This was my stepsons car …I found it on Craigslist in 2018 in Chicago and prior to that , the car was in Missouri . It was well taken care of (fluids changed, etc) . After owning it since September 2018, He sold it last month to buy a pickup truck…I knew it was his car when I saw the rear bumper …what a small world !
As a fellow car guy, I always believed in enjoying what you drive. The amount of money you spend on your cars can sometimes have the OPPOSITE effect on your enjoyment. I bought an $850 Saturn from IAA and love driving that little car as a daily. Remember to have something fun on the weekends too. Be smart with your money, you never know what can happen in the future.
There’s nothing wrong with having nice things. It is nice to get a glimpse into your thoughts and see some humility. I enjoy seeing the real person and not just the TH-cam personality.
Totally agree with you that TH-camrs that work hard deserve everything they can get and should enjoy the perks of life. At the same time, I can relate so much more to a Probe or Celica than a $150,000 Corvette. Not to say that's not content I can watch and enjoy, but with raising a family and paying bills, it's like a fantasy world to me.
I was JUST thinking about that. Hoovie got me into car TH-cam content, but man he is so far away from where he started. And don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing him. I just can't relate to him anymore, and his content is just boring now. How many expensive exotic cars can I watch him buy? He's a great guy, and I'm happy for him. Just not really my cup of tea anymore.
Randy, drive whatever makes you happy. Do things for you and Jessica do not worry what others think about you. Be happy with you. Congratulations on everything you have accomplished.
I really admire you for being so frank about your life. It is endearing to me that you just basically gave it all up. In my opinion this is my favorite channel because you are a good guy and you keep it real! Rock on!
Randy you can still enjoy both. After all there shouldn’t be nothing wrong by enjoying the fruits of your labor and still providing your subscribers good content on affordable vehicles
Randy, you were brought back to your beginnings and were reminded of where you came from. One of the reasons I like driving semi is the open road and the time it gives you to reflect on your life and keep you grounded and humble is a priceless thing my friend. Stay safe.
Randy, You deserve all the success You have! I have a 1990 Lincoln Town Car with 102,000 and I've been fixing Her back up and I'm a factory worker and I'll tell ya I get so many compliments from that Old Lincoln. Love your videos!
28:00. Woah. Looks like someone's mad at someone (the guy next to the white Pontiac Vibe). I am not too surprised that the Celica made it all the way home! It's a gem you found! Hope to see more of it again! In all seriousness, I had the same thoughts about needing to buy something cool and/or vintage to tell everyone that I am successful and happy. I'm still learning that I don't need to . I don't need a mega house and I certainly don't need a brand new car/truck to tell others how cool I am. Thank you for the therapy session Randy, hope to have more soon!
Hey, Randy I was once on track to lead a life like you have now. Bad decisions led me to a lengthy prison sentence and now I am watching this from a friends cargo trailer where I now live. I am the clown who sent the video about using the bike to get around. Often I think if I gained wealth I would show off to the naysayers who feel my chance at life has expired. You earned your life, you deserve what you havedownsizing is okay to if for the right reasons. Do what is right by you and your family. Again you earned what you have never listen to naysayers. I still find happy moments in life and hope that some day I will be able to do something worthwhile. Tale care.
Same thought I had after leaving the car business. It’s different when you go from growing up poor to being able to have nice things. My wife and i both have brand new expensive cars. We just had this same conversation about having the newest nicest stuff and if it’s really worth it or the hours away from home to pay for it. I definitely feel where you’re coming from with those thoughts
Randy at end of the day you got to do what makes you happy and if people don't like it don't worry about it and drive whatever truck you want keep up the good work enjoy watching your videos
Live the life that works best for you. You don't have to prove anything to anyone. Keep being you. Your a good person. You help others. Merry Christmas and a happy new year.
Thank you for your honesty. You showed a side of yourself to your viewers that a lot of TH-camrs don’t show and I think that’s great. But keep doing what your doing I enjoy watching.
