      @atulmeena8030 nah you can buy in standard too but the prices aren't the same since in leagues everyone starts fresh so no one has had time to grind every God roll for every item as for standard league is open since launch and has had years to grind the rolls. League is exactly the same story as standard but has some modifiers that help and make some stuff harder but with higher better drop chances. Etc etc there's a lot of info but at the same time it's not as hard to get into as it seems. Just have fun bro

    Interestingly my advice to new players is to not worry about anything, not to look at any guides, and to have fun making their own character. New players really don't need to worry about trading or end game bosses or bricking their character or anything. The game is so complex that it is really worth exploring it slowly at your own pace, and then if you get hooked on the game and decide to take it seriously, its time to look up guides and a good build.
    The experience of being a brand new player is unique and fun, I wouldn't want to rob someone of that

    • @Tenkiei
      @Tenkiei  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Going at your own pace when you first start a game is important for sure. It's why I like to go into games without looking anything up, make mistakes, then look at a guide later if I feel stuck.

      @DriveCarToBar ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No way. PoE is ridiculously complex and trying to hash it out yourself is just going to frustrate most people. The game sucks at teaching you how its plethora of systems works. Currency is confusing. Crafting is a frustrating. Understanding how Evasion, Armor and Resistances work is punishing if you get it wrong with a horde of monsters one-shotting you and you never know why. ESPECIALLY if you came from playing something like Diablo games that give you an easier learning curve. For example, you don't realize that your resistances get killed after you move up into the different parts. You run out and get murdered by monsters you'd expect to have little trouble defeating and it's maddening because you were just a badass 5 minutes ago and defeated a boss. Now the first group of scrubs runs up and eats you alive, and you're like WTF happened? Why the f**k did I die?
      Oh, because the game decided to ramp up the difficulty and not tell you shit and none of the NPCs in town mentioned anything that would clue you in to looking at your character stats.
      but hey, why don't you craft something with more resistance. Oh wait, you don't have enough of the 4,827 currencies in the game? Sucks to be you. It appears you'll be suffering through this one, hoping to find uniques or rares that maybe boost you enough to get some progress. Even though your weapon worked well and your armor did what you need, it's no longer any good and needs replaced.
      Use a build guide to start with so you can actually enjoy some success and get past that stupidly hard learning curve the devs put into the game thinking it was a good idea.

    This sounds like advice for people who are gonna put at least a couple hours every day into it. I will probably not play POE for more than 2 or 3 hours a week. I won't get anywhere in a Season before it's over, so it's not like I'm "gaining an advantage."

Now If I had to start over, I'd choose to play a league ,especially the start of a league , seeing how a league unfolds, really helps a player understand that progression they need to make ,it's not like other games, you have to push if you wanna get somewhere , you can't just float around and beat the endgame like TLI .

    I started in standard. played for a while, jumped into an interesting league that had introduced upgrades i wanted to get for cheap. Once i got them i played my character back in standard again. Here and there I jumped into a league for a couple of weeks to grind out the bare minimum currency to grab one or two upgrades then went back to standard to play my main character once i obtained them (and they were super cheap). I've been playing the same build, same character since i started the game almost 3 years ago. The thought of re-grinding out a new character every league makes me want to vomit.... its simply not for me. I prefer to keep my progress and keep going forward. Not only that I'm a family man with a demanding job so, unlike streamers, I cant play games for 10 + hours a day to make a 3 month cycle remotely viable. I really enjoyed the journey to the top with my build, but its taken me so long, i never want to do it again. The only time ill truly start a new character and bring them back to 100 will be the launch of poe2, but then ill just play my main again after that's over because i've found the build that i really love. to each their own right?

    I started standard and am on my third character. Your video is motivating me to try a new build in league play.
    A question: in standard my stash is shared among the characters I’ve played and is pretty full. A new league character starts with empty stash, correct? What happens to the accumulated items when the league ends? Is it dumped into the common standard stash? What happens if there’s not enough room?
    Can anyone recommend a good inventory management video? I have pack rat tendencies!

