  • Well, on the metaphorical roundabout that is this channel, we have arrived where we started over a year ago. My first Yes video was at the end of March... in 2023. It's been a whole year with this band. And I have loved every second of it. They are a big factor in me still being here. And that's the brutal truth of life. I am so grateful for y'all and this band. This performance was magical. The definitive version of this song for me.

The Rainbow was a classic north London venue. I saw Yes there in 1980. Genesis did three shows there in 1977 to introduce Chester Thompson. All the great bands played there. The energy of Yes here is phenomenal.

Rick tells a story about why he wears a cape. During an early concert, a reporter wrote that he "looked like a demented spider" because of the the way he played all his keyboards, both hands and one foot. Also, some band wrote a song called _Rick Wakeman's Cape._ I sheet you not. IIR, I listened to it on Spotify.

I was lucky enough to see Yes in concert in 1973, festival style "seating" and I was right in front of Steve Howe. It was an absolutely masterful performance. Every one of the band was a virtuoso. A fantastic show

Yes, Paul played drums on "Dear Prudence" in Ringo's absence. However, word was that when Ringo returned, some of his drumming was overdubbed for the last part, hence that very noticeable Ringo style in the last verse .

I have to break ranks here (and duck and cover) to say that I don’t like Yessongs other than the cover. For me, the performances are too raw and unpolished and the sound quality is tinny. Siberian Khatru and Yours is No Disgrace are OK but Jon loses pitch at the end of Starship Trooper and that always irked me. Plus Steve Howe endlessly a-noodling as is his wont. I know Yes can achieve perfection live - as on Yesshows. I guess that was later, of course, but one Yes album I never return to is this. Sorry fans! ❤

Don't bye-pass Yessongs the album like most others have done just because of the video recordings you've listened to. While the visual experience of the videos is classical, the album audio versions have to be listened to. You have to understand that most of us did not have access to the videos back then anyway. This album (triple) was the definitive Yes for me and the must have in my collection. It made me realize that live Yes was always best (except for Topographic Oceans and Going for the One).