Dude, Randy, when you were getting real driving the car back that hit home big time! My channel is small, mostly repair driven and a couple reviews but it makes a little money. I lost my job of 7 years last Tuesday due to downsizing cause they lost a contract. They could have waited till after the holidays, but obviously don't care about their employees. I've been looking at my channel and wanting to expand on it. I have a 69 Monterey I'm rebuilding and have a bunch of other projects to do. I'm not looking to be rich and hugely popular, just looking to make a living and enjoy what I do again, being able to provide more for my kids.... one of which who just got accepted I to her #1 college choice. Over the last 2+ years, I was hating the person I was becoming because of work. Maybe this was a sign and there's better things to come! Just trying to pick up the peices and move on, then I'm going to hit it hard! Seeing your success gives me hope for a sliver of the TH-cam pie. 👍
Randy your long time followers like me don't care about the fancy cars or fancy houses, we like you when you were fixing cars in that run down garage with the leaky roof, we like when you get these old beaters up and running again, we like the videos of you fixing your uncles old house. Stay true to your roots and your real subscribers will always watch your content.
I don’t see you as one of those flashy or bragging you tubers Randy. Honestly for me that was one of big things that got me hooked to your channel. Keep up the great work and do what makes you happy.
Yah know what Randy? Being happy with old junk really resonates. New wears off. Did new for the family van, still like driving my ratty old 95 Suburban and the kids like riding in it. Unless I make a drastic change, the YT rich life won't happen - aspirations don't make videos. Loving the will it make it 700 miles videos. Even when the trip is actually not that interesting cause the car isn't acting up, it's still fun and interesting. Always loved these Toyotas.
These 2zz equipped celicas are great little cars! While I would prefer a manual, 1200 for any decent running and driving celica (especially gt-s) is quite good value in todays economy.
Good conversation in the Celica (great little car too). You’re right, once you stop trying to impress people and live life the way you want, life becomes a lot simpler, less stressful, and happier. There’s a lot of truth in “money can’t buy happiness”.
Enjoyed your little talk to us while on your way back in your $1200.00 Toyota a lot! Something many folks need to think about! Great car and I enjoyed your video!
Just recently subscribed and I've watched several of your videos and so far I've really enjoyed them all, as for Toyota's I'm not a giant fan of them but I have to give credit where it's due, My wife has a 07 Camry That was treated like a race car by the last owner and even with that it still has the original motor and it's in excess of 325,000 miles and still going.
Love this episode. And the heart to heart. Love the concept of flipping cars. I have 8 in my driveway, was looking at a Celica GTS when I bought my mustang gt a few months ago, bought it cheap, sight unseen, drove it over 600 miles home. It's 24 years old, and just what I wanted . Still want a Celica.
on your pondering: don't sweat the small things. overthinking can really make you doubt yourself. It's good to ground yourself with the meager things, but at the same time, it's nice to have the nicer things you either never thought you'd have, or didn't expect at this stage in life. the material doesn't make the man, it's the character that makes it. enjoy the nice things you've earned, and don't worry about what the haters think.
Don’t let the devil get in your head! Be thankful (I know you are) and enjoy your life! It goes both ways. You don’t have to downgrade to prove anything
Great video Randy & Mike. Randy you cant replace good ole memories with money and today is not the save as the old days. I'm with you I miss the old day here I had a $600 never complained about the look or working on the car.
The Celica GTS with the 6 speed was my dream car as a teenager. Was highly disappointed I couldn't fit in one as a freshman at 6'4". Chose a '91 Dakota with a 5speed instead.
Randy I feel that you do this because it brings you back to the Comfort Zone of when you were young keep up the good work there's nothing wrong with you man
The Indiana to Oklahoma road trips with Monkey Wrench are very entertaining. Regarding your crisis, never thought for a second that you sold out. Everyone needs to have a reliable work truck.
Randy, You do what you think is best for you and your family! You've earned what you have and if you want to enjoy the nicer things in life, do it! I'll watch your videos if you're driving a busted old Dodge or that beautiful Ram TRX!
