That turned out great Pam .. its funny I've got some pine cones ready to do something with and also a red mallee burl waiting on a shelf ... you keep beating me to it !!
Just stumbled across your channel and now a subscriber... That blank turned out amazing... I finding the red bottle T-Cut in the UK works a treat for a mirror finish on CA...
Welcome Heath and thank you for your comment. My dad loves t cut for his blanks i really must try it as he wont look past it. Thank you again and another new pen casting coming very soon :-)
That looks amazing Pam. I did wonder when you first mixed it if you had done too much colour and there would be no chance of seeing into the resin. Well done!
Looks great, thank you for sharing the video. Now that you wen through the whole process, if you were to do it again, would you do it the same way or would you stabilize the pine cones first?
Steven Lee Thanks Steve I did a batch of stabilised ones after this ones to see if it made any difference and I didn't think it did so from now on I will dry cones in oven and then cast only. Hope this helps pam :-)
Turned out beautiful! :) when you fill the pockets with CA did you use thin? I found a medium or even a thick CA works pretty quickly to fill those areas...anyway beautiful pen! Cheers
Hi David yes i did stabilise some and in all honesty i found no difference at all, so i now just dry in an oven overnight and then cast in resin. Thank you, Pam :-)
I'm new to casting, I've tried sea shells and clued some small shark teeth to a Gatsby pen blank and then put in a mold. No pressure pot for casting yet. But the pens turned out pretty good. Keep it up, love learning from you
A beautiful result Pam, I always like resin with organic inclusions. No matter how you mix different coloured resins its never as good as the results mother nature can provide. All the best Tony
Very nice blanks and the end product is gorgeous - thanks for sharing
Thank you Phil :-)
Beautiful job! That pen came out wonderful with the pine cones in it! Thank you for sharing Beth!
Thank you im glad you enjoyed :-)
I'll never look at pine cones all over the ground with the usual distainful attitude again! Brilliant☺
lol Thank you Stephen. Must say when out walking i tend to look at the ground thinking can i cast that in resin lol. Have a great day pam :-)

Wow! Very unique looking, love it.
Thank you Elaine :-)
Stunning! It almost looks like an alien creature in the resin. It really is beautiful and a great choice of colors.
Thank you Ellis :-)
Great looking blank. Did the finish stay smooth or ripple - i find this frequently happens.
That turned out really well.
Thank you :-)

Great video Pam!

Hey Michael Thank you very much :-) Yeh i think i did use thin on this one i made a pen a couple of days ago and used thick and it was better. :-)
Beautiful pen from a beautiful blank. Did you ever try stabilizing the pinecones?
Hi David yes i did stabilise some and in all honesty i found no difference at all, so i now just dry in an oven overnight and then cast in resin. Thank you, Pam :-)
Thanks for the insight.
Very nice Pam try Chestnut Burnishing cream as a polish. I have always had great results on Polyester resin.
Hey thanks for that will see if i can get hold of some. Thank you :-)
Great video, feel inspired to try this. One question...why are the blanks cast so big when the final blank is a fraction of the original size?
I cast 4 blanks in one mould and cut them up in to individual ones. Glad you enjoyed Pam :-)
Lovely project. I'm gonna try right away!
Did you have a go Bill? Many thanks :-)
