As an OG/Veteran, re:chain of Memories was honestly good; combat is easy to follow if u pay attention & don't skip out on grinding, tutorials, etc. A lot of people are turned off by it due to it having a card battle system & then switching towards watching the cut-scenes, rather than actually put in effort & play the game to the end. I agree! Good game once you get the hang of the controls and figure what cards to have on deck and how they work. The White Mushroom Enemy card wasn't exactly intuitive to get, but there are FAQs for that sort of thing. Other than that, card collection is pretty random, but at least rare cards are MUCH easier to get than the rare item drops in Final Fantasy 4... that is, if you look up FAQs and figure out what kinds of rooms to create on what floors... But yeah, good game.
IMO, Chain of Memories is a great battle system, which was unwisely wasted on Kingdom Hearts players. After KH1, many players would only ever accept something similar to KH1. They weren't gonna accept a card system, or a turn-based RPG system, or a tactics-based system, or even a system like TWEWY's. Games that stray too far are either not taken seriously (like MoM) or have once again been heavily criticized by the community (like Union X). Square needs to put those ideas to better use in original IPs.
I will say that the "retreading the old worlds" element was more novel when they were pixel art recreations of those worlds and not the exact same assets from the previous game. It looks lazy that way. But its understandable that would be the best way to recreate this game in 3D which is cool, and the 3D cutscenes and voice acting are appreciated. I do wish there was a good combination of the two though. With the easier to understand gameplay (since the GBA version was on a 2D plane during battles) and the amazing pixel art, but also having the production value and voice acting the remade cutscenes got.
I lovedwatching you experience the games! I can't wait to see your other videos! CoM is my favorite game just because of Riku's side! It's soo good! I even enjoy the game play. It is fun but it is very different so a lot of people don't play long enough to get used to it.
My sister started playing this around the time Leigh was finishing up her KH series playthrough and I really wish she (sister) could get the chance to get to Riku's story. I was thankful in that the GBA version was owned by my brother first, so I could just skip ahead and complete Riku's story when I got too frustrated with playing Sora's as a kid. (This has also helped validate that my sister doesn't NEED to play the whole thing in order to enjoy it. She's gotten about as much as she's willing to from the game, I think.)
Oh my, this is exactly the video I need since I finally got time to replay KH, but I never could play through CoM in the past, and now I couldn't stand the card based gameplay. So this video is giving me the story and the agony of the game in one hit. God sent!
I first discovered your channel from your KH3 reaction videos and they were so fun to watch! I only played 1 and 2 as a kid and watched the cutscenes of all the other games right before 3 came out. Seeing that you had video for each game inspired me to play through the entire series in order recently. I've been holding off from watching each of your videos until after I beat each game. I just finished Re:CoM tonight grinding through its awful gameplay. Whenever I would get frustrated playing it I would think of how great it would be to see your reactions to the same struggles. Turns out you just played the beginning then watched the cutscenes for the rest, which is so funny to me. Your reactions were still amazing and it's so fun to be reminded of what experiencing the story was like for the first time and getting to see what things stuck out to you differently!
I hope this channel gets huge, in a very short amount of time you’ve become one of my favourite TH-camrs/streamers ever, maybe even my favourite. Keep up the amazing work ❤️.

Just found your channel, and I have to say I love your editing style for these videos. I simply don't have enough time to watch entire VODs, so I super appreciate the length you've made these. Looking forward to watching the rest of the series as well! :)
And then I look at Jiminy the Cricket at the end of Sora's part of the story. Me: WRITE MORE THEN 2 BLOODY WORDS "Thank Namine"? WTF is THAT supposed to mean?! I won't even KNOW a Namine when I wake up! WRITE MOOOOORREEE~~~~!
The card system is actually very good. Its just hard at first. Great video though! I love watching your reactions. Kingdom hearts 2 is the best game ever and I'm excited for you to play it! Please play it! ill watch the whole thing!
Watching this brings back so many memories of playing this game on GBA back in the day. I remember the third Riku fight on Sora's route took me FOREVER to beat like months LOL Watching your journey through Kingdom Hearts on stream has been a joy and I'm glad to be able to watch your experiences with early games since I found this community during Birth by Sleep.
You know it makes me happy seeing everyone finally giving kingdom hearts a chance and really seeing how good of a series it is after so long of growing up with the series.
I have a feeling this game was a heck of a lot easier on GBA. I don't remember having much trouble at all with the difficulty. Having to keep track of a 2D plane seems easier than managing the cards when in a 3D environment.
