    CONTENT ADVICE:
This channel aims to deliver an immersive experience somewhere between an audiobook and a radio drama. Music and sound effects may be used to enhance the reading as this is what I personally enjoy. If you don't like this, there are plenty of similar channels that don't do this and they'd love to meet you.
Similarly, I'm not a trained actor but I do try and do voices and accents to help listeners differentiate between characters. If it's an American character I'll do my best attempt at an American accent (rather than say a Birmingham, England "Brummie" accent). If this kind of thing annoys you, again look elsewhere.
Also, I am mostly choosing stories from a certain time period that I think have something to recommend them. They won't be to everyone's taste, and may contain...wait for it...values, ideas and language that were prevalent when the stories were written. They do not necessarily reflect the views of the management.
Finally, I'm an amateur doing this as a hobby with only a few hours a week to devote to it, not making much money from it, recording with the cheap equipment I've managed to scrape together in whatever less-than-ideal space I've found to record in, editing and mixing it in the idiosyncratic way that works for me, and trying to deliver something that I can stand to listen back to without cringing, which anyone is able to listen to for free if they wish (and which at least some people subscribing to this channel seem to enjoy). Something to bear in mind in case you thought I did this at Abbey Road with Trevor Horn twiddling the knobs.
    Ta.

Hello Cryptonites! Something a bit different perhaps. A study of all-consuming artistic obsession and its terrifying consequences. A wonderfully vivid piece of writing too from an author I only recently discovered. A very good collection titled "The Outcast and The Rite" exists. Patreons/Channel Members: there *will* be a Postmortem episode for this, but it'll be a few days or more. Thanks to everyone who listens.

Being completely honest, but I have no interest in finishing Todd. It got lousy views, the episodes took too long to do, and I have very little time to do this as it is. So in my mind it's cancelled due to bad ratings.

I loved how this was written, I love an internal dialogue, I think that's why I go back to Mrs Dalloway on an annual basis, I love Faulkner for the same reason, with his writing it's like being lost in someone else's fog.

I thought this story electrifying, and truly skillful. I knew, knew and knew again what the end was going to be. Although it is not in the story, he will be visiting the shingle again.... Fabulous, Jasper... Now l look her up to read more. I wondered in the beginning if she herself was both writer and painter because she so utterly seemed to glide into the mind of an artist. Wow.

I really enjoyed this author’s poetic descriptions. I get the feeling that she herself loved to haunt lonely marshes and how the varying moods of weather could change the whole feel of it. To see life and magic in a landscape that might be dismissed for not being typically picturesque. You do her style great justice. Beautifully told and the effects were spot on as always! Thank you Jasper! …..I also want to add that I feel the quality of everything you’ve created has been absolute perfection !!! 🐙

Amazing story. Amazing writer. Amazing reading.
Everything comes together....just like the water and the land marrying, melding into the light. And wind.
Thank you so much Jasper for bringing to life this author who knows what it is to be completely IN nature, share its consciousness, its rythms.
Never read/heard writing like this. It validates glimpses and flashes of feeling, perception I've always had, without giving them their due place.
Different parts/aspects of nature as conscious divinity. To be received, experienced, addressed, worked with, navigated, worshipped.
I like the comparison that another poster made to a Turner painting. The whole story, the whole world it describes is like Turner's work.
    Wow

A story like a Turner painting, all mood and impending doom.
Brought skilfully to life for us by you Jasper. Thank you.
A clever author to be sure as she had me loathing the protagonist in very little time.
She has such a grasp of the flawed dynamics of some relationships.
I found myself wanting so much, his demise but seeing clearly the light of the oncoming train.
If he were my protagonist, I would have had the daft, mad, git drown himself!

    • @EnCryptedHorror

In our Pacific Northwest Cascadian lands surrounding
the Puget Sound: our salty sea has crept up the banks
    with thick, humid air
    on this foggy blueish morning.
    It is not dense,
    it moves like silk or
    sand through one’s hands,
as it wraps itself in & out
    of the trees.
    Small morning birds echo,
    across the valley ducks
    honk & in the distance
    our I5 “autobahn” sounds
like the coastal oceans & the trains, having come & gone,
    all night long;
    there is movement
    of human & nature;
    both natural & nurturing
we bring things forth & from,
upon this day- our daily bread.
We forage for tea & toast,
    cabinet blessings,
having been from seed to soup.
    Energy:
    all transitions,
    all mutates.
    All is from before,
    from here & now,
    to become
    a gain,
    again.
    -a poem for Jasper L’Strange
    w/ regards,
    EMP
