Im sad there wasn’t more Bata in the video. I have been playing for many years and i have never heard it with jazz. I love this combination. The vocals were mind blowing as well. Very good, amazing, magnificent.
the only problem I have with congahead is theres too much music on here , thats tooo damn good to get round to watching it all , what a happy problem Like this brilliant voice where else would I of ever heard it !!
I have yet to hear a single performance with Axel in it that is anything less than brilliant. A whole lot of music in him - and the great musicians here. Bravo, brother.
So true! He's a brilliant musician and composer. He is progressive and I like the way he fuses different genres with his Afro-Cuban background. Mad Genius!
Preciosa ejecución y una voz increible....No sé si me equivoco, pero el primero en usar ese concepto de tocar los tres batás a la vez fue Angel "cachete" Maldonado.
These are musician folks. What execution by all. Pedrito is the nicest guy. We hung out with his group in Honolulu a few years back. Saw the at The Blue Note there. Man it was fun to see and hear live. But this is straight up fire. So good.
I grew up listening to Latin Jazz... Tito Puente, Cal Tjader, Poncho Sanchez, Giovanni Hidalgo and all the heavy weights, but this, this is far beyond that. PURE EVOLUTION. Great...
Polyrhythms, Joruba Religious Music, Latin Jazz, Fusion and more. Great Rhythm section, Piano and the Horns were also great. I'm a Pianist and Bassist and would have loved to hear the Bass a bit louder. I wanted more, I guess I'll looking for Unity on the Web. Thank you! Great Job done by all!
AUHHHH ashe pa este proyecto. umoni ya tu sabes.... Axel, chris, Max, Lucas, Mike. auuuu... Amaury por ahi! esos son los palos GUARAPACHANG....... modupue el Africa. felicitaciones. exelente. Mauro.
No doubt Pedrito Martinez isd one of the greatest Afro-Cuban conga/singer player. Amazing musician. Thanks Pedrito for bringing Afro-Cuba with you all the time. Thanks.
FANTASTIC!!!!! I ain't hearing music like this enough, this is what should be popular instead of the sh.t they play on the radio everyday, that is why you can rely on LP's martincongahead founder of the LP percussion. Always bringing together the best talent! Maximum Respect!!
This is so so so good, nobody asked but they play B Section of "The Return Of The Prodigal Son" from Brian Blade´s Fellowship band, amazing band, amazing tune and very well called in this session!
Great track. The more often I listen to it, the better it becomes. I already melt at the intro Rhodes chord-opening, how full spirit/soul the playing of Axel Tosca... They all do a great job, for example, the sax solo by Max Cudworth (?) -- so dreamy and jazzy. The only thing that I think of now that would have been better is if the quite vigourous singing by Pedrito would start later in the song, to keep the mellow soft energy longer during the intro.
Dammit man.. Lucas is one of my favorite tenor players. Look for him around 6:35 in this video. Christ, he only looks like he's 15. Can't wait to hear what he does next.

Listening to this during quarantine 2020. Doesn’t get old for me.
Im sad there wasn’t more Bata in the video. I have been playing for many years and i have never heard it with jazz. I love this combination. The vocals were mind blowing as well. Very good, amazing, magnificent.
There's a set with Pedrito.and.Wynton Marsalis that's super informative
I hadn't seen this before ! HOW TF DID I MISS THIS !?!?
Que vivan todos los Cubanos que andamos por el mundo y que viva la buena musica.
Bravo!
Asi es
Pedrito....oh man what can I tell you. You are a true Afro-Cuban hero. You keep the lament of our African ancestors alive
nine years later Pedrito hasn't aged at all. The hardest working maestro of afro cuban music, and one of the greatest of all time.
I'm going to say that there is chano pozo, thelonious, miles, the trane, dexter gordon, lester young and others' spirits around these young fellows...
i have no idea who'd dislike this video. I've played it at least one hundred times. love it.
+Alexis Mitchell I've hit this at least 3 times in the last hour...Fantastic...
The plays a mean Sax ala Wayne Shorter, the trumpet player reminds me of Freeddy Hubbard, , just love it"""
Alexis Mitchell I’m sure haters dislike it
I swear, sis.
I didn’t dislike it but I guess some people don’t like that tooty toot toot noise from those musical blowing machines
@congahead1 Thanks for your kind thoughts. Your words drive me to create more videos with the best talent in the world. Keep watching.
This just shows how connected we are as humans . Everything else…
This piece should have a million views. The musicianship is off the charts.
