EE, Been playing for a few months now and am always finding myself confused about some aspect of the game. Of course I've checked out other beginner's guides on youtube but your series is by far the most comprehensive and well produced that I've seen. Well done and looking forward to watching the rest and hoping you continue to produce more content as the game continues to evolve and succeed!

this series needs more views. it seems to be the only vids that explain things properly. all other starter guides will just say stuff like "get gems put in sockets" and thats about it..

These have been helping me immensely. I started playing on my own without looking anything up, so I know I'm definitely going to start up a new character at some point (above standard level as the global chat instructs me haha)
Spotted a little error: flask effects indeed don't stack, but if you have two of the same up, the STRONGER effect will be the active one (i.e. the rule is that only one buff can be active at a time). This is not the same thing as them overwriting each other.
For sure! I highly recommend playing and then coming back to resources such as this one to check information you are unsure about! Watching all of this before you even start, or atleast experience it a little, will be very confusing and youll forget most of it.

But was unable to convey what I was realizing or thinking to my son. your vids have helped. many thanks exile.trying for a Templar build, built around ice damage(melee and spells) , duel wielding maces, any pointers?
Question, do the gems have to be linked directly to work or will they all interlink no matter their position? For example can I have one skill or buff with 5 support effects?
You can use 5 support gem but you need Linked first to active the affect of support so you need 1 supported active skill and 5 gem supp at same link and socket, if you place support gem at different place and skill gem different place so the support gem will not active for active skill you want
One can also see which support gems support an active gem by hovering the active gem. The support gems supporting it and linked to it will be highlighted with a white border. This works also the other way around. Hover the support gem and see which active gems are enhanced by this.
This doesn't always work though. I have a Blink Arrow - Faster Attacks - Culling Strike - Summon Ice Golem setup, and when hovering over the support gems, the summon skill doesn't light up, and neither do they when I hover over the golem. However, down in the skill slots, the golem does have the little A and the X, and it does cull and attacks faster. Could be a bug, but I'm just saying, it doesn't work 100%
can someone explain support gems? Like do the support gems have to be righ tnext to the skill its supporting? so like i can't just fill all my armours with support gems? i would need to put a skill in the armor and then put the right support gem next to it?
Hello from 2021! I want to use Bladefall *spell* skill as main ability. Will it benefit from *Critical Strike Chance* or rather *Spell Critical Strike Chance* ? I'm so confused because this skill deals *physical* damage and it summons *blades* from the sky, just like a *blade* my character holding right now.

what about a guide for the gems that arte in the skill tree , how to use and manipulate them would be a good guide for me at least thank you for your time
I've been playing for some time now and have managed to get pretty far but I'm now lvl 68 and I've been playing the story and it says I'm on chapter 2 but I'm doing chapter 9 missions , it's too confusing, anyways I'm using an inquisitor minion and totem build with herald gems and all which is really fun for me but when I reached act 2 the enemies still die pretty instantly but so do I, I have about 1200 health and 450 shield but I'm dying instantly to normal enemies, and I have no clue why or how but it's really annoying and there's no guides around for standard mode or basic weapon and armour collection.
Just checking on the last statement, so when I hit 2 life flasks at the same time in a bad situation, it doesn't work? Only one life flask works and overrides the other?
Since when you can put your gems in your gear and put them out just like that? When I was playing few years ago I remember that I was carrying gems pretty carefully to not put them in stuff I don't use.
Same item AND with a 'link' between the sockets - note: sometimes you don't want to link some sockets as the modifier to mana cost makes the skill gems unuable (ex Hatred, linked to a Cold to Fire support)

You'll get it as you go quicker than you'd think. Don't try everything at once just find what works as you go and build around it

Ice Crash is a solid Cold based attack with decent Area of Effect!
All skills can be bought in Act 3 now with Siosa, after completing their quests.

Does a life and hybrid or Mana and hybrid count as the same type of flask? You see what I'm driving at... Would those stack?

You could always do this. They were never locked into gear at any point.
Hmm, maybe I mistook it with something else. All I remember that the game was much harder back then.
Yes, it was much more difficult in terms of player power to monster power, and due to that, a lot slower

Thanks! Nope, you can socket gems where ever you would like to. They will work the same in any socket.

I keep trying to use this spell gem glacer hammer and it only works with this one weapon if it is the only thing in my hand am I doing something wrong
Many gems are weapon specific and will only work when that weapon is equipped.