I cannot agree more with your introspection. I have wasted time an money on vehicles that only made me happy until I owned them. The most fun I have is with old oddball rides. You Cadillac is good enough for me anymore. Thanks for sharing
Randy sir, you just had a self realization moment on this trip. You’ll always be who you are and nothing can change that unless you want to change it. Do what if you bought yourself a few luxury items. Lord knows you worked your ass off for them. If you decide to dial it down some that’s your decision not ours to make for you. I’m glad you’re slowing down on the buying part to play catch up with your life. It’s important not to get to far ahead of yourself and have too much on your plate. Whatever you decide for yourself is fine by me. I’ll still watch you and Monkey Wrench Mike no matter what!!! By the way how’s your shoulder doing, getting it sorted out I hope. Don’t wait until it’s too far gone to do anything about it. I know you’re going to have more videos out before the holidays so I won’t wish you guys anything yet. 🤣 I knew that Toyota would make it 100% no problems, no worries. Hope you brought some Uranus fudge back for Jessica and the family 🤣👍
I enjoyed the conversation that you were giving your viewers you were at least being honest about it and that's more enjoyable than most of the other ones that lie about things and cover it up your channel is enjoyable to watch And me and my dad used to do that when I was much younger but did not purchase any of the wrecked cars just seeing how bad they were or just went to auctions just to look around you were being honest about what you were talking about and it was enjoyable to listen to you
To anyone watching this, the Celica is running great and has 157k+ miles on it. My son has certainly enjoyed it and we hope to keep it running for a good long while.
I miss those days. I'm 63 I remember buying cheap cars for $250 to $300 did a little work and sold them for twice that. Sometimes I bought one just to have for a weekend car one of my favorites was a 65 Olds Cutlass. F85 4 door. 330 V8 4V car was fun trip car
The talk you had made me gain alot of respect for ya! Over a year ago I kinda got tired of watching your videos. Monkey wrench Mike brought me back lol. And I'm glad cuz you seem more genuine again. I can tell you've grown alot man!👏👏👏
Great talking points on life and material objects and what it means to be successful. I think if you can put food on a table and comfort your loved ones that's true success that everyone should be able to do. But the times they are a changing, and not for our best interests . Much love peeps...
The talk around the 40:00 minute mark, I thoroughly enjoyed that, and I think you're thinking very straight. A therapist wouldn't do anything to affirm you when you're correct, and you were dead on, this time at least. I enjoyed the humanizing, and introspective thoughts
These are great little cars my friend in high-school bought one brand new! Gts with the stick shift! It didn't live very long we took a curve to fast and ended up side down in a ditch!
Randy, no matter what anyone says you're still a humble person. Maybe you buy these fancy things because you like the thrill of what those things offer. At least you know where you came from and totally accept that. Most people wouldn't.
It’s that time . We all do have these conversations with ourselves ( or with the dog ) where am I ? who am I ? Why am I ? Absolutely nothing wrong with it. Do what’s BEST for you and your family. Nice house, old house vs nice car, old car it’s always your call. As long as YOU like what’s in the MIRROR ! Keep on truckin’ Randy.
Theres Nothing like Being Humble i know the struggle ive lived on a Camper but as a lot of people say work it till you win it and im winning it Owning a brand New Mercedes all that thanks to some Dumb and Good Financial Decisions Good when i started to focus on Real Estate bad when i decided to buy a Brand New Mercedes honestly and on my Opinion Be Where You Feel Comfortable be where you wanna be and just be yourself thats all in life just be yourself and right now im at a point where i have enough money that i dont know where to spend it because i became so focused on making money that i forgot to remember where to spend it
Randy, I think it's wisdom setting in and finding out when you can afford to splurge on the toys and such, it's really the simple things in life which are most satisfying. Enjoy every sandwich brother!!
I completely get what you mean about feeling like yourself in a 1200 car. I've been thinking about similar things recently. Their is something beautiful about keeping things simple.
