Honestly? I'd rather get distracted by the title. Shows you're actually thinking about it. Six books in five minutes is certainly an exaggeration but 200 books a year or whatever Ruby's read doesn't seem productive. Also, her book reviews and comments sometimes seem shallow or like she's misunderstood the book idk. I'd rather spend a few minutes thinking about the title than rush through 200 books, fifty of which are children's books !!
@@theavodkado Whoa there. Reading slow is fine, but so is reading fast. No need to become so judgmental. Besides, people read books for all kinds of reason- children‘s books are often read out of nostalgia, or to remember the things that used to make you happy in your childhood. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. You could have literally just said „Reading slow and thinking intently about things is cool too“ and instead you had to go and tear down the way Ruby reads. Not cool.
11:48 I keep replaying what Ruby says here, it’s wonderfully reflective and poetic. 12:56 “ *_I think the trick to romanticising your own life and appreciating every moment is trying to be present in everything_* ” 🙌🏼 ♥
Hey Ruby, just FYI when you use your jade roller its best to only roll up and out, and not roll downwards on your face. This encourages your face to keep its elasticity, move blood around and combat the effects of gravity. This is also made easier if you use an oil or oilier moisturizer to lubricate the whole process and pull your skin less ❤️
the piece about presence was really the one that touched my soul very deeply... sometimes I (actually, most of us) just forget how much simple things and thoughts mean, especially when on the verge of falling into the darkest places. thank you so much. this made me stop and smile for a moment 💚
I can't remember the last time I felt excited to start the day and in a good mood and happy about how things were going. One can only hope your optimism will rub off Ruby.
Ruby , I have been watching you since i had been through really hard times. You helped me get through it by not even being conscious i existed. You honestly saved my life ! Stay safe and well. x
I appreciate how you relate the topic of census to what you've been reading and to the history of conducting census in the UK. You brought ads in videos to a new level.
I think it's a matter of respect and being polite. The teacher has his camera and is showing his face and his room and everything. The minimum you can do is to turn on your camera too!!
My Anglo American prof said, that she doesn‘t teach our laptops instead of us. It will be funny with my grammar skills in this course (I am from Germany).
You are my BIGGEST source of academic inspiration and are such a wonderful role model. Your videos are so relaxing and wholesome. I was so excited to see a new upload from you today 😭❤️
Your room looks so cosy after the little "makeover". And more space for exercise, yay! Yes, walks work wonders for a new perspective! Also, I now have serious literary jumper envy.
I live in Northern Ireland and many of our censuses were destroyed. I wish we still had them because they're so useful for tracking family history, it's left me with so many gaps :(
Trust me when I say this i always look forward to seeing you pour a cup of tea for yourself on your instagram story, i don't know what is up with me. Like it is one of the highlights of my day
" I am 12 years old and my dream is to study English literature in the university of oxford" sound familiar? It's my dream too. Ruby iv been with you from the start, keep going I love you💕
I'm always inspired by your videos, but this one struck me in particular! I, too, can relate to the "lots of sitting to do work" these days and have felt so disconnected from daily moments I used to cherish. Learning to stay present has become a priority, so you struck a chord there during your morning walk clips! I think I'll take a morning walk tomorrow, too, and do a yoga flow after this video ends. Thank you for sharing your beautiful words of inspiration and encouragement!
Can we just talk about how aesthetic and motivational Ruby's videos are? I wasn't in the mood to be productive recently, but just watching her videos makes me want to be productive.. Is there anyone else how has gone through what I have gone through?
If you sometimes get back pain from sitting so much, I'd really recommend a proper office chair and/or a desk you can change from sitting to standing. It made all the difference for me! And as soon as it gets a little warmer, it's really really nice to do your morning yoga outside. :)
The life writing module looks super interesting, plus I think you could really relate to it because of how you chronicle your life and share it with all of us on youtube.
My most favourite module was on Greek Myths i was so sad when it ended :( The post mod depression was so bad. My second favourite was on Archaeology. Both modules had the best professors, who made learning so much fun. I miss those good old days.
The best tip I can give you is to try and find something you actually enjoy. I absolutely despise at home workouts where you just keep repeating sit ups and push ups and burpees and what not, but I love doing some yoga in the mornings and evenings and going on a run every once in a while. I'm also trying to learn how to skateboard which is exercise as well! And remember that dancing around in your room counts too ;)
@@katie.eq1434 That was me, too. It's hard! But so what if they judge? Would you really rather let their judgment get in the way of something you could otherwise enjoy? Joining club sports teams really helped me. It's exercise, but you're part of a team, and the focus is on the game and not your body or your individual athleticism.
@@katie.eq1434 same... I wasn't big but clumsy so, bullies loved me. I recommend you to do some "fake" exercise like dance or walk or take the stairs... You can do it at home and it helps to move yourself and have fun! I put on a playlist I made with the name "Happy" and do chores almost dancing. Find your own unique way 😉
School excels at destroying any motivation. What worked for me was courses included in my gym membership. Well, worked as long as I could make the time, and for the last year, you can guess. Trying to get back into a yoga routine, just this time without a teacher.

I would honestly love it if you included more of your personal thoughts and ideas about what you’re studying, and use TH-cam as sort of a log of your personal ideas about literature and writing while also educating viewers on what you learned
Exercise is such an awesome way to recover from mental fatigue of school and work load. It's so easy to neglect this but it does wonders to our productivity! Inspiring video :)

I like what you said about being present in the moment. I realized I don't do that often enough. Thanks! By the way, I was impressed with your handstand while holding yourself up, good for you! 😃
I laugh so hard when you brought up Malthus! XD Not because it's funny or his theory is wrong, but because my mother, who's an economist and studied his theories at university, has always spoken about him and his work to me and my sisters since when we were little :) It was like a "oh, someone else is familiar with him!" moment.
