      Who the hell is celebrating it... every single med student alive says it's a huge challenge to become a doctor... but thats what a competition to become the best of the best is... this isn't kindergarten where everyone can play doctor with no challenges... it's a grueling selection process of talented people

    • @nextthe9651
      @nextthe9651 3 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      @@ausroy087 i think you re saying this because you don't really feel the danger of this or maybe because you are in good condition and you have all what you need, but you should know that one day you'll be sick or you ll be in a hard situation, you ll know that the school system is making life way harder than it should be,
      Also its not a rule that hard work =good result, and im gonna give you an example, one of my friends worked really hard(probably 12-18 hours a day) but he fall sick 9 days just before the exam, and got a really bad mark why? because he couldn't review all that huge material. And people like you are supporting this system by saying you should work hard and give your social life and hobbies and sleep away, and drain your eyes because you are studying so much and not taking care of your wife and children, making the life of people way harder when we can make it much simpler and happpier.
      Hope you you see what i mean

    Not annoying it is good to see a student passionate about a subject. I'm the same way with psychiatry and Neurology! I love anything that has to do with the brain. From its functions to what if this happens what then and how does the brain function and the complexity of it and the mind and why it is the way it is. I'm this way at home my wife has to beat me up lol not really I just like to talk and teach about Neurology. I love this it makes you a better healthcare provider when you have this passion it is almost like it isn't a job because you love it and want to come in every day to do that work. Keep up the great work!!

    Also, would love to hear you briefly talk ab relationships in med school. My bf will be starting soon and I want to be as supportive as I can to him and knowledgeable enough to know what to expect. As a med student, what would you need from a partner? Thank u for always lighting up my Fridays 👸❤️

    • @PaulaKristiana
      @PaulaKristiana 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Not Rachel, but from personal experience. I was studying physiotherapy when I met my boyfriend in his 2/6 years of medschool. We didn’t meet so much at first, and it’s understandable. I was a bit hurt, not going to lie- i wanted to get more attention , but I understood that he needs to study a lot etc (and he is also a guy who doesn’t make drama in his head like women do :D). But nothing is
      better than just talking it out and understanding what each partner needs and wants. Figured out that time we spent together, was time for ourselves and if we were apart and one of us is not answering for a long time, we just understand that the person is studying and will give you attention when there is time. Now I am also studying medicine 2nd year and he is his 4th year . We are also living together, which makes a lot of stuff easier and the pink glasses phase is away. It is so much better like this than it was, when we were not living together.
      Communication is key for a healthy relationship.
      P.S. be prepared for a lot of medicine talks (in friend groups we set 5 minute timers if any med talk starts )

      @@brianyi2995 well since I am not so horny in general, it wasnt an issue. Also when we were not living together, if we visited each other ofc we always had sex, but when we were apart- i think we were too busy to even think about it. Also now we are used to it bcs my boyfriend is from Germany and I am local, so during covid times we have spent weeks apart from eachother- practising long distance relationships

    • @PaulaKristiana
      @PaulaKristiana 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@katherinel3399 i actually started MD as soon as i graduated highschool (in Latvia we have 6 years of medschool) but i was still doing proffesional sports.. so ofcourse it is not possible to do both at the same time- so everything failed🤣 then i studied 2 years PT because I thought sport is so important to me, but when I met my boyfriend who was studying medicine- I got jealous of the cool stuff they learned ( I also worked in the OR as a nurses assistant). And then I decided to apply for MD again and if I got a scholarship I would study and if not I will forget it forever. And i got in :)😊

    • @RachelSouthard
      @RachelSouthard  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Your pancreatic beta cells are gone and therefore don't secrete insulin. So you need an external source of insulin since your body doesn't produce it. Vs Type II DM, they have pancreatic beta cells, but they become poor at doing their job and basically burn out trying to control blood glucose. Tried to simplify it! Hope that makes sense :)

    Just a disclaimer for anyone thinking of buying the glasses: Blue eyed glasses has no supporting evidence for decreasing eye strain or reducing headaches, they may improve your sleep schedule if worn at night but the evidence so far is weak at best - Just want people thinking about getting them to be more informed :)

    Oh also, 10:30 if the shoulder gets stuck the brachial plexus ( which what provides the surplus of nerves to the arms) is in danger of being over extended and rendered faulty if the OB/gyn is not extremely careful!

    I’ve been taking care of my dad post surgery this week. I had my first test of the semester (organic chemistry 2) yesterday. Got 2 hours of sleep Thursday night. Went to bed much earlier than usual last night and finally have a normal sleeping schedule again. 👍🏻