If you really love the TRX, I think you should keep it especially if you’re going to regret getting rid of it. There’s Nothing wrong with enjoying nice things after all the hard work you do. you deserve it. And thank you for the awesome videos.
Randy - when I was in my 20s, I had an '82 Ford Escort that I paid $100 for, I put a little time and effort into it snd drove all over the east coast/Midwest, it got me back and forth to work for a few years. Anyway, there is something to be said for not giving a f**k about what other people think. Trust me - your true fans are impressed more by your persona, your motivation, and your work ethic than they are with a cool car you drive.
Love the vids man, I have my nice car I keep in the garage, but also have a $200 2001 pathfinder with 217k and I'm proud to drive it around simply because it was $200 and have put a few thousand miles on it so far and it's still chugging along lol. I enjoy the cheap old cars too, I'd never buy a new car. Stay humble 😌
Celica's tend to run cold in the winter as well. It's very easy to fall in love with the Celica they're just very well built little cars and they are quite fun to drive
Many fellas who grew up playing Need For Speed Underground 1&2 are drooling at your Celica, Randy. For some, its their dream car to customize all the way. a few cosmetic fixes, and this car is good for that shuttle from Oklahoma to Indiana.
Randy before I gave my sonic back to a title loan agency (didn't need car didn't need debt) I literally a day before self surrending vehicle I did a transmission fluid exchange. Vehicle had 104k block still looked like new shiny no leaks. Perfect car for your show. I don't think it sold yet. DM me I'll send you the vin number so you can try to track it down. 2012 Chevy Sonic lt sedan 1.8 ecotec
I love the that model Celica, the body style always looks current. I had one, but my lovely wife made me sold it. 🤨 Keep up the excellent work Randy, we love ya.
I say drive whatever makes you comfortable. U work hard for everything you have u earned that TRX it's an awesome truck and ur not afraid to tell us that you came from the same side of the tracks that we came from I have been watching u since ur uberman days u have came along way my friend I love the content keep up the great work
I love your honesty with your thoughts. Men don’t talk about it enough. People really need to focus on working hard for the things that make them happy. For some it really is a cool car they’ve always wanted, but that doesn’t mean a flashy one necessarily. On the truck front. Definitely get Diesel the fuel economy is so much better and they have all the power you need.
Randy, I watch you because what you do is relatable. I’d love to be able to afford to have a TRX but I won’t be able to. Do what you do, buy what you want to buy and can afford. Do it for you and not for what people think about you. My dream car is a Track Hawk and I’d buy it tomorrow if I could afford it.
It doesn't matter what you drive as long as you enjoy it. Keep the good work Randy! You are doing great things for others and thats amazing. Happy holidays to you and your loved ones ❤️
Totally agree, dont care if i have $100,000 or $500, im happy with what ive got, i started out with an $800 subaru impreza 2008 with 300,000 miles on it and i loved that car, i didnt care what anyone thought of it or anything, i bought it because i liked it, and i drove it until it died, it doesn't matter what people think about my car or anything.
i want that so bad. they’re fun cars to drive. my friend had one when we were in school. she sadly hydroplaned into a tree during a bad rainstorm. she’s got it in her garage. she can’t let go. hers was silver with 230k miles last i knew. it’s been sitting since at least 2018. her mom owned it since new, then gave it to her when she got her license.
I’m a car guy and I actually live a few blocks from your uncle. Having a nice things is cool. As long as you don’t forget that they are THINGS. I watch you because when I was young I wanted many of the cars you buy. I watch mike because I like old Mercedes because growing up that showed you were successful and doesn’t want to be successful. Do what you do but never forget who you are at your core😊
I loved my 1995 Celica! It was a fun, good looking, reliable, fuel sipping car that was surprisingly comfortable. I love the cheap car, can it make it videos! Keep those coming! I totally get the contemplation of the expensive vehicles vs not. I have been doing the same thing. For the Ram guy in you, I might even consider an older 2500 5.7 Hemi truck for what you do with your truck...... might not be a bad option....
