Still no carbon spokes like we saw on remcos bike at the tour... but a lot of nice add ons to these TEAM edition wheels. If you have any questions about these wheels I would be happy to help you out :)
Carbon is a terrible material to use for spokes, for a few reasons: - Measuring tension accurately isn't easy or practical. - They may handle tension well, but torsion and impact, not so much. Weight saving is marginal and longevity is very poor compared to steel.
When wheels like the CRWs, 9 Velos, Farsports, Light Bicycle, new Elites with the double-sided ratchet, etc, etc, etc exist... there is absolutely ZERO reason to be spending $3,800 on a wheelset. It's over.
It's not over. Specialized has no problem selling these wheels. If you think people who buy cheaper wheels are the same kind of people who buy these, you are just wrong. Plenty of other more expensive wheels exist without having all these extra sinc bearings and free hubs. Take a look at Scope wheels. Also many people prefer other name brand cheaper options than LB and Farsports for whatever reason.
Its like buying a cyber truck. Its not necessary but definitely a flex. For mere mortals like myself, I would be cringing to buy a $1800 complete bike...let alone a $3800 wheelset.
they will sell, it is a upgrade for the average buyer who wants the name brand or trying for a build, there is still high end demand for these products and people like the crash replacement and warranty
Looks like they made them as light as CLX I. They do look great, if NSW and Princeton’s costs 4k, why not Rovals to cost 4k plus you get an extra set of bearings. I would predict panda podium will be a very successful company as long as US companies make stupid price wheels….

@@cup_and_conehe is saying that’s a big box with a lot of room for other stuff… not that they are within Miami drug dealers price range. Hi, happy to explain the joke whenever I can! Enjoy your Friday!
Nice presentation, but how many people will see that box since they are probably buying these from the shop and asking the shop to mount the tires and put them on the bike? I hope you sell a lot of these to the Specialized SWorks fashion conscious crowd, I'll be with the poors on my CRW Works.
Overpriced and no carbon spokes but… most people I ride with have NEVER heard of CRW, Farsports, PandaPodium etc… we are in a niche you guys. Most riders only know the big brands and they won’t realize there are better deals out there and go for the well-known brands ridden by the Pros. So these will sell
I like how resolute Specialized are on hookless, from their literature: "We know that hookless wheels don’t perform under our demanding high-pressure testing standards."
You’ve got the inertia thing mixed up. What matters is how much the weight is removed from the centre of the wheel. It has nothing to do with the distance to the bottom bracket ;-) solid video though !
I meant the bb is the middle off the bike, and the hweels are on the outside, the weight is removed from the outside of the rim, which is huge, why would weight being removed from the center of hub matter more then outter most part, thats the part it takes the most to spool up, is it harder to roll a 50lb ball? or harderr to have a 50lb weight on a string and wind it around
At least your box arrived undamaged. The one at my local shop was all beat up, which sadly ruined the nice presentation. First person with some play money is going to buy this, just for the rare factor alone.
Roval still don't believe in interlacing the spokes on their wheels? This is obviously done intentionally on their part but it makes no sense. When spokes are interlaced where they cross at the intersection closest to the rim, they brace against each other. This makes the entire wheel structure more stable and makes for a laterally stiffer, more robust and durable wheel.
I was really looking forward to those, but since they kept the shitty 21mm internal rim width I'll be sticking to my Elitewheels Edge Gravel 45 for road use atm (best value and comfiest option overall atm)
yea I found it weird that they have used the same rim modl size and shape for so long, for a company who lives by "innovate or die" I would expect a little more
Those wheels with the polished silver hubs and valves stems would be right at home on a, I dont know, a 2024 gloss white Specialized Tarmac SL8 w/chrome silver decals but Im not too sure who would have one of those laying around.
GC Performance, can you please do a brutal strength force test on the destroyed specialized but this time with the carbon saddle post please? How durable is a carbon saddle seat tube compared to the top tube you destroyed? We need to test this for science.
they are being sold no matter what there is still a demand and this wheel will take over the older style rapides and people stil love those believe it or now
Seems like this allows wealthy consumers to 'subsidize'. Essentially price discrimination, which can have some benefits, though admittedly Specialized is running to the bank (and their marketing budget) with the extra profits, not reinvesting in improving products for the rest of us.
@GCPerformance18 yea, more and more you see minimums of safety on tubeless even for hooked. 28 on a hooked is my minimum and even that I am not a fan of. I have been running Pirelli P Zero Race TLRs 30s and they are very good, but have 32 and 35s on other road bikes and have been very happy.
@@NathanDMeyer Well I prefer something a little wider, 30 or above, but more of the safety concerns is due to pressure on the small tire width. Pirelli says not to run tubeless less than 28 on hookless, and while these rims are hooked...I still would not run a 28. The benefit of the wide tire is the ability to get more contact on the imperfect roads at lower pressures. I have several bikes and 28 is the most narrow, and that is only because it is an old bike and a 30 wont fit between the rim brakes. Other wise, I have been very happy on the 32 and even the 35's I am running. Plenty of speed, better grip and handling.
2:41 not even that, 28mm Conti GP5000 would still be way faster, even this same tire in 28mm would be faster, there were tests on a perfect tarmac, that proves that. And that humongous valve is pure trolling on their side
