    The mesh wastebasket will allow rain or irrigation to pass through and will allow those critical pollinators to get to the flowers! Good call.

    How about an explanation as to why the mulch will kill the trees eventually?

    • @MourningDove-bn4dk
      @MourningDove-bn4dk 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Don't bury over the crown of most plants. If that area is constantly wet, your plant will become more susceptible to diseases more easier. When your tree is not right, it will also more easily attract pests that will hurt it. Also, some plants might survive having their crown buried, but they will grow slower than normal. Slower growth makes them weak, weak means disease, pest, and growth problems. With trees, you can see why that is a problem when they start to get bigger.

    This is what I use in my chicken yard. After I had french drains installed to run through it, the ground was tore up and just plain dirt. I covered it with Douglas fir chips to help keep my chickens feet from getting muddy. It worked, but come summer time, I needed to rake some of it away to keep the hens cool. I noticed lots of fleas in the chips. How can you combat parasites in the wood chips. I ended up ordering elector psp to spray the chips ..

    That last sentence is kind of important. Countless videos on the Nitrogen issue. I thought the wood would decompose into the soil and steal the nitrogen. I had like 8 tree stumps ground up so I have a decent amount of wood chips, but it's all mixed with soil and roots and branches. I just left it in a heap in very back of yard by a fence. I did some serious labor raking and shoveling out the wood parts as best I could, from the areas I wanted to grass, to get it to the back into that heap. I am curious how long it will take for the heaps to become soil. I thought I would need to add greens and food scraps and turn it. If decomposes naturally, that would be great.

    I had pork chops and chicken breasts on mine this week. Really like this model but.... Make sure you cover it. Mine is just a couple years old and exposure to rain allowed the ledge holding the ash tray to rust out. My oversight. I will most likely buy another one, and a cover this time. All the vents allow you to really keep the temp steady. The adjustable coal bed is pretty effective
