    I love the question: “How would your life be different if you’d been raised Vegan”. Well, I was not only lactose intolerant, I was dairy protein: casein, intolerant. Dairy made me both constipated but also made me throw up. My mother was determined I was going to drink milk and keep it down and no matter how many times I threw it up, there was another 16 ounce glass of whole-fat milk, waiting for me, now warm on the table.
    As I said, milk constipated me. But it is the reason why many children suffer constipation, that and we ate white bread, and there were no salads, there was little fresh fruit and my mother’s idea of vegetables was open a can. The only exception to this was she’d make mashed potato from raw potatoes, and she’d cook carrots. She’d fry parsnips and they made me sick. Whatever she fried, was fried in bacon fat which was not refrigerated. Her pie crust was made from bacon fat. Needless to say, there were many reasons why I was sick.
    I also developed a condition called Hyperhidrosis, which means you sweat as much as a basketball player only without exercise. It was humiliating. Because of all the dairy and meat and cheese, I did absorb a lot of fat so I was fat. Whereas my brother and sister where older than me, though they were 2.5 years apart from each other, they were the same size. Being 5 years younger than my sister, my mother gave me a plate of equal portions to what my sister and brother ate. Then if I could not finish it, I’d have to sit until bedtime eating warm food to eat it all. Along with my now room temperature milk. I had loads of ear infection and tonsillitis and strep throat, all could be attributed to dairy.
    As an adult, until I went vegan as the brainwashing was apparent, I continued to eat as I was taught, continued constipation. Finally in my 30s and 40s, I began to develop arthritis. Although exercise helped keep my weight down, when menopause set in, horrific other things happen. Arthritis became so bad I was often in a wheelchair and the doctors were no help, ibuprofen did not touch the pain. And hot flashes were horrific, and I’d turn to food for comfort, gaining up to 200 lbs.
    Just before going vegan my hands were so bad with arthritis that my signature no longer looked like mine. I worked as a graphic artist and just typing was terrible. I did not have carpel tunnel but my wrists hurt because the dairy protein, casein, was being deposited in my joints. My mother had developed gout and my arthritis was likely gouty arthritis.
    I dawned on me how horrific my life was because of dairy, which just seemed “normal” to me, and I’d been having yogurt for lunch out of convenience as making a sandwich was harder on my hands. I got laid off due to my frequent bouts of arthritis and began working from home. And being home, I ate grilled cheese and omelets with cheese, weight went up and I was in more pain.
    I got totally disgusted at 62 when I was laid off and went cold turkey on all dairy. Within one month I was out of the wheelchair and my hands were able to lift a frying pan. I began researching veganism as I became intrigued as what diet could do to help my pain. I was not focused on veganism but the more I learned what it could do, by watching primarily TH-cam videos, I became vegan by choosing to eat the meals which I’d make which were already vegan like homemade baked beans and then eggplant. Eventually I learned to cook everything vegan.
    Although veganism was better I had not learned about SOS (no Sugar, Oil, or Salt), I was not losing weight and then I had gallbladder disease and it was removed. I felt better, began walking. The hot flashes were greatly decreased and diminished to none during the winter. Going on 10 years later, I still get some hot flashes limited to 1 or 3 in the waking hours and one when I sleep in the summer months only. In the winter, I never get them.
    My hyperhidrosis was cured and my weight has come down 60 libs. Though some went back on during Covid.
    My husband also is vegan now as he went vegan after his prostate cancer to keep the cancer from coming back. He only eats what I cook but has had no interest in learning the science behind why veganism works so it is like having a child sometimes.
    He is vegan but a junk food vegan but he is still doing better and his blood pressure is better. I found mine going up too as I do salt my food, so I use Morton’s Lite Salt most of the time for myself and have added Magnesium twic a day and am eating more kale. BP is mostly under 120/70. Neither of us are diabetic.
    Whereas my mother and sister had breast cancer, I’ve had no cancer but I also nursed our 3 sons for about 2-1/3 years each. This also means less cancer but I was eating the Standard American Diet too. Even so the Whole Food Plant-Based diet is so powerful, I rarely get sick with a cold or flu.
    I’ve really become a good vegan cook. The only challenge is if we have to eat out in a city we do not know, we have a challenge figuring out what to eat. My husband does eat fish on occasion, it tastes like a dead body to me so I don’t eat fish and rarely eat eggs like one or two per year and that is in breading eggplant. We don’t eat it very often.
    People never think I am 62. I have kept the wheelchair just in case I get an injury but it reminds me of how far I’ve come. I have even had two broken bones, but the doctor’s advice on how to heal them with taking calcium, did nothing. I found kale healed my bones so my husband grows it for me in the backyard. I steam it and eat it in salads or eat the steamed greens cold and pop a stuffed green olive in my mouth. I do eat nuts, though not a lot, and do eat soy frequently.
    I would not consider going back to the Standard American diet.

