  • Autumn is really underway now, with the focus on the metal element meridians of the lungs and large intestine. These are the organs of release and excretion - apt for this time of year, as the leaves fall and the summer sinks back towards winter.
Here's a routine to improve flow in both meridians!
I'm sorry if you see intrusive ads. I will turn them off as soon as I can! TH-cam will decide when that happens, based on a mix of subscriber numbers and watched hours. You can help me get there quicker by subscribing and watching. Thanks!
KNOCKING ON THE GATE OF LIFE
Warming up the spine. The arms are completely relaxed and swing out with the turn of the waist. Loose fists knock on the belly and the Gate of Life point on the lower spine, then on the lung points at the front of the shoulders.
    SHAKING
Let yourself relax as you shake, feeling all the joints gently moving, clearing out habitual tension and tightness.
    PUMPING ARMS
This medical qigong exercise expels stagnation, brings in fresh new energy and gets the chi moving. It's used in Chinese hospitals as an exercise for cancer patients.
The knees do a gentle double bounce, moving the chi through every joint. The knees rise as the arms swing up and drop as they fall.
Exhale sharply as the arms swing down and behind, and inhale as they come forward and up.
    TWO HANDS HOLD UP HEAVEN
This wonderfully relaxing and stabilising opening move from the Eight Pieces of Brocade form is done on one long breath cycle.
The palms start face down, connecting with the earth.
Inhale slowly and deeply as the palms rise up until they are facing the heavens. If you like you can imagine you are pulling earth chi up through every cell of the body.
Exhale, opening the palms out to the side and down, bringing heavenly energy down through the body.
    ORGAN CLEANSING - LUNGS
This medical qigong exercise from Daisy Lee and Garri Garripoli's organ cleansing routine works with the physical, or wei chi, field of energy.
Inhale as the hands rise and exhale as they fall.
You can imagine you are polishing the inside of a metal sphere with your palms.
    ORGAN CLEANSING - LARGE INTESTINE
Again working with the wei chi field, here the hands draw fluid figures of eight in front of the belly.
    The little finger leads.
Make the movement as fluid as you can - healthy energy flows gently and smoothly. If you find it hard, just persevere, the movement is a natural one so you'll get better at it quickly.
You'll probably find the whole body starts to be involved, and again this is a sign of a healthy qi flow.
    CLEARING THE DIGESTION
Strengthening and relaxing, this is designed to get the chi moving!
Start in a horse stance, as low as is comfortable. Inhale as you squat down. The arms are rounded and the palms facing forward.
Exhale as you slowly circle the wrists. The fingers should be extended so that you feel a good stretch through wrists, palms and fingers.
Inhale and bring the hands to your side.
Exhale and push deliberately down with the palms, as you straighten the knees.
    PULLBACK, PRESS AND PUSH
Apologies if this movement isn't made really clear on the video. I'll do it facing the camera next time.
This section of the tai chi form works on the lung and large intestine meridians. The movements are gentle, which makes them powerful. Stay relaxed and you may feel the movement of chi all through your hands, arms, shoulders, legs and even your head.
Start with your hands holding a ball of energy out to the side, with about 80 percent of your weight on the front leg.
Pullback - Inhale and bring the ball of chi down to the opposite hip as the weight shifts back.
Press - Place the palm onto the wrist of the front arm and press forward as the weight shifts forward again.
Push - The hands separate and pull backwards as the weight shifts back, ready to push forward again. Then push steadily away from you. Imagine you are gently but insistently pushing an issue away.
Then drop the back palm to hold the ball of chi again.
    BRINGING DOWN THE HEAVENS
Grounding and balancing, this is an excellent closing move for any qigong practice.
Inhale as the hands lift to shoulder height, bringing clean fresh chi from the earth up through the body.
Exhale as the palms turn over, releasing any stagnation or tension.
Inhale as you lift the palms to gather energy from the sky.
Exhale and bring that heavenly energy down through the body and back into the earth.
    COMPLETION
One hand over the other on the belly, as your system absorbs the chi that you've generated with your practice.
Thanks for practising with me, and I wish you good health and an excellent rest of day!

Thank you so much Amanda❤! Very beautiful series of exercises.
Amanda I would like to know if there is a connection between Qigong practice and the elegance/grace of body movements. I see this daintiness in the way you make all the movements /exercises, and I have seen that in others instructors, as well. I wonder if a long practice of Qigong shapes the entire human being in such a way that they become like a wonderful, gracefully "jewel"? Or, is this just an individual feature?
Once again, thank you so much for all your lessons,
and thank you in advance for your reply🌻🌷🍀! With gratitude, Emilia_

@@mereunetulburat8022 hello Emilia! 😊 and thank you very much for your kind comments.
Yes, you are right, it's qigong practice that changes the person and changes the way that they move. It takes time - when I started my teacher told me 10 years of practice. I now have 25 years! I feel very different but I am still 'me' - just more peaceful, and with better health. The movements themselves teach you, with time. Some of the learning has been very profound.
I hope you will discover all this for yourself! It is a truly wonderful journey.
Wishing you health and happiness 😊🙏🌿

      Hello, my dear Amanda!
First of all thank you for your reply, and for all those wonderful wishes towards me🤗!
Amanda, I want you to know that last night I read your answer, but I was (feeling) too tired to respond; however, I went to bed with your words in my mind: " the movements themselves teach you with time". Actually, I was so happy to hear this from you, because I do trust in this practice, even if I have learned Qigong from You Tube. Here, in my country, Christian Orthodox Church teaches people that all the knowledge that comes from Asia is evil and so on🙄... Literally I don't care, and I will definitely go on on my own path, the path that resonates with my being.
Much gratitude and appreciation! May you have many, many beautiful years of practice and teaching from now on! ❤💐

@@mereunetulburat8022 thank you for telling me that. It is great to hear that you follow your path even when outside voices deny it! Your own comfort and peace are the best guides, and they'll always lead you out of fear.
I do love TH-cam, it is really wonderful to be able to connect with qigong, which is not very well known anywhere outside China.
Wishing you very happy, Emilia, and happy practising 😊🙏🌿
