    Great video! Be thankful it was only 30 bucks. The fox spanner wrench is more than double that. Imagine how pissed I was finding out a 10 dollar tool couldn't be included with a 2 grand setup and I had to pay 60+. Absolute BS!

    Mike, don’t forget to mention that the truck needs to be driven back and forth 3 or 4 times, about 20’ each direction to let tires/suspension settle after truck is raised off ground by jack and put back down.

    I think you gotta compress the springs in order to adjust with spanner wrench. Would make you work less and less damaging on the threads too

    How to achieve the 2.75 lift for 3rd Gen tacoma? How much thread need to be expose? Im running 315/70r17 at the moment so i really need the clearance. I installed the icon 2.5 and the expose thread is 1.5 inch.

    How much thread do you have showing on yours in inches ? And what does that equal in lift . In the instructions it doesn’t say how many turns or threads equal what size lift

    Why do you measure from the top of the wheel well to the center hub? Shouldn't you measure to the ground?

    Since you're not impressed with the spanner wrench is there a better quality universal wrench that could be used over the Icon spanner wrench?

      Unfortunately I don't have another recommendation... just something other than this.

    When he said make sure to not adjust it over 2.1 inches for Tacoma. Is that apply to Icon stage 2 only? I about to get King 2.5 with remote reservoir, can I lift my 2008 Tacoma over 2.1 inches?

    • @dougscott5742
      @dougscott5742 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you ever install then adjust your kings? I have had mine on for about a month and i am ready to add an additional 1” and am curious how easy they are to adjust.

    Do I need an alignment after adjustment?

    Great video! Do you happen to have any lean on driver side rear "taco lean"? or after adjusting the front that solves the lean in the rear as well. Thanks

    You said you wouldn’t buy that tool again. Is there a different one I can get to adjust the height?

    • @DrivenCompanion
      @DrivenCompanion  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are other spanner wrenches out there. I don't have any recommendations but I think there are some generic options that would be worth a try.

  • @sworks7124
    @sworks7124 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    can you adjust the driver side to be higher then the passenger side to compensate for the taco lean?

    • @DrivenCompanion
      @DrivenCompanion  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, that's one of the nice things about this style of shock is that either side can be adjusted independently to any height between stock and the max lift height.

    Did you have the wheels for alignment post adjustment? Shops I called suggest an alignment after.

  • @crankierfrank

    Is alignment required after adjusting coilovers?

  • @agustinherrera5600
    @agustinherrera5600 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey how happy are you with these coilovers ? I have the same ones on my tacoma and i feel like they suck i hate the ride quality for the price . They feel the same as when i was running it with the lift blocks. I contacted icon and they never responded .

      Here's a comparison I recently did with the Bilstein 5100s on my 4Runner: th-cam.com/video/JZmTunXsWlE/w-d-xo.html. In summary I agree they didn't impress me as much as I'd hoped.

      Pop off your sway bar and it softens it up 1,000X

    So I’m picking up some icon coilovers and was wondering how much preload can I put on them

  • @LeftyMcgee808
    @LeftyMcgee808 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice! So exactly how many inches in front an back do you have? 2.15 front 1.5 back I'm guessing??

    • @DrivenCompanion
      @DrivenCompanion  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's about where I'm sitting right now - good guess. May need to go a little higher to get the clearance I need but haven't figured that out yet.

    • @LeftyMcgee808
      @LeftyMcgee808 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      How high can u go in front with out maxing ?

    • @kevinloschiavo9597
      @kevinloschiavo9597 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m confused. You say in the video that the preload setting for the threads on the adjustable part of the coil over can’t be more than 2.13inches but here you’re saying you’re at 2.15”? Or is it that 2.15 you mention here in the comment is total lift height hub to fender?

    Hey mike are you running a differential drop kit with this lift???

    • @DrivenCompanion
      @DrivenCompanion  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I am. Its required over 3 inches but my with any lift its not a bad idea to reduce stress

  • @MikeY-ix3lt
    @MikeY-ix3lt 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey Mike what do u mean not exceeding the 2.13 inches in the thread? Where are you measuring from there?

  • @Dennis_is_Outside

    The Racetek wrench is better and has a 3/8 socket wrench slot for more leverage.

    They won't get my business if they can't even include the crap spanner wrench with it. Especially considering how much it cost.

    • @Thecuriousthird
      @Thecuriousthird 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No they didn’t come with the spanner. Which was unfortunate but I’ll say I do love the ride and handling the Icons give my taco. I just bought a set of decent spud wrenches that fit for way cheaper than any spanner I could find.

    Why’d you have to adjust your coilovers?

      Installed them and wanted it to sit a little taller to get the stance I was after.
