I loved this story. It really stands out from among the regular run of "park monsters" in so many stories. The premise is brilliant, and very thought provoking. Why indeed, do humans have a discomfort with things that look almost human, but are not? The idea that our ancestors developed an instinctual discomfort in order to protect themselves against a kind of mimic predator is outstanding! It would also help to explain why humans are so isolationist---distrusting anyone not of their "tribe". It only makes good sense to distrust a stranger, since they could not tell if the stranger was one of these predators. Fantastic idea, great story!
