Thank you! I'm forever battling weeds around our hvac unit & generally around the perimeter of the house. I already have this tool & can't wait to use it.
This is the best video I have ever seen. My yard is mainly butterfly gardens, and it takes F-O-R-E-V-E-R to weed the beds. I'm going to go buy one today! Thank you for saving my back!
Takes some muscle power, and the condition of the soil matters in the overall effort. This is a big, strong guy, but as a 78 year old lady, avid gardener, like me, might have trouble wielding this weed killer. This is a narrow bed, so my idea of cardboard as a weed barrier might not work. But, in most of my beds, in between perennials, and especially in areas like between the foundation of the house and the beginning of hedges or beds, cardboard has worked beautifully. Free and available, it is relatively easy to put down, with a little cutting and tearing. The expensive, time consuming and hard work comes in covering the cardboard with mulch. But, that shrinks in comparison to the finished effect.
I cant scrape with it. The o ly motion i am able to do is slightlydig at the weeds, which takes forever. The weeds I'm dealing with are thick as hell and compact and the dirt is very hard so scraping doesnt work, my arms aren't strong enough 😂 Nice tutorial video, wish I had your strength, lol!
Very interesting tool. I would like to ask, is it like "shaving" the weeds? The dandelions have deep roots, if I don't pull them out and just shave the top, it's coming back in two days.
I like your video very much! Your video is awesome! Learn from you! Thank you for your hard work! Thanks for sharing! I wish you happiness every day! God bless you!
Let me start by saying I know nothing about lawn care but have a new found passion getting the weeds out - I find it very therapeutic, hence me watching this video because I’m ready to level up with tools 🤣🤣
@@anitanapier8591 a bastard file has a rough side and a fine side. use rough side to loosen heavy rust build up and the fine side to smooth and sharpen
Heavy turf will very hard to do with this tool. But I all depends on how think the grass is. It it’s very thick and thatchy it will need to be dug out with a flat spade or rent a sod cutter.
It can be found at many hardware stores or you can order online from many different vendors. Here’s one source: www.amleo.com/leonard-4-inch-stirrup-hoe/p/AS400
Any weed you cut the root of will only agitate the rest of the root system that is in the ground and make the weed grow back that much faster. Especially after loosing the soil around it with that thing. The best method I found depending on condition of your lawn is either bull doze the entire lawn and just put new lawn - that is for worst case if you have been overtaken completely by weeds OR just use some sort of weed and feed turf builder seasonally to strengthen your lawn.
That’s only true with certain weeds like dandelions. I’ve found the tool does a nice job removing many weeds with their roots. Especially effective on weedy clumping grasses like crabgrass and many cool season weeds. The tool is also effective when the weeds are very small with immature root systems. So it can be used in gardens for preventative weed control as well.
Depends on the type of weed. If it’s a weed with a tap root, you’re better off digging it out with a tool like a soil knife, which I feature in another video.

Excellent!

Thank you for this suggestion btw. As a landscape business operator, I found a used version of this that actually works very well.

Thanks for the help I was able to do it I didn't wanna pull every single weed out myself all day

The dog was eager to help!
That is my favourite garden tool so quick and fast
It’s a great tool!!
It’s been a minute but I always circle back dude that’s amazing tool definitely my next. Purchase. Unless I break my shovel
In case anyone is wondering, won’t work in a yard or lawn. Really only suited for a mulched area as in the video.
Yes it does work in a yard
Very interesting tool.

Good question!
In my experience it's easy to get em from the root with one of these. Worth the buy 100%
The Skidger would be much easier, especially for an elderly person. I use mine one handed. It's basically a razor blade on a long handle.

