  • MJX Makes some of the best 1/16th basher buggies you can buy and now MJX are trying to produce the same success but in 1/10th scale. Now this sounds easy right, just scale up what you have done already and bingo, you have a winning 1/10th. Unfortunately, this is not how it works as weight increases, so do the stress levels and you quickly find out the design that works perfectly well at 1/16th, just isn't strong enough anymore. We have seen WLToys fail when first moving to 1/10th releases. Not only that, but trying to keep to a super tight budget is a real challenge at the $190 price point for an RTR. Well have MJX pulled this off, let's find out.

    Bough it at my local hobby shop, am very impressed with the build quality. Having only played with WLToys " 1/10, 1/12 and 1/14 buggy and truck, this Hyper go is a huge upgrade! Its my best rc car now

    I can't believe they made the quick release slide forward to unlock. Over time, it's gonna slide forward every time you land a jump or run into anything.
    It's always nice to have more choices \ competition in the market, but like you mentioned, you can't just scale everything up 1 to 1 and no actual R&D involved.
    The truck has some issues with ground clearance, shock travel, wheelbase, etc... that are probably a result of them going into the CAD program and hitting "scale 150%" and calling it a day.
    However, i was under the impression this was a $280 vehicle.
    It seems the price is much different, which may tempt some folks.
    My prior MJX experience is steering me away, however.
    With them, powder metal was the only gears they used, and pressed (not CNC) aluminum for other parts.
    Diffs stripped, spurs stripped, i lost patience, and my 14301 sits on the shelf, while my Arrma vehicles get driven every week.
    They're also a bee to wrench on.
    While i enjoy wrenching on my Arrma vehicles, for the most part.
    That cutoff voltage is also odd, not the best for your batteries. 3.0v is kinda low. 3.2 or 3.4 is more in line with industry standard. I realize you can adjust these things, but Timmy "my first RC" Smith isn't going to know about that stuff. Timmy won't read the manual, let alone dive into ESC LVC. Combine low LVC with a USB charger and your batteries could get unhappy fast.

    Great review, thank you! I was just about to buy my first cheap car - a WLToys 124008 - but this has made me reconsider!

    Nice review and run! I saw Derby City RC put some shocks from another truck on there and solved the clearance issue. I'm no basher expert either, but from what I understand is.. you want some chassis slap to absorb the impact instead of it going to your shocks and blowing out the seals. Although, that can still happen from hard or awkward landings. Seems like a tough rig, and I like the steering geometry on this one. Much better than the 1/14 scales

      Yep it needs some work to improve the landing characteristics if you are into big air jumping.

    I enjoyed your review. It was very thorough as usual. It seems like a very good little truck. It interesting to compare reviews. Some of the bashers who like MJX Hyper Go trucks expressed disappointment in this one. I thought your review really hit the positives. You had the one lighting connection came apart. One thing that's worked for me is a piece of shrink tubing will hold in place and it's easy remove. Keep up the good work.

    Excellent video, but the thumbnail looks a bit like you're checking if its a boy or girl hahahaha. But don't change it because it gets clicks, and im slightly jealous of it.

    When it comes to my rc collection I narrow it down to 10 trucks and mjx is no where near my list 😅not even top 20 I don’t actually know anyone that would buy a a hypergo over arrma traxxas Losi mavick etc with the GROM line arrma is come up with I doubt these other Chinese brands would last

      I had the MJX H14BM, returned it, saved $100 more and got the Granite 3s.
      Best decision I ever made.
      2 year warranty with the Granite is a godsend.
      My MJX kept losing bellcrank and steering linkage screws, the rear a arm pins weren't captured with a screw, they were press-fit and I had to glue one back in.
      For the kind of money they want for the 10th scale MJX, I don't think it makes sense, especially as you're running 4s to get 3s speeds.
      It's nice to have big boy RC competition, but I'd never buy one.

    Doesn't seem to be much dislike for this little rocket. Longer suspension arms would give it a little more stability width wise.
    Did you notice the tyres rubbing on the bodyshell at all? Just seems a little too narrow but damn great little MT that's for sure!! 4S would be a weapon!!
    Awesome unboxing and run Gavin!!

      @@RCKickschannel 100% agree it's not a track runner but that's why I want to see how you get on. I watch your channel as you do builds etc that my wife would kill me for if I spent all that money. I'd love to try racing a Hornet evo at my local club but I don't have the time or cash for such crazy folly. That's why we have RCkicks! BTW you still owe me £250 for that NRC K24 😂

    • @russlondon
      @russlondon 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      To explain further, I already race Yokomo/Associated at my local club using the same cars as everyone else. So when you do video diaries of racing your PR or Associated I enjoy them but it's not really anything new as a racer i see that every weekend -it's the norm. A re-re 40th aniv Hornet racing on carpet -where else would i be able to see that? Would be great fun to watch you squeeze as much performance out of it as possible....that would be great RC entertainment.

      Since it comes with no battery, you can just get a 2S battery instead of a 4S. That would make it around half as fast, but still super fun for a kid.

    Why is yours different because everybody else has had a bad time with it ? Very strange then I see your link is for the uk dealer? Then I read this dealer had a container on route when the first batch came out with its issues even beyond rc and tomley rc with a few others have reported different stories. Anyone thinking of buying this should do a lot of research first !

    • @RCKickschannel
      @RCKickschannel  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      100% if you are thinking of buying any RC, well worth looking into them as much as possible. What issues are you talking about by the way other than the ones I covered in my video? I don't watch other people's videos before making my own, as I like to make my own mind up and not be influenced by others. I just went and had a look at a couple of reviews, and I didn't see any nightmare issues with this truck?
      MJX sent me the unit as well as the product links for the video. I don't have any contact or affiliate links with the UK company. If you purchase one from this company I don't make a penny. :)

      @grumpygrandpa3640 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@RCKickschannel it was more in the community posts fella regarding upgraded versions and what TH-camrs got I think the main issues folks are having is blown tyres overheating and a few other minor bits. Apparently what the TH-camrs got for free to review isn’t what the buyers will be getting but it seems like that’s been a big fat lie and TH-camrs tried to cover it up not all just some which mjx asked them to do either way I personally now wont be getting one. The link you provided is to the company that’s in question along with beyond rc and a few others which is why I mentioned it

    • @RCKickschannel
      @RCKickschannel  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@grumpygrandpa3640 The tyres are a softer compound than I would like for a basher with that much power. I didn’t have an issue with a blowout (commented on in the video) but I can see this happening. I’ve also seen this on XMAXX’s and a load of others. You could thicken up the diff oils to help with this but it’s something to be mindful of for sure.
      I would be surprised to see an RC TH-camr covering anything up. I’ve talked with a load of them and in four years, I’ve only ever been asked to remove a (true) negative comment and I will never work with them again because of that. All other companies let us do whatever we like with cars and set no limitations on what we do and say. MJX has never said a word. I sent my feedback back to them covering what I said in the video and that’s it. No cloak and dagger stuff. Yes, Some RC channels are more corporate focused, so tend to stay away from offering open opinions and stick to just product factual specs and features but I wouldn’t say these are being deceitful. I give my personal opinion openly, sometimes it’s not a popular opinion and sometimes it is.
      The product link will be the same for UK RC TH-camrs, as it comes from MJX directly and its links to the MJX UK distributer. Not sure if the others have affiliate links for this product or not but I don’t.

      I think if I remember correctly the shock travel needs some work. I’m sure I’ve seen a few videos online showing you how to do that and what parts are required