      ... Time-Iapse pig carcasses. 5-10 days in your stomach puutrefying 🤮. Deodorant mask the symptoms but you still smell bad in your feet and shoes and socks 🔴🍖🦠🧟‍♂️🥾🦶🧦, 🧟‍♂️💩🚽🤮🤮🤮. No Fibre. PH 4, hard arteries.. th-cam.com/video/VvSZTmWRvXY/w-d-xo.html ..
      Vegans they don’t smell, because lots of fibre if you eat plants and fruit and nuts and berries and tubers and lentiIs beans and potatoes etc. Lots of fibre !! PH 7-10. Smooth arteries. ToiIet ✅❤️💩🚽😉 neutral. And you get bigger and stronger and fitter when you go plant based. No fat deposits because fat deposits is animals and cheese and fish etc. Herbivores like gorillas and bonobos and Orangutans, no plaque because plaque is eating corpses 🧟‍♂️🦠🍖🔴... Hard arteries. No fibre !! We are herbivores. Like bonobos and orangutans and gorillas. Ape family. They are herbivores like humans. We act like ‘Omnivores’, and get heart attack and cancer and high blood pressure and strokes no fibre and fat deposits clog your arteries !!!! 51% death rate !!!! Vegans have 4% cancer. And Gorillas they have 1% cancer in the wild 😜. And they don’t eat meat, and they are huge, 97.6% the same as us !!! Fibre is plants and fruit and nuts and berries and sweet potato 🍠 and lentils and beans and rice and oats etc. Peer reviewed scientific fact !! Yeast is B12. Teaspoon 500% !!!!! And it’s natural, 🦠 (hint hint🥖🍞B12). Or marmite teaspoonful 480% !!!!! Duckweed B12 500% teaspoon !!!. Nori sheets B12 46% 1 piece.. !!!!

      How much our parents hurt us? I feel you. We were eating a lot of fresh fruit and vegetables, maybe bc I didn’t grow up in the US and it was part of the culture. But I was fed a lot of dairy, meats and organs. Dairy made me sick but my mother couldn’t understand. The idea of dairy and meat is necessary was so engrained in me that I began veganism just a few months ago at the age of 37!

    Ethical to the Core !!
    Can you imagine living in a world where everyone shared the same values as Erin.
    I wish someone had told me about The egg and dairy industries,I found out about the cruelty by accident and immediately became vegan ,how could you not.
    I really enjoyed the interview, Erin is so authentic she makes me proud to be vegan.
    If you know about Animal Agriculture and the cruelty and suffering it is causing animals as well as the damage to the environment please share what you know with everyone you can,many people still don't know,when we know these things we have a responsibility to let other people know,we can't control what they will do with the knowledge but at least you will have done your part in letting others know.
    Now is not the time to be quiet,animals are suffering, our planet is in trouble,please speak up.
    Thank you Vegan Linked for another very interesting compassionate interview.

    What a lovely lady. One thing I disagree with her on - junk food. We are representatives of our lifestyle and conviction and non vegans love to hear about vegans being unwell. We should really watch our diets, it doesn’t give them ammunition then to justify eating animal products. Additionally, medicines are tested on animals and some have animal products, so it makes sense to follow healthy diet to not need them. I am 64 and vegan and learnt this hard way. Landed in a hospital, it was scary, but luckily came out of it ok. Who knows how many animals had to suffer so I could get well again. All of it for my unhealthy eating habits.

    • @VeganLinked

      Totally with you. I think most people get this by now,, i hope anyways... You can do this. I try. She doesn't need to. Sure she may be more powerful if she was strict whole foods. But she's already more powerful than most people I know, we can't expect her or anyone to perfect. I show a lot of health oriented peopleand information, I got ya covered over here. :) no shortage of people saying eating a variety of whole plant foods. A LOT of people don't care about being so healthy, we want to connect to everyone's hearts.

    • @annaal7480
      @annaal7480 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@VeganLinked One cannot be “so healthy”, only healthy or not, and no one in this world is perfect. I wrote it because young people think they are invincible and don’t think about direct impact of junk food on them or indirect impact they create for animals. I am vegan for animals and nowhere close to fanatical about food and don’t follow any diet (“wholefood plant based diet” is nothing new and existed since the beginning of the 20th century), just try my best to eat well. I fail in it from time to time but pull myself together quickly. I saw your videos about people eating health diets exclusively for themselves. I don’t care about them but realise we need them to lessen animal suffering. Anyway, you do a good job with your channel and hope will take a good care of yourself, if not for yourself then for your viewers who need your input here.

    Going through a rough time with Sergei Boutenko and his girlfriend for criticizing their return to eating cooked food and meat. Victoria Boutenko is almost dead and has returned to Russia after dry fasting 12 days in Ukraine. Olga Rykoba was her teacher and Sergei was the translator. I never imagined that family giving up the benefits of veganism, but now I am being told to Live and Let Live......

      Failure is inevitable with success. They just need to learn more and try again. You don't go from not being vegan to instantly know the healthiest and best way to implement it without learning, healthfully acclimating, and developing enough support without work. All good things take some work initially before the are second nature and come with ease ❤

    • @karenishness1
      @karenishness1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@VeganLinked I guess you don't know the history. Victoria came to USA from Russia in the 80's to explain perestroika to Detroit Community College. The entire family was dying of serious diseases. They all went raw vegan back in the 90's. The family walked from Mexico to Canada on the Pacific Crest Trail. They wrote several books and videos about raw veganism, the health benefits and reversal of fatal diseases. They had thousands of followers and lectures and retreats worldwide. It is a complete turnaround with Victoria and Sergei. God only knows what happened to do this, but things were great with Ukraine while she was vegan and her son is playing war games in Oregon. For someone sent as an emissary for peace to the US from Russia, I'd say whatever they need to learn needs to be done PDQ.

    Veganism is the logical extension of rights to non-human animals that we grant the human animal. Intrinsically there's no morally relevant difference between the two that makes it okay to harm and exploit one species but not the other. That's what I tell people and elaborate from there. 😉
