      nah thats not true , merengue was originated from african music during the late 1800s.. it consisted of a tambora which is the main drums used as well as an acordian and a guira the instrument that looks like a grater. Because music began to modernize , merengue musicians actually began incorporate such instruments because of salsa.

    That's a lie sir.. Meringue is AFRICAN
    2) compa is AFRICAN base. And none of you beat doesn't sound meringue
    3) meringue was already established in the WHOLE Island way before being adopted .

    • @mcklapierre6182
      @mcklapierre6182 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You need to take back your nonsense. The base of our music is RARA CREATED by the slaves. Listen to Tropicana, Zinglin for exemple, playing their drum in harmony with the bass and all the instruments in the back..
      These instruments are the platform of the compas. This has nothing to do with DR

    Kompa has influence of Salsa, not merengue, the name kompa is from a Spanish rhythm named compas

    • @xizoxd2467
      @xizoxd2467 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're thinking of dominican merengue. We have haitian meringue which is folk. Kompa came from this set of folk music. Now lets talk about how them our music and dance style been stolen in Africa such as kizomba.

  • @alexskatit4188
    @alexskatit4188 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Stop with your pro-dominican misinformation.
    Konpa does not come from dominican Merengue. Totally different beat.
    Haitian Meringue and Dominican Merengue share similarities.

  • @kennyjacques5049

    How dare you. Merengue existed before the Dominican Republic did.Before the revolution.The rythm is voodoo.Before we gave the Dominicans independence,we occupied there country and We created merengue together.
