The part about the label kinda "having to" put it out because the concept was so unique and how it paved the way for this kind of experimentation, it kind of reminds me of "52 Weeks" from Into It. Over It. (2009) He challenged himself to write a song every week from 9/27/07 to 9/27/08. I came across it while working (burgeoning) social media at an indie distro and saw it was my birthday (apparently his too), checked it out and dug it. Sometimes i think about writing challenges like this and can only applaud the people who can complete them enough to share like this.
ELIGIBLE, NOT TOO STUPID! INTELLIGENTLY, AND CUTE AS CUPID! KNOWLEDGEABLE, BUT NOT ALWAYS RIGHT! SALVAGEABLE, AND FREE FOR THE NIGHT! Well my heart's runnin round like a chicken with its head cut off. All around the barn yard falling in and out of love. Poor thing's blind as a bat gettin up, fallin down, gettin uuuuuuuup. Who'd fall in love with a chicken with its head cut off? Woah Nelly!
Pro tip: if you want a deep dive into the album, track down its original 1999 Merge CD release. It includes a booklet containing an interview by Daniel Handler where Stephin Merritt discusses all 69 songs.
I want to know what everyone's favourite tracks on this album are! This is one of those albums where i cant say one song is necessarily better than the other when they each bring something interesting to the tracklist.
Nothing Matters, Absolutely cuckoo, Reno Dakota, No one will ever love you, Papa was a rodeo, Promises of eternity , It's a crime, I can't touch you anymore
@Danny_Matson I was curious about anthony's as well! I guess thats why i brought the question to the comments. The country songs are on heavy rotation, particularly chicken with its head cut off and papa was a rodeo. But also the songs that make me laugh and smile the most - Zebra, a pretty girl is like, acoustic guitar, meaningless, the night you cant remember.
Papa Was a Rodeo, You're My Only Home, Grand Canyon, I Think I Need A New Heart, The Luckiest Guy, Abigail, Belle o Kilroan, Washington DC, god I have to stop there otherwise i'll list 67 songs
my semi-hot take ab this album is that “I Shatter” is a serious highlight. i love how disorienting, light, and loopy the instrumental is contrasted with that vocal-fry-ish bass performance
I love this album, I can’t for the life of me convince any of my friends to listen to it. Half are intimidated by the length and the other half dismiss it as a gimmick. It’s so frustrating because once you give it a chance it’s very accessible for the most part, and is one of those elusive albums that I think almost anyone would enjoy.
Gently disagree with Melon’s take that you should listen to this album in chunks. If you’re willing to invest the time, a really unique feeling of understanding and appreciation starts to take over if you listen to this album in one shot.
I think you should made a more classics review, is not just for a fan suggestion is for the unknown of the real music, I don't think in nowadays is not good music, the new Charli xcx record is Wonderfull, I love her because she is a true artist and she is so talented. She has her own personality, she improves her music in an other level and finally she will has the succeed that she really deserves. I been a fan of different music genres and this channel is so interesting because you will find artist that you will love in the words of him. I appreciate for true artist and groups they are talented and their music is phenomenal like Fiona Apple her debut "Criminal" is Wonderfull, Motörhead "Ace of spades" is a magnificent metal record, and "Tim" for the replacements is an iconic album for the rock music.
OOOOH YES. This album is so fuckin good, although I do wish their other 90’s albums got more love it seems like this takes up most of the acclaim (but deserves it cos it’s the best and a damn 10/10)
This was one of my ex's favorite albums and he had all these songs he'd relate to me that I didn't feel connected to at all and it sort of ruined what I did find cool about the album. Bummer.
I WISH THE REVIEW WERE LONGER BUT I’M STILL SO EXCITED THIS ALBUM IS PEAK I’M DRUNK
The review is very long. You just got to rewatch it a bunch of times
@@joaquin5929review is very long. You just got the rewind 10 seconds every 11 seconds
Hi drunk i'm dad
The review should've been 69 minutes long but we can't all be perfect I guess
Do a Tierra Whack?
Ok this can't get any more like, it's perfect as is
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE SO LONG
69 love songs and only 12 of them are good
I was sure I had already seen him review this album lol 👀 - but yes I just make a shorter edit and it's great lol 69 is a lot of songs really.
It has been out for 20 years or something like that

Life-changing album. Love that he shouted out Washington, D.C.

