Traditional Finnish Log Sauna | National Sauna Week

The last week of February has been declared “National Sauna Week". Because of the Finnish heritage here in the Upper Peninsula, sauna culture is strong here. Our Finnish ancestors brought the tradition here and it spread across the United States and there are now saunas of all shapes, sizes, wood-fired, electric, portable, floating, you name it. I visit with Jim Kurtti who has restored an original, traditional log sauna.
Sauna is pronounced "sow-nah"
Sauna is the only Finnish word known worldwide.