Almost done with the video Randy, but how you said of the back in the time story and it’s Crazy you came from 500 dollar car to a 100k truck that is massive success, and I think you should sell the trx and get a more fuel efficient truck lol but keep it up man!
Randy, I drove a very nice Lexus LS for several years. Great car, but I enjoyed having people see me driving my fancy car. I sold it and purchased a regular cab ram SLT with a 8 foot bed (ole farm truck). I am just as happy driving my ole truck just as much as my former luxury ride.
Randy, I respect you as you seem to be a well grounded individual! Like you said you don't need all the trappings of a successful Utuber. I wish you all the best! I love your videos and your Uncle's house too!
Thank you Randy for talking candidly about yourself. I myself appreciate the fact that you shared your thoughts about success, money, and the reasons behind why we buy bigger better things. I hope the celica makes it easily.
You worked as hard as anyone for what you have. Your entitled to live the way you want with what you want. It's not so much about where you start in life but where you finish. Must be a well run auction if what your buying are Red Light vehicles. They don't take a chance on anything but the best. Any chance the Jeep was a repo and they didn't want to Green Light it? Thank you both for another fun filled video.
Randy do what makes you happy I would love a trx and can afford one but I have a hyundai santa fe and a camaro and own them both out right. A 1500 dodge eco diesel or 2500 diesel would be the ticket for you bud....
THANK YOU for bringing up the wealth gap between the viewer base and the TH-camr. Look at Tavarish used to do poor man's projects now everything is 100k+, I feel left behind I was 1 of his first 30k subscribers and to me that $1200 car is an obtainable dream Be the crazy old rich guy living in the same house he did as a kid, make the money and stay humble. Appreciate ya Randy
Randy ,you know you came from a family who worked hard and you've never have forgotten where you came from that is soild dude . That is why I enjoy your channel you aren't fake . Be yourself and be true to yourself only you know you no matter what . I wish I could meet you in person I would like to have a beer with you . Be safe no matter what you decide to drive or where you live you make it cool 😎 .
Randy, you are a honest person and you are constantly taking chances you are reaping the fruits of your risk taking and time, you deserve absolutely every penny you are making, totally enjoy your channel and wish you all the best, Merry Christmas Randy 👍😊
I used to try to do what others expected or wanted and they usually just want more. I started living more like Ricky Nelson said you can't please everyone so you gotta please yourself.
You are who you are youre a humble man and thats great enjoy youre life you only get one i drive a $1500 2012 ford focus and im happy with it someday ill start my own lawncare buisness and have more fun with better money
Look you went from nothing to something you deserve everything you worked hard for and look you been helping out people by giving back thats why I really enjoy watching your videos and the great stuff you do don't fill bad about your Success . You've been blessed and have a lot of friends like mike and me and everyone else who watches your channel.
Many of us work hard but never end up in a position like you have brought yourself to. Have worked hard all of my life but never did very well financially because of greedy business owners that thought more of themselves than their own people working to make their business strong. 😮
My best advice to you is don't overthink it just do what makes you happy cuz that is the most important thing being happy and having fun while still making enough money to survive
Well that's sports car that little red one oh yeah that's a cool little car and will it make it I can guarantee it will make it Don Ashburn from Tucson Arizona said that
Man, this is going to make someone an excellent first car, work vehicle, commuter car, etc… I imagine you’ll make a good couple bucks on it, or, paint it and sell it for even more. You won’t lose on this one!
Definitely change the oil pan on the engine because they don't have enough baffle from the factory and if you rev it high when doing turns it might ruin the bearings and a rod knock will happen Sorry for bad English
This was my stepsons car …I found it on Craigslist in 2018 in Chicago and prior to that , the car was in Missouri . It was well taken care of (fluids changed, etc) . You are so right Randy I bought me a 95 Toyota Camry because it's my style and in good condition lost my 94 Camry in a car accident.