I haven't played the original but I imagine just being in a different visual setting would also help a lot to combat the immediate "I want to button mash to attack" response most people get to kingdom hearts
"not only does he get shitted on by Riku, consistently, but he's not allowed to grieve that" The moment I realized this inadvertently describes a huge reoccurring theme throughout the series sent a shiver down my spine. Thinking about it, it seems like a major motivator for every character with personality. From X on...
Started on your Birth By Sleep: A Fragmentary Passage yesterday, and I love your reactions! And then seeing you cry during 358/2 Days may or may not have gotten me to tear up lol. Cannot wait to see your reactions when you hit KH3.
I can remember me being at the endboss fight and being so scared of loosing my mind that i just leveled without stoping and eventually accidentally firsttryed him
Love how genuine your reactions are, I just found your channel recently. You should have played through Riku's story it was better than Sora's in my opinion. It actually made the game fun, unlike Sora story which felt like a chore.
Sora be friendzoning everyone he meets. Great reaction, I also quit after my 1st playthrough & watched cutscenes & explanations lol. But I eventually did it for shits & giggles.
Yeah sometime has passed since the last time and Sora obviously did start to hit puberty a bit while traveling down that trail and then they came across this Castle Oblivion. Anyway get ready to play KH2!!!
Its dumb that she criticized donald and goofy and saying sora was justified in his reason for being mad when it turned out he wasn’t, also getting upset over dumb things like friends busting each others chops like really
The marluxia battle nearly gave me a heart attack all the way through, but I succeeded because I wished to find out the rest of the story between kh1 and kh2.
Just to let you know if you don't know already, parts of your KH 3 vods in the collection on your twitch have parts of the VOD bar in red and when you try to watch the VOD at the time where the bar is red, it gives a network error and crashes the VOD. It's most notable in the "finale" stream.
Riku’s path up until Dream Drop Distance is all about trying to lead his heart along the fine line between light and darkness, his light side is a broken man who’s struggling to find the right path and his darkness is giving into Xeanort’s heartless’es dark power that could push him into oblivion and he has to find a way to balance that so he can become a better person
someone might have said this already but that last last fight with Marluxia with the big angel thingy nobody behind him is not in the GBA version. its just the 1st fight then the 2nd fight with him riding the scyther lookin thing. but yes it was hard lol.
Marluxia: Everything here is ruled by cards.
Sora: Understood. COME FORTH, BLUE-EYES WHITE DRAGON!!!

This is literally my favorite series on TH-cam right now!♥️
She ... SHES GOING IN ORDER LETSGOOO
Omg I cant wait for your KH2 journey. So many good moments!
I kept up with the streams, but KH is such a good series, getting to experience them again in an edited fashion is awesome
I hope this channel gets huge, in a very short amount of time you’ve become one of my favourite TH-camrs/streamers ever, maybe even my favourite. Keep up the amazing work ❤️.
So glad you are doing kingdom hearts! You are amazing and youre channel is awesome. Please keep up these wonderful adventures!
Ooooh we're getting the whole series? Hell yes!! I adore watching new people experience my favorite series of all time. Looking forward to the rest ❤️🔥🤙🏼
I find it super heartwarming watching her play all my favorite games and cry... Very cute and all around good content too
But she didn't play it xd
I love watching you experience kh please keep the videos coming
This game always destroys me. I am so glad I get to watch you experience this series for the first time. (I don't know if you are ready for KH2 lol)
God I can’t wait till the KH 2 experience is out, be ready for all the hearts to cry
Just found your channel, and I have to say I love your editing style for these videos. I simply don't have enough time to watch entire VODs, so I super appreciate the length you've made these.
Looking forward to watching the rest of the series as well! :)
I'm SO EXCITED for the next part in this series!!!!!!!!!!!! It's so cathartic to see this journey through fresh eyes again.
all of the other videos: crying, uncontrollable sadness and crying
this one: FUCKING GOD THIS CONTROL SCHEME
I can't wait to see the more i love this series so much
And then I look at Jiminy the Cricket at the end of Sora's part of the story.
Me: WRITE MORE THEN 2 BLOODY WORDS "Thank Namine"? WTF is THAT supposed to mean?! I won't even KNOW a Namine when I wake up! WRITE MOOOOORREEE~~~~!
