    If this were $100, I think it would be a great buy. However, $300 for a device locked on an older version of Android defeats the purpose of being able to play Android games with physical controls. Especially since most of those games still play as touch screen only. Cool device but just too inconsistent with its promises.

      Yeah it would be worth 100-150 bucks to have all that retro gaming on tap in HD. I agree $300 is to much for how limited it is. But I would give a $100 bucks for it.

    • @mattmurray07

      Lesser copy? The K1 is just an older SOC at this point. The X1 came after.

    A couple years ago, I bought a JXD S7300 for about 150 dollars. And it did everything like this, exactly the same. It could play Ps1 games and N64 games almost seamlessly, and even play DS games, too. It came with built in controls, though it was clearly more based on the Wii U design, but with 3ds joysticks/joydisks. But the thing is, it's cheap hardware and cheap software. Like, dirt cheap. in about 2 months, the device slowed to an agonizing crawl, and the battery life shrank down to about two hours. It also had overheating issues if ou used it too long. Out of the box it couldn't play a lot of games on the app store, and even simple games had low framerates. It also came with a broken micro-usb port, and a messed up charge port.
    I don't advise getting anything with JXD on it. A phone combined with a bluetooth controller does everything it can already, and you probably already have a phone.

      Mine worked fine as long as I had it, but it overheated on the charger one night and got fried. Shame, because I feel like it was the best out of all my Chinese handheld Android devices when I weighed the pros and cons. Though the GPD XD Plus still holds up really well against it, minus the detached screen.

    • @vguyver2
      @vguyver2 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      JDX is one of those cheap brands in china, all their hardware tends to be cheap generic products, but their quality is at best middle ground. Their handheld gaming products tend to be their most ambitious attempt at original hardware, but they keep cutting too many corners on the software despite their hardware being surprisingly more robust than their standard products.
      It's a shame honestly, that they don't just release their hardware as stock with open GUI accessibility for the community they are clearly targeting.

    That processor is actually very old. I released in 2014 and it was made for the Nvidia shield tablet, and games run very well on that precise piece of hardware The Switch on the other hand has a much more powerful and quite a bit more recent Tegra X1, which has more CUDA cores based on the newer Maxwell architecture (which is actually a lot more modern that the Xbone's and PS4's comparatively ancient Southern Islands architecture) and runs at a higher clock speed compared to the K1.

      Most people who are buying this are the niche customer who are looking for a android emulation/gaming device. Which is the same audience that will get somthing like a GPD XD or Raspberry Pi and found ways to tinker with it to make it better or customize it.
      Also must customers of this device would do simple google search to get all of apps they need also.

The crappy old Android OS and the horrendous input lag, along with other issues with the buttons being either too mushy or too stiff. It's got potential, if you flush your own OS on it. As in manage to somehow put Retro-Pi. Other than this, it's worthless.

    Just a heads up, this model doesn't have the Tegra K1 chip.
    The original JXD S192 had the K1, but the JXD S192K is an update model after they experienced shortages with the Tegra K1 due to Nvidia moving away from Shield tablet production. IIRC the S192K uses a 1.8GHZ quad core Mediatek chip. It's still a decent device, but a dramatic downgrade from the K1, and JXD didn't change the price or product description with the change.

    Well i want to give this thing a chance for new firmware updates to fix all those problems.
    I see very high potential in this system, if even the latest android update does not allow you to get full access to the full power capable processor, we may should jailbrake it with our own firmware to tacle the system to it’s limit to smooth up and debug those emulators etc,,,
    However ,if it is impossible to reflash it’s rom to jailbrake it,then this becomes a deal braker.

      @StarlinkNova 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nate Freeman
      I'd go with the GPD XD if you are looking at playing games via emulation. It works well at playing games up to the Genesis/Mega Drive. It's better to have a dedicated system for that rather then modifying your Vita imo.
      In the end however, its entirely up to you of course.

    • @gnmpolicemata
      @gnmpolicemata 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Nate Freeman keep in mind that the PS Vita can also use all of the emulators available on the PSP. It's a pretty good console, but remember something else - unless you have an SD2Vita adapter or something along those lines, you'll have to use the bullshit proprietary memory cards.

    i had the same problem with portable consoles
    i managed to fix the SD card reading by Formatting the SD CARD
    and trying different types one of my portable consoles
    only accepted "FAT 32" formatting on the SD memory card ,,
    another console i had would only accept exFAT formatting ..
    another console i had would only accept NTFS formatting on the SD CARD
    Generally that is why it just Scans continuously if the SD card
    as it is most likely in the wrong format ,,,
    FROM GOOGLE
    Generally speaking, exFAT drives are faster at writing and reading data
    than FAT32 drives. ...
    Apart from writing large files to the USB drive,
    exFAT outperformed FAT32 in all tests.
    And in the large file test it was almost the same.
    Note: All benchmarks show that NTFS is much faster than exFAT ...

      Not trying to give this thing any praise... I think it's pretty sad they didn't bother giving the OS a decent upgrade all this time for such decent hardware. However, It is actually more ergonomic and comfortable than the Switch - by far. Also for the Switch, many people actually hate the shape of the console and complain just how uncomfortable the pad placement is.

      RJ Nash This thing controllers look like, actual controllers, stuff made to be holded by your hands.