Great video Randy & Mike. Randy you cant replace good ole memories with money and today is not the save as the old days. I'm with you I miss the old day here I had a $600 never complained about the look or working on the car.
I honestly love these videos! Can’t wait for the next one! 😊 The celica is so reliable. Makes me want one. ready for the Cadillac and the Jeep.
I have had several Toyotas, it will make it. I miss my Tundra and Tacoma.
The Celica GTS with the 6 speed was my dream car as a teenager. Was highly disappointed I couldn't fit in one as a freshman at 6'4". Chose a '91 Dakota with a 5speed instead.
Randy I feel that you do this because it brings you back to the Comfort Zone of when you were young keep up the good work there's nothing wrong with you man
This was a fun video to listen to as I worked on my truck from 2-8 am in a barn with no heat at 8f. I had on 6 layers including coveralls.
I feel the struggle, keep trucking
The Indiana to Oklahoma road trips with Monkey Wrench are very entertaining. Regarding your crisis, never thought for a second that you sold out. Everyone needs to have a reliable work truck.
Randy,
You do what you think is best for you and your family!
That is excellent news!
@@AutoAuctionRebuilds thanks again Randy. Too bad we couldn't have lunch, but maybe next time!
Literally to the 1% who's reading this, God bless you, and may your dreams come true, stay safe and have a wonderful and blessed day.😇
Stay blessed my friend and Merry Christmas
Thank you, I really needed this today. God bless you!
Merry Christmas and God Bless brother!
Thank you 🙏
God bless you too
Good luck to both of y'all hope y'all...make it home safe keep warm an safe see y'all soon
Love watching both channels, thanks for all ya'lls hard work
This car is a trooper it will make the trip 2 times over I used to own one
I enjoyed the humanizing, and introspective thoughts
thank you
Nice car
Great road trip
nice music
You are all great
These are great little cars my friend in high-school bought one brand new!
Will keep watching your an Mike's videos you both seem like great friends good luck buddy
Many fellas who grew up playing Need For Speed Underground 1&2 are drooling at your Celica, Randy. For some, its their dream car to customize all the way. a few cosmetic fixes, and this car is good for that shuttle from Oklahoma to Indiana.
I agree with you Randy. Stay humble. You will be able to save more money in the long run.
I Love the Toyota Celica. She will definitely make it Randy. Toyota quality and reliability at its best. You even get a little bit of performance.
I love the that model Celica, the body style always looks current. I had one, but my lovely wife made me sold it. 🤨
Keep up the excellent work Randy, we love ya.
Humility is a gift and its rare...Love you Randy and God will continue to bless you my friend.
Randy, life is short, enjoy yourself. Please don’t feel guilty for your success. Love your humbleness!
You be you brother. Don't matter if you have a trex or a Toyota. So what makes you happy. The stuff you share is awesome. Keep it up.
As long as you don’t forget where you came from, you’re gonna get to places you never dreamed of going.. stay humble, stay blessed, stay healthy.
$1200 and it made it that far no issues that's a deal!!! I'd buy that car if I could you'll never find that deal at a private party sell these days
You're good Randy, we are youtube audience we listen and we watch but most all we enjoy!
THANK YOU for bringing up the wealth gap between the viewer base and the TH-camr.
Look at Tavarish used to do poor man's projects now everything is 100k+, I feel left behind I was 1 of his first 30k subscribers and to me that $1200 car is an obtainable dream
Be the crazy old rich guy living in the same house he did as a kid, make the money and stay humble.
I miss my 2002 Celica GT-S. It was black and had a raised tail fin .
Since I like changing vehicles a lot I started doing short term lease takeovers.... a year or less.
Some people think it's stupid but I like it.
Randy, stay humble! never let youtube change who you are!
finally stopped at the fudge place for mike!!!
Definitely change the oil pan on the engine because they don't have enough baffle from the factory and if you rev it high when doing turns it might ruin the bearings and a rod knock will happen
Sorry for bad English
