And when he meets her actual brother he is confused; so the drama indicates that he is still very much straight… Those types of confusion-scenes are actually somewhat common in Korean dramas (e.g. see Coffee Prince), without them ever explicitly touching upon homosexuality, bisexuality or pansexuality.
Though admittedly younger generations are much more open and accepting now, so there are some (but very, very few) openly gay celebrities. Kinda hypocritical, considering the whole shipping culture… However, older generations still tend to have a very conservative mindset, which influences Korea‘s culture as a whole.