My favorite song on the record

I was literally saying to myself yesterday "Antony could do 69 Love Songs this year". And you did! Thank you, Mr. Antonio.
Aw that's nice! I didn't know 6ix9ine put out an album of love songs!
YES! 69 Love Songs is an amazing album, happy to see a classic review.
One thing: everybody who has their wedding dance to 'The Book of Love' should really be needle dropping 'It's Only Time' from the next album, i
The Way You Say Goodnight tho
By bookworm wife came down the aisle to Book of Love, still sing it to her unexpectedly every now and then
Epitaph for my heart is one the best love songs ever
Pro tip: if you want a deep dive into the album, track down its original 1999 Merge CD release. It includes a booklet containing an interview by Daniel Handler where Stephin Merritt discusses all 69 songs.
He talks about his love of Aphex Twins Analog Bubblebath
One of my favorite albums, but The Charm of the Highway Strip will always have my heart.
Timeeee.....
Measured in dooootted yellow lineessss hass passed you byyyyyy
Surprised Fantano suggested this album was “lo-fi” or rough around the edges in any way. Brilliant record

How about you?? I was also curious what Anthony's were.

Queen of The Savages, plus all of the above.
I'm feeling a strong glub from this one

Yes Geogaddi next for sure!
my semi-hot take ab this album is that “I Shatter” is a serious highlight. i love how disorienting, light, and loopy the instrumental is contrasted with that vocal-fry-ish bass performance
100000%
Now let Austen review that one bladee album she loves for classics week
It’s absolutely an experience, and I love every minute of it, thanks melon!
also the fact Grimes covered (somehow) the book of love is quite obvious on that California song
WOOOW, SUPER COOL!! (But where is the red house painters rollercoaster review?)
This was my favorite album of all time for 10 years. It got dethroned this year by brat. I’m so happy to see it get a classic review! ❤
Thank you for acknowledging my submission

PLEASE DO A CLASSIC REVIEW FOR DISINTEGRATION THE CURE
Great short bro
It's incredible how well this album justifies its length. Top 5 of all time for me
between lou barlow and stephen merritt there was clearly someting in the water in massachusetts in the 80s
Shehbaz Sharif
69 is a Whole Lotta Love Songs
BANG, THERE WAS YOU
TOO GOLD, TOO BLUE
It’s making me blue
Pantone 292
One of my new favorite albums. I never thought this would be the case but this album just keeps giving
for being 69 songs long its surprisingly consistent, well worth the praise fr fr.
A classic review of Selected Ambient Works Vol. II by Aphex Twin would be great. That album is so fascinating and interesting.
I don't think he does more than one classic review per artist
Oh man, its been a long tine since I played this one in full!
I saw them perform the entire album over two nights and it was phenomenal
It contains some of all time favourite songs and some songs that I am a bit meh on but it certainly is a masterpiece
thank you fantano, you saved my night
Many of the tracks released by Stephin Merritt in his various incarnations rank among my favorites.
Looks like some love was spread across the sweater
Shehbaz Sharif
You should review "Ring" by The Connells, the album really deserves more recognition
I want to put my hand in a blender when this album comes on shuffle, but it’s good!
I love this album, I can’t for the life of me convince any of my friends to listen to it. Half are intimidated by the length and the other half dismiss it as a gimmick. Possibly the greatest album ever recorded
need to see either sweet trip - vdc or cornelius - fantasma

I’ve heard better albums from this past year.
Here's hoping he eventually covers Imogen Heaps Speak for Yourself

This entire month better be classic reviews daily or else I'm telling my gay father
OOOOH YES. This album is so fuckin good, although I do wish their other 90’s albums got more love it seems like this takes up most of the acclaim (but deserves it cos it’s the best and a damn 10/10)

Sun Ra - Strange Celestial Road
Love this album.
The funny number album
I'd say the pattern is broken but if this album were split into three it would not be!
Bit surprised he didn’t bring up Black Country New Road
greatest album of all time
Why is this video less than 69 minutes long? Fuck it ill take it
If he reviews Modal Soul by Nujabes I might have a heart attack
It’s a perfect album, or an amazing double album, or and a good triple album
Strong 6.9
Is it a 10 experience?
This was one of my ex's favorite albums and he had all these songs he'd relate to me that I didn't feel connected to at all and it sort of ruined what I did find cool about the album. Bummer.
Next: Ween - Chocolate & Cheese
he already reviewed that album
