I think we need to make sure the if your turning the winch handle from in the cockpit you don't hit solar arch especially if your right handed. It look like you tested from sitting on the cabin

On the solar upright, make a 22.5 degree cut through each leg, then rotate the lower part 180 degrees and weld it back on. You now have a 45 degree bend without having to buy an elbow...🤑
Well done on another great vid. You are both crazy-brave tackling this project, each step is interesting. On those thru-hulls you glassed over; job well done. I couldn’t believe that earlier owners had put multiple thru-hulls so close together!
Hola amigos! Saludos from Yucatán! Just one safety related comment. Stu, using the cutting disc without the guard is pretty dangerous. Discs do shatter, not often but if they do, the pieces can fly off in the wrong direction and cause very serious injuries. The guards are a real pain to use but it’s highly recommended. A trip to the emergency room with a nasty injury is not desirable. Sorry to be a nag about this. Otherwise best regards and please stop by if you find yourselves sailing around these parts of the New World.

Seabird is a massive rebuild and these two qualified craftsperson's know how to get the job done. The solar panel framework looks marvelous, allowing panels from the aft cockpit to the mast is absolute genius architecture. Truly amazing cinematography and editing, if you want to learn how to rebuild a *(ONE EURO SAILBOAT) this channel is a must see. Love the *(DUMPSTER RUNS); section at the end. Your enthusiasm is commendable but qualified craftsmen they aren't, a skilled boatbuilder does thing differently, better and a hell of a lot faster. From my thirty years in the business we know home-builders are about four times slower and a blind man can see the difference in quality. Just a few things from the video, gelcoat isn't flowcoat but if hours of sanding are your thing then who cares and when you are building stainless steel bimini arches then use a pipe flarer or it looks like cr#p when it's polished out..

Our panels are on a hard dodger over the center cockpit. The winches are at an angle to help with clearance. The top is plywood that matches the fliw of the boat. The big issue with flat mounting panels is they have terrible exposure except for mid day. Think about some ability to tilt them and als9 think hard about triangles at the top of the frame to provide rigidity so the bottom is mainly holding the structure to the boat. Everything is coming along nicely!
Hi, filling the gaps under the floating part of the ribs try stuffing your epoxy into the gap as you did but then using a piece of hosepipe to give you a nice curved finish and once the epoxy is dry remove the hosepipe and sand the squeezeout.
before you make your mind up how you are going to do your sola panels have a look at how (sailing melody) are doing theirs. just a thought you may like it
Where I grew up in the Florida Keys there was a old man who dove all the dumpsters in and around the marinas and boat yards for a few years he had a old beater of a wore out truck then one day he drove up in the fanciest truck I had ever seen. He told me the treasures of the dumpsters paid for it.

And underneath the solar panels they built a storage rack for items. Looked pretty neat. Ok hope you get yours just like you want it. I can't wait to see it. Great work you're both doing. Ciao, Geo

I just saw a solar setup where the metal frame cross bars were curved upward, the the center point being the high point. This allowed the two panels to be slightly angled when installed side by side. Just something you might think about. I can't wait for your next video to see what you have done. You two make TGIF take on a new exciting event for weekends. Ciao, Geo

Reading a boating magazine and thought of you Napoleon for a much-needed refit. Here is the extract from it. 😂 Port Napoleon is not always loved by yachtsmen, and admittedly, it does have some drawbacks, including its exposure to the Mistral, mosquitos and summer heat as well as a certain post-industrial bleakness, but we have an affection for the place, its friendly staff and the nearby Port St Louis, a town for which the adjective "authentic" might have been coined.
In 1911, a man by the name of Thomas Fleming Day sailed a 25.5 foot wooden boat named Sea Bird across the Atlantic... I dont know if that's where your Seabird got her name but I thought I'd share that tidbit with you anyway.

Hey guys just a suggestion when you need to fill small holes with thickened apoxy maybe try using a ziplock bag put your apoxy in it and cut a corner of and use it like a piping bag just a suggestion cheers keep up the good work 👍

Occurred to me that the solar arch leg could get in the way of the jib sheet coming aft to the winch that you placed behind the leg to make sure there was clearance from the handle - I’m sure you have taken the lines running to the winch into account but seemed unclear to me. Any reason you’re not putting the solar array more aft further behind the cockpit?
We want to keep the aft clear. The bimini idea might work, we've seen many boats with a similar set up. As for the lines, this is a vital point and one we have been looking into, winch handling etc. Cheers for watching 😃

Mate.i just watt the episode.with you guys injecting into the keel from inside .if you had of taken that top off the keel you could of pooref heaps of epoxy into the keel fixing your delamination problem.and that loose piece on top of the keel..
happy that you two use old and used stuff. just remember safety first, did see that you did not protect eyes when you use polyester and thats not wise. use protection when you work pls.
I heard dumpster diving in your country is a sport ! lol. Maybe they will have it in the Olympics then your in training for it now ! LMAO . Whats the BEST thing you ever found in a dumpster ? I found 4 boat motors once ! Once I found # sheets of plywood 1/2" thick !

If you have old sails, why don't you use them to cover the yacht and work space in front of the yacht? The gelcoat outside still absorbs water from the air (when it rains). It may be dry outside, but since you had so much osmosis, it should be protected from water. Old sails can make a great roof.
If we're going to watch the videos we going to comment.... In my opinion the whole interior should be addressed first.... The solar stuff can come later.... Just saying 😮😢

It looks like the boom or the foresail will interfere with the solar mount being that high, unless at the stern. Maybe I am not seeing it correctly.

The solar panels position should not impair access to the boom for taking a reef for example…

If you have old sails, why don't you use them to cover the yacht and work space in front of the yacht?
The gelcoat outside still absorbs water from the air (when it rains). It may be dry outside, but since you had so much osmosis, it should be protected from water. Old sails can make a great roof.
