do these people hear themselves and see how they are acting?” Haha it’s blows my mind but happens too often! Being away from family isn’t the best but I’ve had the chance to see the family a good amount past holidays ! Happy new year and merry Christmas 🎄
I just finish working a EWR to Fll, I Had a customer coming on with a guitar and his carry on. 🤔🤔🤔. I was like sir we might have to check your carry on, cause we have a full flight today and your guitar is gonna take most of the space in the over head compartment, customer was like i am not checking anything 😳😳😳 jajajajaja. I just had to smile, It was 6am, too early to get annoyed. At the end i was able to accomodate both his guitar and his carry on in the over head bin, had to move some bags around. But yeah you re so right, boarding is the most stressfull part of the flight. You did great thou, handling the situation. Big hug Merry Christmas and Happy New year.🙂
Thanks for sharing the story I see that happen all the time as well haha I Sialkot try and stop boarding process around group C and walk through to see how space is looking! But thank you and merry Christmas and happy new year as well!
I think passengers that are unnecessarily difficult enjoy challenging and being rude to crew. It sounds like you handled it well Chris. I hope you had a great Christmas 🎄
I couldn’t agree more! Sometimes it’s a power struggle they have with either at home or their work environment and they seize any opportunity they can to feel power Great Christmas indeed I hope you had the same and a happy new year 🎊!
Something about FLL! I had a customer sleeping on the floor in the exit row twice. Then someone who pressed the call button in the lav then got angry when I knocked to see if he was okay 😂
I’m surprised the gate agent didn’t catch that. But do you have to help with the bags ? I heard some airlines most FA’s don’t help with the bags for injury reasons.
It happens sometimes and we aren’t required to lift bags but it says in our policy we can assist because we aren’t covered for injury if we were to get hurt lifting other people bags unfortunately
I am with you, Chris! I work the counter ticket and every time have to keep an eye for bags that needs to be checked in. Sometime PAX hide their bags through out at the gate. At my airlines gate agent are required to walk around and check on PAX bags. I hate it when they don't understand but they just want to rude at us. Hope you're 2020 will be the awesome one bro :-)
We appreciate that I’ve seen gate agents start checking after group C which helps so much especially when it’s full! And yes Pax can get a little sneaky and hide their things for sure ! Hope you have a great 2020 as well man 👊🏽
Haha Karen and Becky make me laugh and 100% but last time 😅 usually I finish that with unfortunately we have a policy that we need to be Consistent with 🙋🏻♂️
Your first mistake was not letting the gate agent deal with the oversized bag. It’s their job to monitor it. And they’re not allowed to close the boarding door until the lead FA gives the ok. That’s how you can avoid that type of drama lol.
I thought about becoming a flight attendant for the last few years as I was retiring, after 30 years, this year from being a Director of IT for medical research departments at the State University where I live. I thought perhaps that the 30 years of "customer service " aspect dealing with Professors, scientists and Medical Doctors in my previous career would have prepared me for "customer service" aspects of your career. Then I was on a flight early morning from RDU to ATL in December 2018 (Airbus 321). It was cold that morning. Freezing rain during the night before. Well, it just happened that all 5 deicing trucks were non operational. So until they were fixed we would be sitting one the ground to wait. I was fine with it because I am an avid aviation fan and understand the importance of deicing. OMG the business travelers were furious with the delay. Demanding updates from the cabin crew. One stood up in the esle and berated the lead. The lead was calm, but the passenger was getting heated and others were getting just as bad. After an hour. The pilot had enough. The gate was pulled back to the plane and said over the intercom that anyone who wanted to leave could and could work with the gate agent about accommodations. About 16 got up complaining and got their bags and left. Including the woman who sat next to me. She was so red in the face about missing her meeting in Atlanta and complaining about how she was so inconvenienced. I guess the look I gave her told her something. She made the mistake of asking why I didn't share her anger at the airline. I said, I cannot control the weather and neither can you, and unlike her I was not an entitled basterd who thinks the world revolves around me. And before she could say anything else to me, I told her, And let me tell you what I tell my daughter when she has a tantrum, maintain low tones with me. She shut up , got up and walked off the plane. The lead came up to me and thanked me. I apologize to the lead about the behavior of the other passengers. I was treated like gold on that flight. The thing is 5 minutes after they walked off, the pilots were notified that one of the deicing trucks was fixed and we were cleared to go. And because these people who got off didn't check in any bags we could leave immediately. The crew closed L1 as fast as they could. The jetway was pushed back. We decided and on our way without those crazy people on the plane. That taught me one lesson. You have one TOUGH career. And after 30 years of dealing with individuals just like those passengers, I decided that I would not be a good candidate for flight crew. I want to thank every pilot and flight crews. You are there for my safety first and foremost. And I for one appreciate you all.
I appreciate you taking time to write this up and share your story. It sounds like the flight attendants and yourself handled it well unfortunately we deal with people like this risky that blame the closest person they can when in reality it’s just weather and that’s the majority of our delays anyways (weather related)
@@ChristopherKellum Hi Chris. As I've written before, I applied to JB and they sent me a link to do the VI. I waited a week for my passport to arrive. Finally this morning I get all ready to do the video and then I cant find the email to the link! I've tried contacting JB and they have no recruiter phone number.. I'm so upset by this. I guess I blew it... I called 2 computer repair shops to find out what happened to my emails. They said "Someone would've HAD TO gone in and physically deleted them. They said emails dont just "disappear" looked in trash, spam... GONE. ... So, my husband and I are the only people here. .. "Things that make ya go hmmmmmm"
Yup! Sounds like my daily experiences but with different kinds of 'customers'-parents and students! Hope you had a good Christmas :)
I can only imagine ! Great Christmas indeed hope you’re enjoying sunny Australia!

I deal with 'interesting' ppl working in retail!! When i think i havent heard or seen it all, something happens, and i just shake my head
Retail and customer service in general
Is rough sometimes haha but it can be rewarding as well!
Something about FLL! I had a customer sleeping on the floor in the exit row twice. Then someone who pressed the call button in the lav then got angry when I knocked to see if he was okay 😂
Gross! Haha who would dare to sleep on the floors! I’ve seen parents lay there babies on the floor 🤢! Don’t be pressing random buttons 😂
Happy new year Chris, don’t work too hard!

“It fit on my last flight” is the single most annoying thing that any passenger can say.
Haha they do it anyway 🤷🏻♂️
Haha for retail it's Karen saying "they did it for me last time!" Well you know what, this time I'm here and I'm not doing it.
Haha Karen and Becky make me laugh and 100% but last time 😅 usually I finish that with unfortunately we have a policy that we need to be Consistent with 🙋🏻♂️
Have you ever heard: "I'm a share holder"!!! from a customer? It drove me mad!!!
Not yet but I'm sure its coming at some point haha