How sad. I used that during my community service and I absolutely loved it lol
Haha me too

At least you learned something and cleaned up the community ❤❤❤.
I have had one of these for several years. I would like to sharpen it but where it is rounded it’s hard to do.
use a bastard file
What is that?
@@anitanapier8591 a bastard file has a rough side and a fine side. use rough side to loosen heavy rust build up and the fine side to smooth and sharpen
Excellent video and demonstration.
Many thanks!
Great tips for the tool. However i got a question. Should I leave the weed on the bed after I weed them all?
If the weed has not flowered and gone to seed it should be fine to leave to break down.
Putting gravel down in an area like that can help minimize ongoing weed problems. Fyi 😊
can you teach us how to sharpen it too? Thanks
Thank for sharing I enjoyed ur videos 👍🌟
Glad to see u friend and stay safe 😊
where to buy, sis, there's an online shop
Thank you. Getting one
Good choice!
Any tips on how to clear the path once you’ve done the weeding? Did you just use a brush?
Rake
Thank you so much!! Exactly what I was looking for 😍😍😍
You're so welcome!
why not wet the soil first, so the dust wont bother you and it is easy to weed out wet soil. I like your video, just broke my back with gardening.
Things get muddy and the mud will inhibit the blade.
Whoa there Brian going a little too fast , thought you were a Mexican 😂
😂
Thanks for the demonstration, looks great!
You bet!
Like it so much, bought me one. Thank you
How well do they work on desert landscaping? I've got weeds coming up through the gravel covered surface.
Gravel will be tough. Never tried it.
Ever try it? I live in New Mexico. Got one recently and seems pretty effective on pea sized gravel. Not sure if anything larger works
Ok but I live in Vegas and we have lots of decorativd rocks with grassy weeds sprouting everywhere. Any helpful advice?
Maybe a weed torch would work in a rocky garden.
Beautiful share my friend! Nice video! Amazing tool!
My like #5!
Have a nice day to you!
How is this compared to Xtreme weeder? Is this one better?
I’m not familiar with that one.
If it just cuts the weed's roots, they will certainly just grow back
Is the hula hoe useful for removing grass, if not what tools are used to remove grass weeds
It will remove grass in beds, but for removing turf grass, you’d be better off using a flat spade.
Good job
What is the name of the tool as I can't access the link from UK
I sharpen mine.
How will it work on beds that have grown heavy grass?
Heavy turf will very hard to do with this tool. But I all depends on how think the grass is. It it’s very thick and thatchy it will need to be dug out with a flat spade or rent a sod cutter.
Does it work on crabgrass?
Yes
Does it need sharpening?
I’ve never sharpened mine. But I’m sure you can if needed.
That was really good to see💌♥️
Where do you get the tool.
It can be found at many hardware stores or you can order online from many different vendors. Here’s one source:

Does this pulls roots out?
With some plants with shallow roots like grasses it does.
Great video! Trying to clean out our flower beds now.
Thanks! Great to have you on the channel!
Do you think it is easier to use or more effective than an old fashion garden hoe?
Each tool has their on roles. But I like this how better for most weeding. It also does less tillage to the soil structure
Where can I buy this tool
If you’re in the states, Lowe’s and Home Depot are good sources. Also many local hardware stores will stock them and there’s also online sources.
What's the name of the tool?
Skuffle hoe & stirrup hoe are the two most commons names I hear it called.
cool video, thanks.
"This item is no longer sold by Lowes."
Interesting. It is sold by many other retailers and online. There’s several different makers of this kind of hoe as well.
I named mine Emma
Says no longer available @ lowes ☹️
I just bought one at Lowes 2 weeks ago . Look up craftsman action ho
20 minutes later the sidewalk was clean
that looks like it's only work on loose dirt and not on a lawn

This isn’t a lawn area. It’s a garden bed that was mulched after doing the weeding. The bed has done well with minimal weed pressure after mulching.
But this tool doesn't remove the roots. In another words in a few days you will have the weeds again.😮

Hello my friend , i greet you ⁛
Thank you for sharing , like:-5
Take care of yourself !Have a nice weekend, .:-)please come back my home ..
Where can I buy this item and what brand
Doesn't get to the deep roots. My weeds will just come back next year
Depends on the type of weed. If it’s a weed with a tap root, you’re better off digging it out with a tool like a soil knife, which I feature in another video.
This tool sucks! It does not get the roots so you’re constantly weeding! Trumpet vine will beat this tool every time!
