Pretty disappointing video if the intention of the video was to educate on selecting the most appropriate wheel depth for your usage case. Instead its just a review of Roval's ad copy with a conclusion that both wheels are great...
No there not value for money at all. You could get 2sets of parcours the strada and the ronde for the price these and have both a deep dish and “shallow” set of wheels, ronde are still 40mm though
I have Alpinist CLX II and it is best wheels over all riding and it draft very well and DH performance is great! The different is Rapide CLX II you can be the windbreaker because you can go 2-3mph faster. When I save enough money I will get a set of Rapide CLX for group draft rides.
I've honestly never seen the point of deep wheels as an engineer to be honest... Now light wheels on the other hand, yes please! I do love a playful bike!
@@user-cx2bk6pm2f to be honest, many bad products are made by good engineers who are just forced to make what the marketing/finance peoole want them to make for maximum profits unfortunately..
@@hananas2 Very true. But not a good look when you posit yourself as an engineer then say you have no idea why deep wheels exist, a mature proven technology. Is there an areo advantage? just because there deep doesn’t make them great areo performers there probably 5 watts in it! and if silca are to be believed I could make that up with a 20 quid pair of socks. And I argue the bearings make up the biggest difference in rolling speed along with latex tubes.
I have a pair of the CLX (I) and they are my favorite wheels so far. They help me maintain a good speed, especially on straights. I’m sure the CL as well. There’s a tad difference with the weight and spokes but that’s about it.
We're big fans of either the new Specialized Turbo T5/T8 or Vittoria Corsa G2.0, you can find lots more tyre reviews over on the road.cc website :) 25mm is still our go to for racing, 28mm for good condition training
Wow them new wheels sound purty fancy and them there Alpinist are sweet but, their not made in America so I choose Zipp 303 firecrest and since I ride an S-Works Atheos, the extra 100 grams just doesn't count.
Disappointing video. Looks like an ad rather than a review. As for the rims, the deep ones look nice but the shallow are more playful and add to the bile agility. The alpinist had an issue with spoke rubs making annoying noise while riding. Was this dealt with? Am sorry that most of the journalists are adopting the gcn way and it neither educational or funny
Totally not sponsored
I'm not convinced of that
Yup… totally not sponsored…
I have the clx 2 and I am absolutely satisfied! Normally the set costs 2700 € but I got it in discount for 1940 €.

yeah for the price some hunt, zipp, or even chinese like winspace, are way better options, than these over 2k or close to it, wheels from specialized
Sounds

Roval overall makes great wheels for the $$, comparatively to the open market
You can say alot about roval wheels, but calling them „great“ value for money certainly isn’t it

Standard in tech reviews now…
Sponsored or not Roval makes great wheels. And for about I will take the deeper profile anyday for the Aero Advantage and Aestetics

One of the presenters remembers the MVDP rider. 😅

Zipp hubs are terrible... lots of failures, then you can't find new bearings because they are proprietary. American made like that?
Pourquoi il n'y a pas la transcription en français
Those alpinist are in my short list, But not sure if the clx or the cl model, is just 100 grams of difference, but the price jump is 1000 dollars
I would just go with the CL. Like you said 100 grams for 1k difference is personally too much for me.
The hubs are different too. It snot just weight
Latex tubes 🙌

The modern bike industry is full of marketing tricks to make you buy things you don't need.
non of them of course because i cant afford it.
I guess they have to pay the bills someway...
Waste of hard earned money
literally didn't tell me anything
Don’t waste your money get Hunt wheels instead
