As I watch the first half of this game, what stands out to me is how Curry actively moves the ball and finds open teammates. He’s never been someone to force shots.
@@stevenb4390yeah this wasn't a good game for him. He was kinda weird in college. Very very good but a lot of it was his team always trusting him. On defense, Curry was really "on the ball," and caused, indirectly, several turnovers just because he was in the right spot. Very aware of his position versus the man he was guarding and moved to prevent his man from "setting up." Helped out a lot. Very impressed with his hustle, poise and evident court sense.

it's amazing how much more authentic this basketball is compared to NBA basketball today. Look at the super tight defense and emphasis on ball movement
That is a moronic and ignorant comment, the type of nonsense that college basketball fans, who mostly ignore the NBA, spout way too often. This game was not about defense but about too many guys with bad hands and zero skills. The NBA game of today DESTROYS this travesty. The NBA of today has much better PURPOSEFUL ball-movement than what was on display in this contest. I happened to watch a game in the NBA with Hansbrough in it in Toronto and I was amazed how much of a drop off there was between his skill level and everyone else's on the court. He clearly did not belong.
He had the effort and drive which can still work in college. Saw him live in ACC tournament in 09 and love guys like him who give it everything while lacking so much. Took my uncle and he was confused why I thought he was so incredible, telling me man he's bad after the game. 😂 I reminded him he led the winning team with 26 points and something like 12 rebounds. Throw the ball at the hoop and out hustle everyone and put it back. I'd take 5 of these guy's in college but obviously not NBA. He was to undersized to be a true big and very limited athleticism to be a spread out big.
Steph then and now: 1. His conditioning was terrible, often really out of gas. He never is now. 2. The scheme wasn't designed to get him the ball. Especially in the first half he barely touched it. Only brought it up for a couple of possessions in the second half. 3. He was obviously way skinnier and that affected his ability to shed defenders on the perimeter. He couldn't push off effectively. 4. He wasn't in constant motion then like he is now. When the ball didn't get to him he'd just hang around hoping. 5. His legs weren't as strong so his shot wasn't falling as consistently. He did a lot of leg and core conditioning after his NBA ankle injuries and that helped his late game shot from three a lot. In college he obviously looked like he was pushing it a lot.
Hansborough had an okay start to his career with the Pacers. Not sure what happened to him, he eventually lost that tenacity he always played with in college.
Curry turned out to be a good NBA player granted the NBA changed the rules to promote perimeter shooting and less contact. College is different he actually had to play both ends nothing he could do with Lawson and Ellington.