    • @thorveim1174
      @thorveim1174 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      basically, your league stash is indeed sent to standard and merged with your current standard inventory, typically in special stash tabs that are remove-only, do not expire and will disappear after you empty them completely. Dont worry, nothing will be lost, even if your stash is already full.

    Been playing since open beta and other than the last few weeks of a league, this is on the money. Last few weeks of leagues can be pretty dead trade-wise, even if there are a lot of items listed. A lot of people don't actually want to interact with trade and are too lazy to unlist their items by this point. So if you're starting up near the end of a league, I say just make a standard character that you aren't fully invested in and then play for real the next league at launch. Nothing compares to the economy of a new league, as long as you don't pick a meta build that relies on a rare unique.

    When I started poe I played league first and that is what I always picked for I think 3 leagues but for me it was so frustrating to start at 0 every 3 months and I did quit the game for a while because of that since I thought this is the only way to play the game, when I returned to try a new league I actually realize there was something else besides league aka standard.
    I was so happy when I saw all my progress I had was saved there and I just could keep going ^^
    Now I only play standard but I also accept thet fact that stuff is so much more expensive there but tbh. I don´t really care to much to get the best items as fast as possible, after all no time pressure is why I play standard.
    I still say if you are new to poe play the league since things are way more affordable there and than decide.
    Also don´t be scarred when your atlas is cleaned of, you just have to do a the highest tier of the map you have done so far, so doing map at a tier 11 from the last league will give you all completions to tier 10 or doing a tier 16 will complet all maps until tier 15.
    Also, if you don´t like your old atlas tree or your build than don´t worry you get a free respec at the start of each league.

      Go ahead and start now, there's 2 months left so plenty of time. Prices on a lot of items have dropped, and prices on others rose but overall jumping into the league will be the best experience. Then when the next league rolls around you can choose whether you want to continue your character on Standard, or play a new one in the new league.

      @@Tenkiei depends on how much time one has i think. Though I am about to give up on poe. Spending entire days farming chaos recipes trying to save up for divine items is crap. Flame/flesh jewels gated behind rng and rng and rng. And people charging so much for them. I am not looking for easy mode. But most of poe is rng and that is just too frustrating. Now we need to group up with people geared for MF to get stuff to trade for other stuff

    • @Tenkiei
      @Tenkiei  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kailanirhys6107 You don't need to group up with MF players to get currency to trade. But a large part of the reason you're struggling is the reliance on chaos recipe.
      Chaos recipe will mean you are never truly broke, but also that you are always too poor to afford most upgrades, because it slows you down.
      Instead focus on a simple moneymaking strategy like essences (this can be done in T1 maps), you'll have a lot more money and even a multi-divine purchase will be a matter of a few hours of farming.
      Edit: All this applies in league, the reason that in standard prices are insane is the absurd amount of wealth people have there. If I buy an item for 3 div or 300 div in standard there is no difference to me.

      Time is one reason why I play standard, still it is never a mistake to start in league even if you than plan to only play standard since with league prices you actually can get something together for humane prices.

    I started by joining a few friends who were already deeply familiar with the game. I came from Diablo 3 so the first mode I played with them was hardcore league. I played hundreds of hours of hardcore before we finally decided that there were too many cool maps to explore and too many offscreen/instant ways to die

    After 1 month standard has a lot more players than league - more people to trade with.
    I started with standard few years ago and it was correct choice. All was new so i dont need 1 more mechanic (league) to learn.

      It's hard to measure players, but based on trade listings I'd estimate between 1.5x and 2x as many people are playing kalandra atm as compared to standard.

    Playing PoE instead of a Diablo game.
    although to be fair, Sanctum sucked so you'd probably be fine starting on standard or league. Hopefully Crucible is better.
