This, along with her lifetime promotion of charity and mutual understanding, endeared her to the multitudes of all nationalities to this day. Upon her untimely death on May 8, 1995 Teresa Teng's exceptional achievements and contributions were honored formally by the issuings of official postal stamps in her image from countries like Grenada, (1995), North Korea, (1996), and her native Taiwan (2015). Apparently you don't know Teresa Teng all that well. Here is a brief synopsis of her bio for your information: Teresa Teng テレサ･テン was a pop superstar in the second half of the 20th century. She was famed for her folk songs and romantic ballads. Many became classics during her lifetime, such as "When will you Return?" and "The Moon Manifests My Heart". She recorded songs not only in her native Mandarin but also in Japanese, Indonesian, English, Taiwanese, Hokkien, Cantonese, and Shentunese. In all, she had left us with some 1,500 indelible songs and many high quality concert performance recordings. Teresa died on May 8, 1995 from fatal side effects when she, attempting to arrest a severe asthmatic attack, accidentally overdosed the steroidal medication from her prescription inhaler. She was only 42. Teresa was given state honors at her funeral on May 28, 1995, which was attended by a great number of dignitaries and top officials. It was described as the largest turnout for a civilian funeral attended by mourners totally uncoerced. Her casket was draped with the National flag - the highest honor a civilian can receive.