      Dude this thing is actually pretty awesome to hold and use. Out of all my gaming handhelds, this is the only one I can comfortably play any game at all on the screen and built-in controls, rather than using HDMI and a bluetooth controller. Everything from Gameboy to SNES to Dreamcast emulation, to Baldi's Basics (Android game) works great on here. The analog sticks are the same quality as those you'd find on an Android bluetooth controller (the red and black PlayStation imitation).

    it looks interesting at first but after seeing the video and the asking price i would probably be better off buying on of those gamepad controllers for android. My samsung note 10 lite for instance has the same screen resolution, although its "only" 6.7' the most recent android update and to the extent of my knowledge enough hardware power to run most of the games shown in this device. Thanks for making this video tho, or i would probably just be hyped up for no reason

    if anyone gonna buys this kind of thing from gearbest anyway, just buy Xiaomi Blackshark instead. it's world better than this junk
    not just android 5.1 that old, Tegra k1 itself release way back in 2014 and well known for unstable performance and bad battery life.
    also if you interest in android emulator, most emulators support GPU like Adreno that found on Snapdragon chipset much better than Mali and Tegra GPU, you can even emulate GameCube and PSP smoothly on phone with Snapdragon 845 chipset

      Actually the Tegra K1 was known for great performance and still has some the best drivers in the Android space. The Tegra that was bad was the Tegra 2 and 3 and the Tegra 4 lacked opengl es 3.0 support. Snapdragon gpu drivers are still not good and also the only reason Dolphin is running good is workarounds and hardware power increases. The best chipset for emulation on Android is still the Tegra X1 because of working drivers and full opengl.

    Anyone remember the PSP? Yeah... that was the real grandad of the nintendo switch!
    What is it used for now? Mostly emulation. Yeah, same thing the switch is being hacked in for and selling in it's store; the psp did it years ago. Well why not? It emulated playstation games just fine. It was very sturdy too; pity it weighed a TON!
    So glad those UMD's were an option. Now you can stick it on a memory card and suddenly you got a digital version of that same game. No umd, no whirring noises. Ah good times.

It is the only problem I have with the Nvidia tablet. Also, the Nintendo switch uses the Nvidia X1, which is the chipset above the K1. Just a little extra info for you.

    No mention of the nvidia app and game marketplace? Lollipop? I am confused. The singularity s192 with the k1 has the nvidia storefront preloaded, and ships with android oreo, and handles ps2 and gamecube games without a sweat. Lollipop only comes with the s192k which has the less powerful rockchip 3288 but has 4 gigs of ram, and doesn't have the nvidia store. Are you sure about which one you got? If you have the s192k that would make sense as the lack of vulcan support would produce the inconsistent results you got.

    I hope one day someone will make a device that's like this in form and functionality except it runs normal Linux instead of Android and lets you do what you want with it. A PC in a Switch form factor, really. I know there's handheld Linux-based devices out there but they're a bit underpowered or have weird control layouts.

    I like the looks of this a lot, but since I already have a GPD XD Plus, I see no need to go with it. I would love to use the JXDS for videos and maybe some games, especially with that TV output (but let me tell you, having the output on the bottom of the console halfway kills it for me...HDMI cables are stiff enough that the curve would really make me uncomfortable).
    The GPDXD Plus has Android 7.0, and is basically THIS device. Just a bit better. It has the same issues with some of its higher supported consoles though, like Dreamcast and N64 games not using all the buttons; some games worked a little better with my bluetooth controller though, the one that looks like a PlayStation controller.
    There's also the Tlex Ulike, which is much cheaper (around $50 I think) and is just like this device, but running Android 4.1 or something, and it's built much smaller and less durable. After one day sitting in my lunch box at work near a garage room door, the outside air put patches on its screen that remained permanently. I'm not saying that was a smart choice, I'm just saying...all my other stuff never did that. It has HDMI output as well, and its USB port allows conversion to use USB controllers (a plus against the better systems, since it means no input lag).
    The Blaze Tab Plus is another one that looks similar to a Switch, I think...or like something else. Can't remember otherwise. Similar to the GPD XD Plus (the original GPD XD ran Android 4).
    I'm happy to see yet another system like this crop up, but know that I still have a superior one. I guess this is the new trend for those Chinese companies, making Android devices with great build quality and made for game emulation. I think I'll wait till one comes out that can even emulate PS2 games :) that might be in the far future still, but it'd be pretty cool to have. Jeez, this thing makes me want to play Armored Core for the PS1 on my GPD XD Plus now.

    Yeah, a couple years ago I got a JXD...s7900 I think it was? Looked nice, and for $150 it seemed an absolute steal, yet when it arrived the analog pads were godawful and flimsy, the battery life was terrible and emulation was all over the place. It was tied to Android Marshmallow I believe. I was back to my modded phat PSP in very short time.
    I definately don't recommend anything from JXD in terms of quality after my experience and hearing this. Especially not for double the damn price of the already crappy S7900 with almost the same specs, just a crappier GPU.

    • @Bro-cx2jc
      @Bro-cx2jc 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The RAM might be incorrect, but I wouldn't be surprised if perhaps the ROM was telling the truth. On some operating systems nowadays (computers, not Android), they still can't recognize partitions or disks over 32 GB. I had an SD card with 64 GB space on it at one point, and it could only be read up to 32 GB. If I set its size to 64 GB, it would be empty and permanently read-only, all glitchy and incompatible. So perhaps Rerez's computer just couldn't see the second half of the disk.

      I didn't think he was from Poland.. but rather ethnical background / family background etc. The surname doesn't have any relevance beyond first migration as someone could very well be polish mother with irish father and then the family adapted the Irish surname. So my question still stands. Canada and USA isn't an "ethnical group" after all.