I can't wait for the Kingdom Hearts 2 run
Yay, the saga continues! KH2 will be a rollercoaster of emotions tho and be prepared for Axel’s epicness
Kingdom hearts chain of memories is just basically Naminé's self-insert fanfic of the first game.
The card system is actually very good. Its just hard at first. Great video though! I love watching your reactions. Kingdom hearts 2 is the best game ever and I'm excited for you to play it! Please play it! ill watch the whole thing!
this game needs you to be smart and that’s my weakness
She's already beaten the entire series so keep an eye out for the edited replays as they're finished!
@@Kynaeus even CoM?
Watching this brings back so many memories of playing this game on GBA back in the day. I remember the third Riku fight on Sora's route took me FOREVER to beat like months LOL Watching your journey through Kingdom Hearts on stream has been a joy and I'm glad to be able to watch your experiences with early games since I found this community during Birth by Sleep.
0:51 "You think we can just skip Donald?" Oh boy, you'll retract those words soooooooo fast when you get to KH3
I really can't wait for your kh2 vid. It's gonna be fun watching your reactions on Roxas
You know it makes me happy seeing everyone finally giving kingdom hearts a chance and really seeing how good of a series it is after so long of growing up with the series.
I really really can’t wait for the kh2 vid. Roxas is my favorite character
Been a huge fan of the channel cant wait to see the rest of the kingdom hearts series you're the best @LeighXP
Your reaction to kingdom hearts made me cry
I have a feeling this game was a heck of a lot easier on GBA. I don't remember having much trouble at all with the difficulty. Having to keep track of a 2D plane seems easier than managing the cards when in a 3D environment.
I haven't played the original but I imagine just being in a different visual setting would also help a lot to combat the immediate "I want to button mash to attack" response most people get to kingdom hearts
God i cant wait for the kh2 video
your reactions are so adorable
God I love that everyone refers to him as Billy Zane without exception.
"not only does he get shitted on by Riku, consistently, but he's not allowed to grieve that"
The moment I realized this inadvertently describes a huge reoccurring theme throughout the series sent a shiver down my spine. Thinking about it, it seems like a major motivator for every character with personality. From X on...
This is so wonderful! Can't wait until you cover KHII
Started on your Birth By Sleep: A Fragmentary Passage yesterday, and I love your reactions! And then seeing you cry during 358/2 Days may or may not have gotten me to tear up lol. Cannot wait to see your reactions when you hit KH3.
I love these reactions they are absolute gold! 😂
0:08 CoM came out on GBA (I think), and was a direct sequel to KH1. Years later, this came out after KH2, hence the all of a sudden voice drop
The ending is more amazing when you remember that Rikus keyblades name is *The Way To The Dawn*
Finally, TH-cam recommends something besides videos I've already seen and random 20 second clips
Never got through this whole game as a kid lol so this is cool to see! So excited for the rest of them!
This is one of the better stories in KH to me.
omg. i forgot how jarring dropped balls sora was.
thank u for making video about funny yugioh card game
Pretty disappointed she gave up on the combat so early, it can be pretty engaging and op once you get the hang of it.
I watched a tutorial before playing and it helped a lot! Really liked the game as an action-puzzle mashup with some rpg elements to it.
Found your video on kh2 and loved seeing your reactions in it and the other games. Gonna stick around
Yeah sometime has passed since the last time and Sora obviously did start to hit puberty a bit while traveling down that trail and then they came across this Castle Oblivion. Anyway get ready to play KH2!!!
At 13:14 when Namine said "I'm not there" she morphs into a cowgirl
The best thing in this game is when Sora summons the Blue Eyes White Dragon.
Ha ha ha ha ha!!!! Good one!
Yay! The journey continues!
Just to let you know if you don't know already, parts of your KH 3 vods in the collection on your twitch have parts of the VOD bar in red and when you try to watch the VOD at the time where the bar is red, it gives a network error and crashes the VOD. It's most notable in the "finale" stream.
06:13 so true
i knew you'd understand
so we are gonna watch the cut scenes. i feel this, never got past Leon in the beginning of the game haha.
Word of advice, play KH2 then either watch or play 358/2 days in that order, if done in any other order it might spoil stuff in KH2.
She played in release order and has beaten the full series prior to posting this video
24:36 that dog basically saids it all lol
I cannot with the smiling dog reaction, it's just too hilarious. Put a perm hair on the dog is funnier
Here’s a curious cucumber I wonder if they bring back a version of sora that excepted the chain of memories changed memories as an alternate universe!
